This place was a total disapointment. I signed a lease with them and on my move in date the townhome they gave us was totally unlivable. We brought this to their attention and we were promised that it would be ready for us the next week because there had been an over sight in inspecting the home... It wasn't finished by then. In fact the only thing the fixed was putting in a few door stoppers and fixing the exhaust hose to the dryer. The only good thing I can say about this place is that they let us out of our lease and promptly returned all of our money.
Here is a few things that were wrong with the home:
Roaches everywhere, cracked glass in the door, door was chewed up(looked like from a dog), basement door didn't lock, water damage everywhere, holes in the basement walls (you could see into the neighbors basement, pipes with rags shoved into them instead of being capped off, no utility sink in the basement ( so the hose for the washing machine just sat barely into a drain in the floor, doorknobs barely hang on, trash all in front and behind the home, the porch was falling apart, the neighbors had about 6 bags of trash by their basement door (which stayed there for 2 weeks at least... it was still there when we decided never to come back.

Very bad place to live! 1. I can't take a shower because the upstairs neighbor uses the hot water constantly. 2. Bags of Trash in the hallway, steps are dirty , and urine smells everyday. 3. Dog feces in the front on both sides of the walk way. Kids play in the grass out front. I took photos and documented everything. That is unacceptable and nasty . I pay my money to live here and countless times I reported and nothing. I'm taking the next step in contacting a few people including the health department. I refuse to pay my money and live under these filthy conditions.

When we first moved to Oak Grove we had a lot of issues, such as hot water, trash all over the place, hallways being filthy, pet droppings all over the sidewalks and yards, etc. However, since changing staff members things have gotten much better. Staff is very friendly and listens to your complaints. Issues are being addressed and resolved in a timely manner. There is a new maintenance supervisor who is really doing a great job. The hallways are being cleaned regularly by an agency. Plus there is a monthly email going out to residents to let you know what is going on in your community and if there are any issues, what you can do to make them better. Due to these changes we have decided to stay another year. Thank you Oak Grove for making our community a better place to live!

Lived there for 2+ years. I was so thankful to leave. Dirt cheap prices is what brought me in cause I needed something inexpensive. I made a big mistake. This place is such a dump and so are the people who live there. Every single neighbor I had was complete trash. The buildings are filthy and laundry rooms are straight out of a horror film. NEVER PUT YOURSELF THROUGH THIS!! I swear all this is true.

I lived in Oak Grove for several years but now have moved out. I raised my children in what once was a safe and quiet environment. Now under new management the apartments are not the same. They are doing cheap Improvements to attract new tenants, locking them into a 1 year lease and forgetting about them. Got a complaint ? No need to call maint for it will be weeks before they come, if at all. The free heat and hot water they so proudly advertise is not what you expect. The heat they control, and the water is only luke warm at best. In the winter the room temp averages around 60. Quite cold, so Invest in some electric heaters,
The parking is poor, My vehicle was vandalise several times over the years," My advice to you is don't park in the rear lots" and was struck by the passing drunks coming from the corner liquor store on several occasions. " good luck trying to catch them". My neighbor was a drunk /Druggie who on several occasions couldn't find enough dignity to make it up the steps, so they passed out on the steps making it impossible to get into the building. Drug dealers roam the sidewalks confronting passerbyers as they come home from work and children as they wait for the school bus.The laundry rooms are a nightmare. Drugs/sexual activity is a common occurrence. as is the trash, graffiti ,rodents and roaches. Management doest care, they only take notes and forget. The trash service is poor, With trash piled up around the cans and piles alongside makes for a great Environment for the rats and roaches that Inhibit this complex. I could continue but I wont, It was home for years but now I have found a better place " at the same price" only a couple miles away. I do have to pay for the heat, But for Once I can say " you get what you pay for ". My advise to you is don't move here. There is much better out there if you research it.

Good afternoon, you scuttling bastards.

I tried to be reasonable with you. At first, we had a stable relationship. I knew you were there, and every now and then I'd see one of you, but in general you kept quiet and had the good sense to scurry for hiding when I turned the lights on. One of you periodically stepped out of line, and had to be squashed, and then everything went back to normal. If you had just continued in that manner, we could have lived this entire year in peaceful coexistence.

But no, you had to get greedy. I began to see you more frequently, and in larger numbers. Your lights-on scurry grew slower and slower and became more of a relaxed trot, then a walk. Eventually, you had the audacity to sit right where you were and shake your head feelers at me. You had gone too far. It was time for war.

I began periodic sweeps of the apartment, armed with paper towels, and squashed anything that moved. I removed every possible food source from anywhere you might be able to reach it, even adding extra layers of wrapping to items in the fridge, just in case one of you somehow managed to make it inside. A couple of times, I even turned the lights off and stood motionless for five minutes, then flicked them back on and rained horrible death upon whichever of you had been lured out. I really thought this would have been enough to make my point.

However, you continued to defy all logic and reasoning, and to multiply and grow bolder. Three of you ran across my foot once; I killed two, but left one alive (but severely maimed) to tell the tale... clearly, you were beginning to affect my sanity, and I needed to up the ante in order to regain the upper hand in the battle for control of my apartment. So, I added the roach spray to my arsenal. This had little effect and made my apartment smell extremely questionable; I guess you vermin won that round.

I notified the management company, who has not been very responsive to any problems I have had with the place. There was some vague talk of fumigating or spraying or some other unspecified pest removal solution; somehow it kept falling through the cracks, and nothing ever happened. Well, I'm not sure who you bribed or threatened for that little stunt, but it was time to show you little 6-legged thugs that I wasn't afraid of you, no matter what kind of "connections" you had.

I had no alternative, I had to buy the roach poison traps. The way these are supposed to work is this - the cockroach smells the tasty poison/food, wanders into the trap, eats, returns to his/her hiding place, and then dies. The practical result is that they should appear to vanish from your home like magic. However, you at my apartment had grown not only bold, but complacent. After eating, you all just kinda decided to hang out for a while, and as a result died in an odd sort of corpse constellation across my kitchen floor.

The destruction was horrific. Some of your dead were being carried off by those who survived, almost like soldiers dragging the wounded into foxholes. Many of you were still twitching, apparently writhing in agony from the effects of the poison. The ravages of war are never pretty, and being a gentle person, part of me felt a little bit of remorse.

But now you know that it is, as they say, "on", and I'll push you f-ers all the way back to apartment 601 if I have to...

Sincerely,
Fellow Apartment Dweller at Oak Grove Apts.

I have been living in Oak Grove Apts for over ten years. When Micozzi Management was running the show here, it was a pretty good place to live. Since Morgan Properties took over this place has gone down terribly.
Don't even think about calling maintenance to get something fixed. You may as well fix it yourself because maintenance is busy renovating other apartments so that they can jack the rent up to $680.00 a month for a one bedroom apt. That's right Ashley $680.00 a month, not $560 as you say. The laundry rooms smell like urine and feces, and the drug dealers don't even try to hide what they are doing on the street corners. People have begun to jokingly call this place Coke Grove.
And if you are not careful they will have your vehicle towed away and impounded by mc-n-mc towing while you are not looking. This place is a dump.

It's true that this is a lower-income community, but everyone here is friendly, hard-working and honest! The rent is very cheap, only $560 for a one-bedroom apartment with a spacious dining room and kitchen, and large living room, and a good-sized bedroom. The rent is almost $100 cheaper than all the other area apartment complexes. The parking is ample and there are lots of trees around. The buildings are old but taken care of, and everything but electricity is free! Our neighbors are friendly and the office staff here is friendly as well. A cute little community!

Edited to Add: The reviewer above me, Jim, seems to want to dispute the rent amount that I quoted, and I'd like to point out that my review was posted a full two years before his. In the nearly three years since I resided there, rent has since gone up at Oak Grove and the management has changed. I am not able to comment on the current state of the buildings, neighborhood, or maintenance team since I have since moved out. I will say that $680 rent is still VERY cheap for area.

PROS: Parking, cheap rent, safe area!
CONS: Buildings are older and a little rundown, but safe and clean.
