I would NOT recommend this shop to friends and family. I took my car to this shop because it had failed an emissions test in VA and exhaust manifolds were getting red hot and because I often listen to Pat Goss on radio. I called his shop to make an appointment, the service advisor, Billy, told me that it would cost around $180 to diagnose the problem. So. I dropped off my car and later received a call indicating that the car was running lean and they would have to spend more time diagnosing the problem. I gave him go ahead to try to find the problem. Next day, I receive another call from Billy indicating that fuel injectors were faulty (he told me that resistance was out of factory specification) and they were around $280 a piece and I would need 6 of them; he did offer that I could provide him with fuel injectors and he would be OK with installing them. So I overnighted the parts and it only cost me around $280 for all six fuel injectors. I get another call from Billy indicating that the new injectors had high resistance; I told him that the resistance did match manufacture specifications. I told him to go ahead and install the new injectors since he already had the intake off and I had already purchased the parts. I get another call that installing the new injectors didn't solve the problem (If I would have them install their injectors it would have cost me additional $1400 and yes I did confirm that the price they quoted me was for a single injector and not the set). I get another call from Billy saying that the TPS readings were out of spec and he recommended installing a new one at cost of around $80, so I told him to go ahead and install a new TPS but perform no further repairs if that didn't fix the problem. I called Billy and asked what my air fuel mixture was since he had indicated that my car was running lean and VA emission test had indicated that it was running real rich and what was my exhaust manifold temperature. He didn't give me air fuel mixture but told me that my exhaust manifold was at 1000F. I asked him to fax me an invoice so I could look it over before arriving at the shop. On the invoice he listed that my car had 14.7:1 air fuel mixture and this is exactly what any modern emission car should have according to federal emission laws, so I don't know why he had been telling me that my car was running lean. I did a little bit of further research and seems like it's common fallacy that if the car is running lean your exhaust temperatures would be high. So this whole time, I was paying for parts and repairs because this shop doesn't know what they are talking about. I printed couple of publications about exhaust manifold temperatures and information about air fuel mixtures. When I tried to explain Billy that his understanding about lean mixtures and exhaust temperature was correct he got really defensive and told me that he really didn't care what I had to say. I finally gave him a print out of the publications I had based my research on. He told me that he would provide the mechanic who worked on my car with the printouts. Good work Goss's garage! you just charged me $800 because you really don't understand how cars work! What were you diagnosing? if my car was running with the correct air fuel mixture of 14.7: 1. BTW, my car exhaust manifold still gets red hot and turns out that my cars computer was still in Open mode (new battery had been installed thus reseting the car's ECU, so the ECU was still in learning mode) when the VA emission test was done!

I've been taking my cars there for years and the service is stellar. My biggest recommendation is don't go in there thinking you've diagnosed the problem correctly and you're bringing it there simply to have them do the repair (actually, don't do this with any repair shop). Simply explain the problem you're experiencing as accurately as you can and let them do all of the diagnostic work and prepare the estimate.

No only will your car be repaired/serviced correctly, but the knowledge you gain on preventative maintenance is worth its weight in gold. Why? Because even if you move from the area, you'll know how to keep a car running many, many miles more than without the knowledge.

This all began when the Volvo dealer said that my ABS module had to be replaced at an incredible cost. I decided to give this guy I hear on the radio a shot. What can it cost? Turns out that the problem was a $35 relay in the ABS system! Already I've saved over $1,000.

Then, the dealer tells me that I need a new A/C compressor. But Goss' Garage determines that it's only a $140 clutch. That's another $1,000+!

Sure, they are human. But it'll take a lot of human mistakes before the experience turns negative, dollar-wise!

Highly recommended.

I took my truck in there and told them I thought the rear end was bad (after loud metal clanking and coming to grinding halt). They checked it and called me and said no, rear end's fine, it's your transfer case. I go buy the transfer case myself and have it delivered. They call me the next day saying oh we looked at it again and it's actually the rear end. so i had to deal with that. After that, I never went back (and they didn't even compensate me for all the difference of the money i lost, just partial) And this was at Pat Goss's garage in MD (of course he's don't work there but still, i expected more).

I have no idea anything about cars. When I need something repaired I?m lost. I find that most auto shops have terrible customer service. They really have no idea how to relate to their customers. I love coming because they explain everything very thoroughly and do a wonderful job. I?m a big fan of this place.

After listening to Pat Goss on the radio for years, I decided to take my car in for service. They made me feel important, and never once talked down to me because I am female. They did a very thorough job, and ran all the diagnostics. They gave me a full report and explained everything in layman's terms. They never pressured me to getting anything done, and the price was more reasonable than the dealer's price. They really know how to put your mind at ease. I will always go to Goss for all my car repairs.

My dealership could never get it right. Goss' garage is run by a family. Once they take on your vehicle you're part of the family. Count on honest, standby their work, repairs. They'll tell you exactly what's wrong and fix it with a warranty. My brother has been using them for decades. He won't let anyone else touch his cars. And now that I've tried them, I won't either. Worried about having to return over and over. You won't! When they do it, they do it right the first time.

PROS: National Fame from radio show!
CONS: Cost a little more, but worth it for piece of mind!
