CCHA is a townhouse-style office where a variety of alternative practitioners (NOT JUST ACUPUNCTURE, hopefully the categories will be updated) share space.

When you enter the building, there is no receptionist; just a somewhat "zen" waiting room, with a fountain, plants, and lots of self-help and philosophical/spiritual reading material to pass the time until your appointment. (I've worked my way through 2 enjoyable books I would not have read otherwise -- Gesundheit, and the Tao of Pooh -- while waiting for Roberta Jacobs, whom I've reviewed separately.) You'll need to sit-test the variety of mostly-mismatched furniture to find a seat that works for you. I like this quirk... reuse of furniture is eco-friendly and thrifty! (Remember, if your doctor's office has fancy furniture, YOU are paying for it!)

There is a bulletin board near the door for special events and offers, and a business card rack with cards for the practitioners in the building. There is also a rotating exhibition of local artists' works along the walls and running up the stairwell. You can arrange to buy one of them if you like; prices and availability are on the bulletin board.

Most of the treatment rooms are upstairs (no elevator), but there is a conference/classroom downstairs which can accommodate the disabled most of the time. If you are disabled, be sure to schedule your appointment around the availability of that room.

The parking spaces right outside the door are usually taken, but additional parking is available just a few steps away. I've been there many times (in a large vehicle!) and never lacked for a place to park.

My only complaints about the place all tend to be the fault of the landlord -- entry door slamming, unbalanced HVAC, bee/wasp nests not taken care of, landscaping not maintained, and having to dodge poorly-placed sprinklers (running at MIDDAY... d'oh!). I'm sure CCHA pays a pretty penny in rent; it's a shame the landlord's lax maintenance reflects on the facili

PROS: many alternative therapies under one roof
CONS: limited office staff -- you may have to wait for a call back
