Bill and Marshall are great teachers.
Even though I'm a foreigner, they teached me very very well.

I really appreciated it.

I hope many people learn and have good experience in Potomac Driving School like me.

Do not go to this school. Driving instructors do not do what they are suppose to do. For the test they are suppose to teach parallel parking and rear 2 way point turnabout. They only teach parallel parking and nothing else. When you call them back and complain they are saying that you are lying and that instructor is always right.

This place is awful. T

he classroom was satisfactory, I suppose, though the teacher spoke quickly in bad English and blamed everything on us. The behind the wheel instruction was horrible. The instructor was rude, unhelpful, unpleasant, and domineering. He never explained any of the rules of the road; instead, he just grabbed the wheel randomly from me. Without ever explaining why.

Today, 11/1/2010, I finally passed the MVA test and got my license. I took the classroom course in summer 2009, and the behind the wheel driving in June 2010. I failed the MVA test twice because my behind the wheel instructor failed to inform me that the test had changed as of June 2010, and therefore never taught me how to back in to a parking space. His technique for parallel parking was also sloppy. When I called after wards to complain about this and schedule more supplementary behind the wheel sessions, they told me to basically suck it up. All they care about is your $$$$$, which being in Potomac, they probably make plenty of. I had to spend close to 5 frustrating months and 3 attempts at the MVA test before I finally got my license.

In the end, I took a single session at Uncle Sam's driving school, which corrected many of the fundamental mistakes taught to me by the instructors of the Potomac Driving School. I feel that single two hour session taught me more than they could have in a hundred hours.

Do not go here. This place is rotten and was directly responsible for my struggle over the past five months to get a license, something that could have easily been avoided if they had done their jobs correctly.

My instructor (who is also the manager of the business) made comments towards the girls that I found to be very derogatory and inappropriate. He would consistently let us out of class 30 minutes early, skipped over a unit, and spent a lot of the class time speaking with various students in their native languages, which left us hardly anytime to watch the videos we were supposed to watch; he would fast forward through the majority of them. The office staff is also very rude, and will go out of their way to NOT help you, starting from when the day I went to sign up for a class. And when my class ended, the instructor (also the manager) told me to go to the office to schedule my in-car sessions; the lady in the office told me that they were not allowed to schedule in-car sessions until August 1st and that I needed to call back (mind you, this was the second week of June). I tried calling back during business hours, and the lady that answered the phone did not even give me the chance to finish my sentence; she told me that I needed to call back during business hours to schedule my in-car session (this was at 2pm in the afternoon- they advertise their business hours to be until 6pm). The only reason that I took my driving classes there was because my I Drive Smart driving certificate had expired, and Potomac Driving School was the cheapest in the area. Thankfully I had already taken driver's ed, otherwise I would not have learned the laws of the roads properly.

He would consistently let us out of class 30 minutes early, skipped over a unit, and spent a lot of the class time speaking with various students in their native languages, and when we did watch the videos, he fast forwarded through them 70% of the time. The office staff is also very rude, and will go out of their way to NOT help you. Pros: many locations, many classtimes

Cons: rude office staff, hardly any material taught in class

.

This driving school fulfills the requirements for Maryland Instruction for teens getting their licenses. There is in classroom teaching taught in a variety of locations, one being Walt Whitman. The instructors are generally pretty good at holding the attention of the class and at educating them on safety. There are videos shown and quizzes at the end of each class. The in car driving is done in their car and is very helpful. The in car instruction is probably more important that the classroom teaching, but overall it is very good.

PROS: Great In car instruction
CONS: in classroom not great
