I took my car to zamoras after an accident because a few friends had been to Zamoras a long time ago when they were a small shop. Now they have a large facility in Gaithersburg and Frederick. When I saw how successfull their autobody business was, I felt assured that they would do a good job. Well turns out success came at a huge price, and that price was quality. They basically do the bare minimal to repair a car, and hope the owner will not notice the poor job and happily take his car. I imagine this saves alot of cash with the tight profit-margins the insurance companies allow. So here's my story:
I was rear ended, my bumper needed replacing, I had a slight dent in my trunk lid, and the bumper no longer lined up with the right taillight. I brought my car to Zamora's for a week. The first time I came to pick it, it had paint drips, and orange peel all over. (for those that don't know, orange peel looks like little dots all over the clear coat). The chrome trim that wrapped the bumper was mounted to the left, so the end of the trim did not reach end of the right side of the bumper. The slight-dent was still on my truck lid. And the bumper did not align with the tail-light. Basically it just looked like they did a poor job painting the bumper. The guy at Zamora's offered to fix my car properly at a later date, and he suggested I sign off on the release and take my car home. I didn't fall for that trap. I told them to fix the car, and call me. So three days later he called me. I looked at my car, and they fixed the chrome trim, and wet sanded some of the orange peel. The paint still looked like crap, and they missed the paint drips. The tail light was still not lining up with the bumper. The dent was still present. THEN I WALKED AROUND TO THE FRONT OF MY CAR, AND NOTICED A TWO FOOT LONG WHITE PAINT STREAK ON MY FRONT BUMPER, and CRACKED PAINT. Zamora's drove my car on the street or parking lot and hit another car or stationary object. Immediately the manager came out, and denied hit happened on his property, but said "since I'm a nice guy, I'll fix it for you free". So now my front bumper is messed up too. I came back a third time, and most of the orange peel was gone, the tail light still does not line up with the bumper, and the dent in my trunk is still there. I took my car, and prayed I would not have to go back to Zamora's ever again. This all happened 2 years ago. Now the paint is peeling off my rear bumper, and since they garrenteed the work for life, I am going to call them. I guess I am a'glutten for punishment.
If you can avoid Zamora's, avoid it like the black plague.
