My husband and I have had each goose that our boys first shot stuffed and mounted and they all have turned out beautifully. Yes, it does take 4 - 5 months, but it has always been worth the wait and exactly as we wanted. I have have also purchased several reptiles with complete satisfaction and still have a New Jersey Wooley that I purchased 4 years ago named Bun Bun.

Ratings_icons well done

The service at toms is class. It is only a small family oriented place but they are willing to help with any question whether over the phone or in person. The staff knows alot about their stuff and are very willing to offer advice. This is my store of choice when dealing with my salt water tank. Con: lack of parking out front, sometimes you have to wait for someone to leave...

Ratings_icons Honest and Helpful

We have been going to Tom's for years. We've owned everything from fish,to lizards, to rodents,to frogs, to birds and we have never had a problem with them. We also buy crickets from them for our bearded dragon. We highly recommend Tom's to everybody because they have such a wide variety of things, and if they can't help you they'll tell you who can. As for the "dusty dead traumatising animals all over the walls" they're a taxidermy shop what do you expect? Not to mention that area is off limits to customers anyway. We have had several deer and ducks stuffed at Tom's and they were done beautifully. And to top everything off they also will babysit small pets while you're on vacation.

Ratings_icons Nice little store for buying exotic fish and pets

Dan M.

I have been going to Tom's tropicals for about 13 years, and they do have a nice selection of fish, small animals and reptiles plus they double as a taxidermist. I have bought fish from them in the past, along with anemones and crickets for my tarantula. They usually have what you are looking for, plus a few things you may not normally see in average pet stores, such as unique rocks and natural driftwood for your aquarium or reptile. Just stop over.

Ratings_icons Best "Piggy" friend

Katie E.

My boyfriend bought me a Paruvian Guinea Pig from Toms Tropics. This Pig was so much fun. I had him for three years and sadly he passed away suddenly. I would recommend getting a pet from Tom's at anytime. I had a great experience with the staff and my little furry friend brought me so much joy.

It was recommended by another store who was out of what I was looking for to go to Tom's Tropicals on Bel Air road for pinkies (baby mice). The store was quite smelly and very dark, I didn't realize they had so many dead stuffed animals otherwise I wouldn't have made the journey. When I kindly asked the lady behind the counter about the taxidermy she looked at me like I was crazy. In any case, they did have what I came for but I honestly don't think I will visit again..for what its worth.

Ratings_icons I love it there

Amanda S.

I have been going there for as long as I can remember, at least 10 years I'm sure. I buy crickets regularly and the staff are always very nice. The animals look fine in the cages, it's a pet shop though, not a beauty parlor. It's just a bunch of fish tanks in half the store, so what do you expect? They are great with customer service because I have been buying fish from them for a while too and if a fish died for whatever reason within a week or so, just bring it back in a zip lock and they give you a new one. They always know what fish are compatible with each other. The prices can't be beat either. It's also very hard to find live pinkies which they seem to always have, as well as the older mice variety.

Ratings_icons Great Family Business

Anonymous

My family and I have been going to Tom's for years and love it. This is a small family run business and they give personal care to all their customers. Every time I'm in the store, which is often, their employees are busy cleaning tanks and refreshing the small pets bedding and all of their animals are very healthy. This is the only pet store I've been in where their very knowledgeable about their pets and products and share that information freely. That person complaining about her rabbit. The animal is DEAD it will never look like your beloved LIVE rabbit. The person complaining about the dust, is an idiot. The animals in the show room weren't left behind, they were hides bought for display only. Tom is an artist and it took a great deal of time and talent to put them all together. This is the cleanest pet store around, you obviously didn't go to other parts of the store.I highly recommend this store to anyone who loves pets.

Tom's Tropicals is a unique pet store specializing in reptiles and fish. My husband gets his crickets and mice there for his snake and spiders, but I love it because they take care of our rabbit when we're on vacation. They take great care of him, and he always comes home clean, happy, and well-fed. And they do it for a great price.

Ratings_icons Reasonably priced, good selection!

Ashley H. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 3,838

This is a great little fish store, they have an excellent selection! They are very reasonably priced and most of the staff are very eager and willing to help. The fishtanks are a little green, but they're not dirty, they just have a lot of algea sometimes. They also have great deals on animal housing, including bunny hutches and other small animal cages. There is also a taxidermy shop on location, and they have a wide variety of stuffed animals on display--if you're at all squeamish, watch out!

PROS: Great selection and great prices!
CONS: Creepy animals on the walls.

Sandra W. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 889

Toms Tropicals is a unique pet shop. They specialize in fish and iguanas. They have a great selection of salt water and fresh water fish. I bought my boyfriend a salt-water fish tank and all of the accessories here. The prices are reasonable. The employees were very knowledgeable and a great resource.

Ratings_icons Wonderful selection, reasonable prices

Debra A. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 1,310

Toms Tropicals specializes in lizards and fish, and their selection is huge. It's rare to find a pet store in a standalone store any more, but this is a great example. Besides the animals themselves, Toms offers a huge array of supplies, including garden ponds, aquariums, and cage decor. The staff are a little unenthusiastic, but not enough to ruin the experience. My kids love going there and just looking at all the animals! Ample parking and they're rarely busy.
