We really appreciate your comments regarding our tree farm!! Our primary objective is to have fun and hopefully share that feeling with all of the young and old kids who come lookin for that perfect tree at Christmas time. We try to work with mother nature .... (no insecticides) and only spot spraying of Roundup to control poison ivy. In 2008, for the first time, we will be spaying our Douglas Fir trees with a fugicide (food safe used on orchard trees) to treat a fungus that is causing needle loss. Douglas Fir is a west coast tree that just does not like living so close to Washington DC; go figure!! Rain and snow and mud YUCK!!! We hate working in rain and snow and mud!!! It just ain't fun. Well, a little bit of snow is ok!! So, please pick a date to visit us that is sun shiny and dry!! Timber Falls Tree Farm www.thetreecompany.com

We've been going to Timber Falls for some time now and we hope to keep going back for years to come. The farm offers a nice selection and at the same time it's not so enormous that the experience becomes overwhelming. You can't beat the flat price of $30 per tree. We like how we can drive right up to the farm -- it makes it easy to haul the tree back to the car. Of course we love the free hot cider, cocoa and cookies. They are a welcome treat after a cold, brisk walk thru the farm. But the number one reason we go to Timber Falls is because of the owners. It's a family run business and they are genuinely nice and incredibly helpful. We only hope that they continue to run Timber Falls so we can continue our tradition.

At other tree farms, we've had good and bad luck finding decent trees, but after a few recent rounds of not so great trees (at pretty high prices I might add), we looked around for other farms in the Montgomery/Howard/Frederick county area and came upon Timber Farms. Like all farms, the selection in the field can be hit or miss (I guess more hits than misses if the farm tends to the trees year-round), but the guy with the white beard (no, not Santa, but just as nice) has offered to trim the tree we liked before we cut it down so that we could make a decision before committing to that tree.

The family who runs the farm is not only fair, but they're very nice too. I highly recommend getting your tree from them as they make you WANT to buy from them. The barn/shed/store is where you check out, but not before warming up to all the cookies and hot cocoa and cider you want. The prices are VERY good ($30 for ANY tree, including tax) and the hospitality is free!

Merry Christmas Timber Tree Farm!! We'll see you next year!

Timber Falls has a decent selection of trees, but over the years, the selection and quality of them have gone downhill. They also suffer from problems with mud and also having their trees too close together. It can easily turn into a big hassle to find the tree you want and haul it back to your car. I would recommend seeking out other options before giving this place a look.
