This is not Mexican food...it was honestly disgusting and not edible. When the waitress came and saw our full plates..she didn't even bother to ask how it was, she asked if we wanted a to go box..we said no, and she took the plates away.
The combination plate was hard to look at, just thick globs of tomato and cheese...
The chips were cold, not even sure what the salsa was.
Only good thing is the location, and the little candies we got after the meal.
I would rather eat at Taco Bell....Gordon Ramsey would have a field day with this place.

One of the biggest fake-outs in Frederick. Many locals tout it as being the best Mexican food in the area, but this is not the truth by any means. The food is substandard, the service is usually slow and impersonal, and the prices make you feel gouged. What people love it for is the great location and the loaded drinks. The menu was created by a group of white people who think Mexican equals plenty of tomato sauce ladeled over various questionable tortillas. Not worth it at all.

Honestly - low grade dog food. We gave this place 3 tries in a year to see if it would change and it worsened each time. The Place was ok a few years ago but went down hill fast in the last 2 years. Everything was bad, the drinks, the food, the service. we had to have one of our entrees cancelled and removed from the bill because it was inedible. Nothing was fresh or home made all canned and frozen. we felt really bad for the waiter he tried his best and new everything about the dinner was miserable. I don't know how they stay in business.

this is a wonderful Frederick landmark offering the best margaritas and salsa in town. a great patio and a good offering for a variety of ages - even babies!

By far the worst Mexican food I have ever eaten. The salsa is like stewed tomatoes. The sauce on my enchiladas had no flavor and looked like a can of crushed tomatoes was dumped on it. The chicken was cubed and did not adhere to the corn tortilla that was now soggy from the mushy tomatoes on it. This restaurant has a great location and serves Sol beer. When we left after finishing half our meal the hostess was sitting in the doorway floor writing specials on the chalkboard. We practically had to step over her to leave. Don't be fooled by this place because it does have nice outdoor seating. The food was just awful and we will not go back nor recommend it.

I was hoping La Paz would be a Mexican restaurant I would want to visit again and again but, I was very disappointed. From the minute we walked in the door we were half-heartily greeted by a young hostess with an attitude, followed by an attitude from the waitress as well. The restaurant was not clean but worn. It is supposed to be a new building but, everything has a greasy dirty film to it, including the windows. We were seated ON he first floor, and I had a clear view into the kitchen every time the door was opened. I was appalled to see a young man peeling vegetables over a bowl with a lit cigarette hanging from his mouth. The food was unlike any Mexican food I have ever eaten in appearance, and taste. Not good...and the salsa was unique but, not salsa. We were extremely unhappy with our meals, the customer service and the overall atmosphere/dining experience. I am a downtown resident of Frederick, MD and made a promise to myself that I would never step a foot in, or give La Paz a single dime of my money again. I believe the only reason this restaurant continues to thrive is because there is very little competition and everyone seems to accept what it has to offer. La Paz is a glorified Taco Bell...and in fact, Taco Bell's food actually tastes better. Steer clear of this place, and don't waste your money. It is too bad La Paz takes up such a nice building and prime location downtown. I am eagerly awaiting for La Paz to go out of business, and a decent restaurant takes it's place.

Hope new location & new Kitchen enhance the great food. The Salsa is less than average, but the queso is it! Will tolerate the shredded salsa for the rest of the great Menu! Tasty after dinner mints!

I love Mexican food, and La Paz is the place to have it in Frederick. Their food is fresh and gorgeous, filling without being greasy at all. And the sangria- I order a pitcher every time! Be sure to try the nachos- they wont be what you are expecting, but they are delicious none the less.

My favorite mexican restaurant ever. Be prepared for a short wait in a cramped waiting area, especially if you go on the weekend. But it will be worth it. The salsa is a fresh as it gets and the margaritas are the best I have ever had. I am going to miss the cramped location when they move to their new digs later this year.

I love mexican & La Paz delivers!! Freshly made salsa and chips are complimentary - wonderful! My favorite dish is the bean and cheese burrito. Right now they are in a rather small, cramped facility, but are due to move soon. My husband will not go there until it moves because he feels you have to sit too close to people. There is also not enough room for a waiting area. Can't wait till the new facility is up and running.
