My Nail and Pedicure Tech Matt, has been doing my nails for the past 5 years. He is working at Mia's Nail, at the John Hopkins shopping center on rt 3. He does a superb job on my nails and feet. I have had no issues with any of my nails popping off. Right now I have the pink and white nails and I just love them. I recommend Matt to anyone that is in search of a nail tech that is sure to give you the quality you deserve. You won't be disappointed I promise you that. A friendly, family oriented relaxing place to come too. :)

I have been going to MAI Nails for about 3 years now and will not go anywhere else for nail services. The staff are extremely respectful, pleasant and know every customers first name. If you aren't happy with something, they are always willing to do whatever is needed to make you a happy customer. I am a pretty picky customer and I have never left the salon unhappy with my service. There are several other nail salons in the area, but I rwill not go anywhere else :)

The negative comments below are DEFINITELY confusing the Mai Nails in Crofton/Gambrills with the one in Annapolis. The one in Annapolis may have poor service, but the one in Crofton (corner of Johns Hopkins and Rt. 3) definitely has the most superior service I have ever seen. The owner knows every customer's name -- I am always amazed at how she can personally greet every person by name who walks in the salon. The manicures and pedicures I have received there over the last year have all been excellent. If anyone is every unhappy with a service, Mai will not rest until she makes it right. She takes her business very seriously and it shows.

I think that the negative reviews regarding Mai Nails are confusing the Annapolis salon with the one in the Crofton/Gambrills area which is located on the corner of Johns Hopkins Rd and Rt. 3 North. The one I have been a customer of for the last 3 and a half years has given outstanding services and it is the one in the Crofton/Gambrills area. My three daughters and I have gotten manicures, pedicures, pink and white nails and waxing all done with attention to detail and with polite customer service. The owner is serious about having each of her employees provide the best customer service to every client and runs a salon that I'm very glad to recommend to neighbors and friends.

It distresses me to read the negative comments read here.
I have been a customer of Mai Nails in Crofton (NOT Annapolis) for 6 years, ever since they opened and have had perfect pedicures that last even when I wear sandals all the time, and manicures that are as good as the pedicures. The staff is very friendly, and very thourough. I have been to very expensive spas and haven't gotten nearly as relaxing and lasting results.
I do hope that the customers who wrote the negative reviews were confused and are NOT writing about the salon in Crofton, but another one with unfortunately the same name.

Let me begin by stating that I do not write reviews. However, I am compelled to leave a thorough and detailed review for the lack of service and treatment that I recieved.
The type of nails that I requested and given were "Pink and whites" aka Acyrlics. I was a litle suspicious when the wife was the only employee and person in the store. However she called her husband in to help her with my nails. (Red Flag #1)

She had stated they were arguing and when he arrived you could sense the tension in the air. Once he arrived he took over taking approx. an 1 1/2-2hrs to complete my nails (Red Flag #2)

After I was finished.. and to my astonshiment the total was $58. But being new to the area and unfamiliar with the prices, this was fine by me. I left a tip and headed home.

2 days passed and 2 nails had already broken. So the first thing to come to mind would be well how did I break them? I am a stay at home mom. My son is 6 and my guess is as good as anybodys. A week passed and now have 5 out of 10 finger nails broken.

A fill should be done every 2-3 weeks. (Here is a link providing the facts: http://www.nailcarebycindy.com/faq.html#faq-09)
So that time frame has not yet been reached.

I walk into file my complaint and politely ask the wife to come over to the side so that I may talk to her when she is available. She walked half way towards me and said, "What is this about?" I walked up to her and whispered in her ear, "Can we talk privately? I do not want to complain in front of your customers." She said, "No, just tell me what it is." So I showed her my nails and explained I was not happy and that they were too thin, I gave her an example by popping off one of the nails right in front of her. She quickly accused me, saying it must have been something that I did. I replied to her accusations telling her that it wasn't and that I am a stay at home mom. She asked who did the nails and my response was her husband. (He did the majority of work on them.) She responded with relief saying, "Then talk to my husband."

He came over and said, "What's the problem?" I explained the same thing to him and showed him my nails. He pointed to a sign that was not very noticeable.. inside of a glass showcase, at floor level, that said NO REFUNDS, NO EXCHANGES. So therefore, I apologized and said that I did not see his sign, however, I did not feel that if the nails were re-done, that it wouldn't make much of a difference because they were applied so thinly and that I would like a refund. (Mind you his voice and level of sterness is one of an angry father) He said that they had to be put on thin or they wouldn't look right. I said yes, but as I showed your wife they are so thin that I just popped this nail off (The nail was resting in the palm of my hand) After I stated that he told me to stop arguing. This I was confused by. The 3 customers in the store have just watched me be assaulted and yelled at by this man. He said I will be nice and fix them, sit down. And walked away.

However, the way he had just treated me was not nice, unprofessional and many octanes higher than what is acceptable for any person to be treated in a place of business. I walked out called my boyfriend and told him that I could not sit and have my nails done by someone who has now tried to embarrass me and accuse me of being wrong, He was so rude I started to cry, while on the phone with my boyfriend, explaining to him that, because of the way I was treated I would rather go in, deny his offer, show the 3 customers my nails and express his lack of good service and poor treatment (Which they already knew because they witnessed it) and leave.

And so I did. I walked around to all 3 customers, showed them my nails with tears in my eyes, stated they were unprofessional and left.

My boyfriend came down for support and while I waited in the car he walked in and also asked that my $58 be returned or he would call the police. The husband/owner took it upon himself to call and so we waited outside the establishment because we were asked to leave. (and the owner has the right to do so.)

The police officer arrived, I showed him my nails gave him the story... and his response was, "Oh this has happened before." A SIGH OF RELIEF CAME OVER ME! I was not the only one his has recieved such poor service.

End of the story is, I was never returned the money but I left with more that day, I left with the support of my boyfriend and the police officer, who tried his best to get my money returned.

Shopping for the right nail salon, I felt sure I was in the right place on my first visit...WRONG!
First visit- nail tech (apparently the owner) was doing my fill and was very critical of my previous nail job, I sooo agreed! She convinced me of all the reasons why I should use her salon; how she wants to please her clients. Also, said that I didnt need gel fills anymore and proceeded with acrylic fill.
$5 dollar tip for 20. fill
Second visit (fill) I left VERY HAPPY; my nails looked beautiful!
$5 tip -
Strangely, 5 days later 2 nails came off, next day 2 more nails then, by the time I needed my fill all but my thumb nails popped off!!
Sadly we had a death and funeral we were preoccupied with, I was unable to get back to salon. 3 weeks had gone by. I called her for a full set, she said she couldnt do it
at that time, and recommended one of her staff. I told her I was reluctant to let just anybody do it and she convinced me, " we will do a good job".
I arrived and walked over to Mai (who was counting $$) showed her my nails, told her how they all popped off within 10 days and who was going to do the fill. She totally ignored what I said, and pointed to a chair saying sit down there. When the guy finally arrived, I told him about my nails and wanting a feminine look. He blew me off and said ok.,ok.
By the end of my set- 2 hours later, with his many snide comments; one to the owner; that she gave him a loose, loose situation, with me sitting in his chair!! His rough pulling and tugging on my hands, by the time I was finished I had the thickest, widest, ugliest nails I have ever had.
I said to Mai look at this, its not right. Their sooo thick, just like you said they shouldnt be thick, when first came in. I should have waited to get an appt with you!
SHE DIDNT RESPOND and TOTALLY IGNORED ME AGAIN!
The reason I am writing this, perhaps Mai will ignore my concern again and..
PLEASE don't let this happen to you!!!

PROS: looks clean, seemed friendly
CONS: tech had to look for his tools,
