The hit or miss comment was totally off. Ambrosia offers the best gyros in town...bar none! It merely sounds like some fat loser, who lives alone, goes to this place because he loves it...probably had a bad day and wanted to take it out on some innocent Greeks, who have a great establishment.

Hard to tell what you'll get here. First, they advertised specials that they were out of. The Beef Stefado is usually great; the souvlaki's (or anything grilled) are hit or miss. A couple of times the chicken was much too dry. Same with the gyros - about one quarter of the meat is usually too dry, overcooked to bacon land. Last time I was there, the service was terrible - the waiters were chatting with each other while we were waiting to order. The waiter brought water but no menus. Went back, chatted a bit, brought the menus. Same with getting the bill. You get the feeling that you eat and pay on their schedule, not on yours.

Will probably visit again for the beef stefado, but losing my interest otherwise.

I've been going to Ambrosia since they were at Congressional Plaza in the early 80's. Always superior food, good price. Whether you want a burger, chicken souvlaki, a gyro (and you can order extra meat), or the Greek special of the day, it's great. The waitresses/waiters provide great service now too.

PROS: Excellent food, good price
CONS: none

Ambrosia has absolutely the best gyros in the Montgomery County area. Priced at about $5 per gyro, they don't skimp out on the meat and so give you lots of it. The meat is verey tasty too. Quick carryout service, and a nice dine in service make this restaurant number 1. They have been in business for a very long time. Highly recommended!
