Wonder Book has been recycling millions of books (and CDs/DVDs etc) since 1980. We are largest used bookstore on the East Coast. Open EVERYDAY 10am-10pm. We BUY ALL books from the public everyday 10-4 at our store. (Be advised most books have VERY little resale value and we are forced to pay accordingly). we stock books and movies for the whole family in all categories. FRESH stock everyday!!

Bad experience.

I used to be a regular customer at Wonder Book & Video because they had a decent selection and better prices on movie rentals, even if the store's appearance was less than glamorous. Then they sent me to a collection agency over $6 in late fees. Yes, they ruined my credit over SIX DOLLARS without so much as a phone call. I'm not too crazy about the competing rental places on 40, but I've had no trouble at all since switching to NetFlix.

The Wonder Book & Video shop has a great selection of books! Sometimes you seem to get lost but it's fun to see what kind of great deals you can find. They have something for everyone at a great price.

Good for browsing

This store has a huge variety of new and used books. You will be able to find exactly what you are looking for there. The prices are great and the staff is incredible. They know exactly where to look to find the book you are looking for. I love to go there to find books that are out of print. They also sell used videos.

Wonder Book and video is the perfect place to browse for long forgotten books, music, or movies. They are incredibly well stocked and have excellent prices. They also buy your used books, music and movies, so you can constantly keep your collection updated. If you cant find it there- it might not be able to be found!

If you need a book...

If you need any type of book or just want to browse this is the place to go.They have every book under the sun here. A great childrens section. Plus cd's and videos/dvds and movie rentals. Prices are fair , parking is plentiful. Service is good and checkout is easy. The stores a bit cramped but that's why you can find any book you may want to in this store ! They have 2 locations in Frederick. The one on Patrick street is the best store out of the 2 but if you can't find what you need there they will call the other store and see if what you are looking for is over there. Great customer service !

WOW, so many books, so little time

Wonder is an amazing place. They offer the widest selection of used books you can imagine. They also always have a great selection of movies and even TV series on DVD. My husband and I quit going to Blockbuster because they never had the latest releases. You can always get them at Wonder.
Wonder also buys used books. They used to give really great deals, but the last time I went to cash in they had changed the policy and it is not worth your time.
It's hard to make a quick stop at Wonder. Try to go when you have time to browse.

Wonder Book & Video -- a Time Warp

When you go into Wonder Book & Video time just flies away into a black hole. If you like books and you like to poke this is an awesome place to burn a couple of hours on a dreary wet day. Of course, bringing a toddler in tow does limit the poking time -- BUT still a great time for the two of you. I also received an email from them recently, and they have added a $1 section. Haven't checked it out yet, but it certainly sounds like a great deal!

Bibliophiles in other cities would love to have Wonder Book & Video in their town

Frederick County is lucky to be home to Wonder Book & Video. USA Today gave them a very favorable review a few years ago, citing them as one of '10 great places to crawl between the covers.'

The Wonder stores are great places to browse -- you never know what you're going to find. They carry a wide range of movies that you can't find elsewhere in town; they sell hard cover new releases for surprisingly low prices, and they really have a great online store.

Keep an eye out for discount coupons.

NOTE: The store on Rte. 40 has, by far, the best selection. The one on Jefferson is much smaller and seems to sell lower-end merchandise.

PROS: A fun place to explore; cheap hard cover new releases
CONS: They have so much stuff that it can be hard to find what you're looking for
