I moved from South Orange County, CA to Baltimore in the beginning of 2009. It was a struggle trying to find a good hair salon and person who specializes in blonds and cutting. After a month of researching, I found a highly recommended nice salon. I called and make an appointment with one of their colorists who is great with blondes. $210 and 3 hours later, I truly had one of the worst highlights in my 15 years of having my hair done. My hair was fried. The colorist, used straight bleach throughout my hair. Besides it not looking natural, it look dry and damaged. After another round of searching, I found Melanye (Fells Point Hair Salon). I had a consultation first and after speaking with Melanye, she just got it, plus her prices are so fair and her personality is so easy going; I made an appointment for the following month. She gave me a sample of some hair care for my damaged hair for the meantime, it helped significantly! Melany did an amazing job on my hair, it looked so good, natural highlights/lowlights, great hair cut at a very reasonable fee. I found what I was looking for! I recommend Melanye at Fells Point Salon.

I am DONE looking for the perfect stylist. I found Mel 3 salons ago and followed her to every one. I am so glad for her that her own salon is doing so well, she definately deserves it! She has cut my hair super-short, put in super long extensions, and every thing in between. I always look great and up to date but still professional for my job. When I got married 3 years ago, she did so many practices with my hair extensions I was a different person every week for months. The day of it looked perfect and natural and I felt beautiful. She even did my mother's hair that day. Thanks Mel!

I went into Fells Point Salon because I needed my dreads tightened up. Being a man of non color finding someone to be able to work on my dreads is hard because it is a totally different animal then the dreads of a person of color. I felt right at home in this laid back little shop . I hit it off with Mel and Stevie right away . They were funny and cool and excuse my french..." friggin HOTTIES!!" Mel was quite the expert with the dreads because she sports locks herself. She instructed me on care and upkeep I could do on my own as well. Stevie actually did the work on my dreads weaving loose hairs into my locks and it turned out great! If you don't get your hair done here by these gifted angels then you are stupid. Real stupid.

Melanye at Fells Point Salon gives the best mens haircut in Baltimore. I am very particular about my hair & have never had a better haircut. I've tried countless salons & could never quite get the cut I asked for. I explained to Melanye what I wanted & she cut my hair with a razor. It was the first time I ever had a razor cut & I am completely sold. I will never go anywhere else for a haircut. Melanye has cut my hair about 7 or 8 times now & every time it seems to look better than ever.

I just love the atmostphere and the creative hair cutting techniques Melanye comes up with. I know my hair will look amazing, so I just let her create the look she has in mind for me. I went to Fells Point Salon recently for a haircut and color. Stevie did an AMAZING job. She is a perfectionist and made sure that my haircut was perfect and my color was exactly what I wanted. To be perfectly honest, Stevie gave me the best haircut I have ever had. All of my friends and family have complimented me on my new hair, including my younger brother who usually could care less about my hair. I have found my new salon and stylist. I HIGHLY recommend Stevie to anyone and everyone I know.

I needed a style for my wedding and my friend recommended her stylist, Stevie. Not only did Stevie listen to my ideas and desires, but she went over and above by meeting with me on several occasions to pick out hair extensions and practice my wedding day style. She came with many wonderful ideas and was willing to make modifications so that my hair was exactly as I wanted it to be for my big day. All of her suggestions were absolutely perfect. I couldn't have been happier with my hair and everyone made numerous compliments. Stevie did an amazing job! She was personable, friendly and made every attempt to keep my pre-wedding jitters to a minimum. She took her time and made sure all the little details were attended to. Thank you! Thank you! It sucks that Stevie is working at Fells Point Salon only because I live in Virginia! But I would follow her anywhere, her cuts and color are the best I've ever had.She has been doing my hair for 3 years now and she knows what works for my face shape and skin tone. She is always full of great ideas and I trust her to just go with the flow. I have never been disappointed.This salon is funky and cool - great atmosphere!

I travel all over with my husbands work, so I have an awful time trying to keep a stylist. I read the reviews about Fells Point Salon and thought I would give it a try. Usually it will look great until I try to style it. I gave Mel full rein, she picked the color and the style. It was great! The color looked perfect with my skin tones and the style was easy for me to fix myself. My husband said it was the best my hair had looked for several years. Even when I went back to Ohio, all my friends thought it looked great. I have had so many people compliment me with this cut they keep saying Baltimore is treating me well. You know when your hair looks good, you feel good! I wish I could pack Mel up and take her with me to all his jobs.

Hey there,

Wanted to tell everyone that I had a great experience at this Salon. The people couldn't have been nicer. My stylist, Melanie, listened and did not hesitate to work with my ideas. My cut is awesome. My color is funky and fresh. For a great cut and cool color my total was just over 100 bucks. Worth it cuz it's your hair. Look forward to a great day when you go in! ;-)

I've been following Melanye for almost a year now because she gives the best haircut in town. Whether you want something simple or something stylin', Melanye can handle any request. I have EXTREMELY thick hair and have had difficulty in the past finding a barber/stylist who can tackle my dense locks. Thanks to Melanye, my search is over. If you want an affordable ($15 for guys!!) good lookin' haircut, you must check out Fells Point Salon.

I enjoyed working at Fells Point Salon. I felt like I was on Vacation instead of at work. Melanye is so much fun to work with, plus the atmosphere is so relaxed and welcoming that you can just hang out all day and feel like the day went by so fast. Just call anytime or stop by to say, "Hi!!" We cannot wait to see you! It is affordable, festive and so laid back. Where else can a man get a haircut in canton Fells Point or Butcher's Hill and feel right at home? We are always laughing and having a great time. Another thing to mention is where else can a lady not have too worry about her beautiful hair and what the cost will be at the end of her hair service? I have Melayne travel to the Piedmont of North Carolina to style my hair,would never have anyone but mel cut my hair. If you don't know what a hollywood cut is stop in an ask!!

I have lived in Baltimore for over 14 years and will not travel anywhere but Fells Point Salon for the perfect cut and color! Melanyne's personality and artistic style is evident in the salon decor. The open, relaxing atmosphere welcomes new and old clients and comfy couches supply a great place to chat with friends or watch the latest on the tube. But don't let the relaxed atmosphere sway you from the dedication and professionalism in her styling. Melanye's styling has gotten me numerous compliments from both men and women. I return to see her just to stock up on her business cards for complimenting strangers!! No lie!And even though I am not ready to rid my infamous cut, Melayne is comforting and skilled in identifying the next style I may need. I recommend everyone to visit no other salon but this!!!

Find yourself at Hopkins for an unexpected & unknown length of stay? Need a cut & colour and have no idea where to go? Call Melanye @ the Fells Point Salon. Competetive prices & personalized, skilled services in a small scale with vintage decor--true to it's East Baltimore roots. Probably not for upscale, sophisticated snobs or the blue-haired weekly shampoo & set crowd. And credit cards are not yet accepted.

I just went to Fells Point Salon and my hair looks amazing! I loved the atmosphere of the salon and Melanye really listened to everything I said and gave me a haircut that is exactly what I wanted. I haven't had my hair cut in more than 5 years because I always hate what I end up with--this is a first and I will return to Fells Point Salon over and over. I'm so glad I found it, thanks to the reviews on this site. Thanks everyone, especially Melanye!

Fells Point Salon is yet another salon in Baltimore City. Why does a city with so many offerings NEED another salon? Well, Fells Point Salon is a funky, fresh, and reasonably priced haircut that delivers every single time!!! Die jobs? Check! Basic Haircut? Check! Funky Styles? Check!
Melanye, the entrepeneur, greets people at her door. From the first meeting you know that this is a different sort of place. She's warm and friendly and knows what she's doing. The style of salon - a mix of "Bawlmer Hon culture" and California and Mexico's "Day of the Dead" celebration - is a great mix and offers an oddly frisky feel.
Opened in January of '07, Melanye has crafted quite a following. While you don't need an appointment to get a decent cut, you may have to wait for a bit if you're just a walk in. But, it's definitely worth it!

A really cool relaxing place to get a haircut. After bouncing around to many different salons, it is nice to find a place where the stylist gives you a cut that actually looks good on you. Melanye knows what she is doing and works with you to make you look the best that you can when you leave. I will definitely be back and will suggest this place to all my friends and family

I totally agree with everything Tara said about the Salon. There are very nice people there who are easy to talk to. They do great jobs on everyones hair, and they are about the same price as every other hair salon. If they do a poor job, just tell them and they will fix it. Good luck with them!

This salon is very up to date and has excellent customer service and very knowledable and experienced hairdressers..I felt very comfortable discussing ideas about what I wanted to do to my hair.
