My dog needed a operation on her eye. The vet was very low in price compared to others. The operation was a success however I ended up working at this place and only lasted a week because of the terrible conditions. Dogs are kept in a dark basement which is infested with fleas. Did obsereve a animal being nuetered while I was there and was shocked when no precautions were taken to sterilize operating table and animal was placed on dirty floor in front of box fan to recover. If you leave your pet here ask to see where they keep them . I promise you he won't let you see where they keep the animals. Very sad conditions!!

Here you will find an experienced veterinarian who is in the business because he cares about keeping animals healthy. Just call (410) 744-6660 and Dr. Oweis will answer. He will accommodate you and your pet at any time of any day; should you need him to come to your pet he will make a house call.
He will take the time to get to know both you and your pet. He will be thorough in his exam and watch for problems which your pet may be at risk. He will discuss options and concerns with you and give advice for the best treatment for your pet. He will provide a reasonable rate and will let you take time to make decisions. He will go out of his way if you express concern to make sure you feel comfortable with the treatment. He will be honest and professional. He is up to date with veterinary practices, epidemics, and breed specific illnesses. He has a sense of humor.
Successful Third Eyelid Prolapse (Cherry Eye) surgery and recovery within 24 hours from symptom onset and office visit, my pet is happy again. No more eye problems, no further treatment needed!
You can speak directly to Dr. Oweis when leaving work this afternoon and get your pets veterinary needs handled this evening!
Keep in mind he doesn't live there, call him and he will answer.

I took my dog to this god-awful place one time and it will definitely be the last time. When i first spoke to the doctor, he quoted me a price of 27.50, but if i let him give my dog the needed shots, the price would be reduced to 23.50/night for boarding. He was my last resort so i let my dog stay (the biggest mistake of my life). I couldnt understand him with his accent and when i asked him to repeat it, it seemed like he was getting upset with me. He took my dog in the back, after that i dont know where he went. The place smelled terrible, the conditions horrible. After my return a few days later, i picked my dog up and was totally disappointed. i rang the bell several times with no answer. He only answered when i called and it took him about 15 minutes to bring my dog out to me. My guess is that he was trying to hurry and give my dog the needed shots, which he gave my dog at least 7-8 shots which i didnt authorize. My black Lab was brown in color, smelled like urine and was in disarray. When i questioned the doctor, he became irate with me. I will never< evr take my dog to him again. Ever! If you love your dog, do yourself a favor and take your animal somewhere else. I know personally of at least 2 other people whose had bad experiences at this place and will not take their pets back again. If you do decide to go, please be cautious as well as careful.

Before I would let Dr. Oweiss practice medicine on my animals I would call and ask for a copy of his Public Orders from the Maryland State Veterinary Board. 410-841-5862

I worked here in 2001-2002. I would not leave you pets in his kennel. It is in the basement, very cold and dark and dirty. The cages are so small too!

We have been taking our pets to the Beltway Animal Clinic for about fourteen years--both cats and dogs. They have all received excellent care. I have never felt rushed or get the feeling I was taking too long or asking too many questions. The downside of that is that at times I have had to wait quite a while because the people ahead of me have not been pushed out.
His advice on behavior issues has been very useful, especially because we have strays and rescues that take a little more effort. Prices are less than other vets, and we get the "stray discount." My daughter worked there.
I admit the building is unimpressive. However, while other clinics are no doubt more impressive, they are also very impersonal. Time is money.

My wife and I have been taking our four cats, two of whom were strays, to Beltway Animal Clinic & Hospital for about six years. Dr. Oweis, the veterinarian who owns Beltway Animal Clinic & Hospital, has been everything we could have asked for in a Vet. We fortuitously found him after being charged exorbitant rates for pet care at another clinic; after taking our pets to him for the first time (from all the way across town in east Baltimore), we recognized the concern and care he gave to them and weve stayed with him ever since. The care and nurturing he has given to our own pets is only part of the story. My wife and I love cats and we fed and cared for strays that arrived at our doorstep from the alley behind our house when we lived in Patterson Park, and we continue to do so at our new home. We have captured close to 20 of those strays and brought them to Dr. Oweis for shots and neutering or spaying. For all of them he offered us drastic discounts on his services because he appreciates what we are doing. For many of them he found homes. One of the cats had been in a terrible fight and we brought him to Dr. Oweis. The cat had to have his jaw wired along with needing a battery of shots and neutering. Dr. Oweis offered us a ridiculously low price for the care then nurtured the cat back to health. In addition, he found a home for him! We care for what we think of as a special-needs cat. She was traumatized as a kitten and as a result distrusts humans. She requires inordinate patience and understanding. Even today, though weve had her for five years, she wont allow us to pick her up. We can only pet her. Dr. Oweis recognizes why she is distrustful and has treated her as if she were his own cat. We one time called him after 10:00 p.m. on a cold, winter, Friday night after capturing five kittens and her mother and he told us to bring them all in. He found a home for all of the kittens and spayed the mother whom we eventually cared for as an outside cat. My wife and I have boarded our cats during our move and when weve been out of town. We trust Dr. Oweis so much that when we made out our Will before traveling we specifically requested the lawyer include his name in the Will to look after our cats in case my wife and I met tragedy. My wife and I would trust Dr. Oweis with the keys to our house. His main concern is for the health and safety of all pets under his care at Beltway Animal Clinic & Hospital. Please call on him if you love your animals and only want the best for them.

Beltway Animal Clinic & Hospital is a fine place to take your pets. The care and attention we received when our cat was very ill was wonderful. In September, we required emergency care in the early hours and the doctor woke up to take our case. I had been to several other animal hospitals in the area before, and although this one was not the shiniest or newest, the care was exceptional. We had to leave our cat, but Beltway returned my calls daily (often more than once). When we could not be reached, they would leave a message and still try all my others numbers. The doctor took time explaining the illness and options with patience. And when I was worried about the cost (since previous hospitals had cost hundreds/thousands), the owner understood and worked with us to have substantially lower rates. In the end, the total cost was less than other hospitals had charged to merely diagnose and not even treat the problem. We have other cats which we will certainly take there again. Don't let the outside fool you -- the care is wonderful:)

It was Thanksgiving weekend and no other place had room so I left my cat here. The facilities, or lack of, looked very skeptical. It's an old house that looks like an animal testing lab. When you walk in, you are greeted by a man through a small window in the door. You cannot see anything that's going on inside. When you drop your cat off, they close them up in a backpack (okay), but you never see any other animals or where they are putting yours. They did not answer our questions satisfactorily. We left a container of food with him, but when we picked him up... it didn't look like much food was gone and he looked skinnier. When we grabbed a hold of him, he smelt like urine. Employees were not friendly. I would not recommend leaving your pet here, he's better off in the wild. I regret leaving my cat here.

Made arrangements to board dogs and when asked if I could see the facility before making the final commitment, I was told, "This is a hospital not a zoo! We do not do tours!" I stated that I had never been there before and merely wished to see the business, before committing and the gentleman answering the phone became very indignant and hung up the phone.
This exchange did nothing to provide me with the level of trust to leave my pets here.
