One of our favorite restaurants in Columbia. Family atmosphere, delish food. The garlic knots are to die for.. and the seasonal salads always make me smile. Easy for vegetarians to omnivores to enjoy the food.My husband likes to order a dish no longer on the menu, and they happily accommodate him. The manager is so friendly and the staff remember you! In the spring and summer months the patio dining overlooking the lake is divine.

We ejoyed our meal here. They had a long line so we waited to get in. However, the food came quickly and we were enjoyed it. Food was too pleantyful to order desert. We took home some.

My Husband and I went here after catching a movie across the street last night.
As soon as you walk in you are overcome with the wonderful and robust smells of their food! My mouth started to water as soon as I came in the turn style door! The Tomato Palace serves traditional Italian pastas and pizzas.

The walls have these great murals of traditional Italian type vegetables in a
cartoon manor that is very fun and whimsical. They bring each table a pewter pitcher of water that is kept at the table. Interesting to find out you can order off the Clyde's menu from next door (owned by the same people).

The start you of with a nice selection of Italian bread and this other garlic
bread that is tied in knots- both were to die for. We shared an appetizer of the grilled bruchetta that was so wonderful (except the mozzarella was a bit mild for us and didn't have much flavor- the rest of it was perfect).

I had the February special which was Braised Braciola (about $14)- stuffed with
egg, sun dried tomatoes, onions, spinach and a few other things served with a cacciatore sauce, sauted green beans and mashed potatoes. It was very good. Besides my husbands braciola it was the best I have ever had.

My husband had the Chicken Parmigiana. The chicken was very moist and the
coating was perfect.

This place sits right on the lake- however we couldn't see it because we didn't
eat till around 8:30 p.m. We both agreed it was very good and average price and would head back again. They had some great sounding desserts but we were both too full.

*Went back on 5/30/08
I wasn't as impressed last night. The bread and garlic knots were still very good along with the service and atmosphere. However, our food wasn't as good.

I ordered one of the specials called Grilled Asparagus Pasta ($14.95) which on paper sounded great with chicken, garlic, smoked tomatoes, grilled asparagus, grilled red onions with penne pasta and white wine sauce and drizzled with a balsamic vinegar sauce. However when I got it and took my first few bites I was note impressed. Overall, it was very flavorless (both the sauce and the chicken especially). I asked for more of the balsamic vinegar sauce which helped some. However, the smoked tomatoes and grilled red onions were very flavorful but they got lost when you mixed it all together. The asparagus was not the best also. Some of it was good but most of mine was very thick and stalky (if its to thick is not good at all).

My husband got the Chicken Rigatoni and was also disappointed- he wished he had order his staple of Chicken Parm. He ate less then myself.

This experience makes me skeptical about going back.
