I've been through both the emergency room once and the O.B.T.L.C. several times. The emergency room was several years ago and the wait was horribly long. I took a three day old infant who hadn't eaten all day and was very jaundice. Unfortunately, that didn't rank very severe on their charts. I waited for over three hours until I finally cause a scene. I was not impressed. I have had and delivered six children at this hospital. The nurses were so so. More often than not I would sneak in my own Tylenol because I had to beg for several hours to get some. I asked for orange juice at nine in the morning with my last delivery. At noon they called back and asked if I ever got it. I had not. I had a nurse who refused to give me Tylenol and Motrin alternating although that was the doctor's orders. I'd go here in a pinch but elsewhere if my doctor did.

PROS: Close to home
CONS: Not very efficient nurses

I will Hopefully Never go to this place agian ! As I was moving in To Essex, I discovered I needed to go to the emergency room, to have a dangerous cyst lanced. I was ina good deal of pain and all alone in this state, waiting for friends to arrive a few days later. The Hospital staff was extremely rude and after being told I wasn't allowed to be seen with a "parent" ( I haven't been 18 in AGES ! ) I was left alone in a room, unattended for several hours, until the cyst burst all by itself, and my screams could be heard through out the hallways.

When the Staff arrived just before I passed out, there was no apoligy and even more rudeness. Finally I was released, with no real care given other than several hundred dollars worth of prescriptions !

Go to John's Hopkins Instead !

PROS: None I can think of
CONS: Expensive, rude staff, long unattended waits

Franklin Square is the closest emergency room to my house, so I have been there a few times. The layout of the emergency room is better than some I've seen - it is easy to find and get to the dropoff, and the checkin/triage desk is always staffed and right by the entrance. The waiting room is spacious and clean. It can take a while to see a doctor based on your complaint, but that's standard for any emergency room. The doctors my family has seen have been friendly and taken time to address all questions and concerns. A good place to go at bad times.
