I am really surprised this place is still in business. Years ago I had sworn off going back to Bagel Works in Towson/Timonium unless I had two hours to spend getting a bagel or simple breakfast. The service was always painfully slow.
Today, the place I wanted to go was closed so I decided against my better judgement to give it a try and I was reminded why I made my original pledge.
It took our waitress 10-15 minutes to even greet us and we never got our food. After an additional 45 minutes we just left. We would have complained but there were also people there who had been seated before us who hadn't gotten any food, so we knew we weren't the only one. We ordered a bagel with cream cheese, two bagels with eggs, and a turkey sandwich. Yep, and after an hour, we still hadn't received our food.
AND this is the exact same experience we had the other 3-4 times we had been there - about 30-45 minutes to get a simple order.
The crazy thing is, the place didn't seem that busy. I think it is a systematic problem. It seems to me, based on observation, that people who come in for takeout get first priority. Those sitting in the dining room are left to languish. They need to have a separate area for takeout and dining.
If you are going to get takeout, you may be fine. I think it is still slow, but not nearly so because they don't want people loitering around. If you want to sit down, save yourself the hassle. This place is the worst.

All of the other reviews rave about Bagel Works bagels betting just as good as New York bagels. Take it from a New Yorker (recently transplanted to Maryland) these bagels are NOT even close to the same. Don't get me wrong; Bagel Works has okay bagels, above average when compared to other bagels found in Maryland. However, the bagels are a bit too dense and tend to be a little over cooked. Maryland is renowned for it's seafood, not bagels...so for those who have never had a true New York bagel, Bagel Works fits the bill for yummy.

Wegman's has them, but until now, I hadn't seen them in a regular bagel shop in MD. I didn't think to see if they also had egg everything, but it wouldn't surprise me in the least. Perk Avenue, which shares the shop, has very good coffee.

Bagel Works is a little place that cranks out big fat New York Style bagels all day long. I used to live in NYC and I can tell you that these are as good as any you can get there. Lots of flavors, too---and they have tables with a full breakfast/lunch menu. I prefer to get a big bag of bagels to take home. The service is a bit slow at times and parking is very limited---really crazy during Sunday brunch hours. They also close pretty early each day so don't count on stopping by late to get tomorrow's breakfast bagels.

Bagel Works wants you to know that they've won Baltimore's Best Bagels for a few years running now. I gotta say, whoever decides on the winner of this award made the right choice as far as I can tell. They're just great bagels, not too tough, not too airy, and every variety I've had is great, especially the Asiago. Lots of stuff on the menu, even things like pancakes.

I only withheld a fifth star because they always seem to give me a strangely thin layer of cream cheese. I like more cheese than this.
