I go to tom's every week to get mice for my snake. They have friendly employees that actually want to help you, not just pressure you to buy something you don't need. They are always in stock and their exotic array of animals offer

My and my Dad have been going to Tom's for about 2 years now, and every visit we get the most out of every visit! The taxidermy is so cool, even though some people might find it disturbing, it seems cool to be able to be face-to-face with a buffallo without getting attacked. I am impressed with how the maitnence is kept. Some people critisize this store for having dead fish, but they also have about 300 other critters to care for! I always go here for my fish tank supplies and sometimes just to look at all the cool animals. Stop by Tom's even when you're not looking to buy anything, I'm sure you'll be impressed!

I have been going to toms tropicals for a while.. they are a very good pet store. I have bought fish, hamsters, frogs, and a snake from them. It is very clean in the store and every animal is cared for. I would highly recommend shopping at toms fro live animals and all animal supplies.

I went to Tom's Tropicals once and bought a hamster. The reason for buying this hamster, in a cage of sickly hamsters, was because if I didn't buy this hamster, this hamster would be fed to a snake. They fed the snake one of the little mice that was for sale, right in front of my face- I was horrified. Of course, this way, the snake mice have hope of getting bought before they're doomed, which I like very, very much. I'll give it 3 stars for that. But feeding HAMSTERS to snakes! One of the hamsters was pregnant (and had a disease) but when I held her, she jumped out of my hands and started running for the mouse trap. It reminded me of Maus, about the Jew mice and Nazi cats, when the Jewish mouse killed her children and herself so that they wouldn't have to be put in concentration camps and die a more horrible death... Also, my brother bought a bunny there who died the very next day.

I've sporadically been going to Tom's for the last two years. When I first started up my freshwater tank and I had a ton of fish dying, I assumed that it was New Tank Syndrome and that my tank just needed some time. When I started getting my first fish from PetSmart however, I noticed that my fish were living longer.

I went to Tom's last week and bought a beautiful, healthy-looking oranda goldfish that I fell in love with. 48 hours later, she was belly up. :( I was going to give them the benefit of the doubt, and went back to buy another. While their selection of goldfish was lovely as always, almost half of the tanks in the store had dead fish in them. I told one of the workers there and she said, Huh. We just collected the dead fish an hour ago... I was disgusted and it made me want to cry. I even asked if they had just gotten in their fish shipments today because I know the transit can kill off otherwise healthy fish, but she said no, it'd been a few days.

Also, unrelatedly, we bought a rabbit from a breeder two years ago who warned us against buying rabbits from Tom's. She knew of other breeders who sold their inbred buns to them and had heard horror stories about pet rabbits dying under a year old.

I've given them so many chances to make things right... but I don't think I'll ever shop there again.

I love it i get all my fish from there and my fish trigger is a barb and he has lived for about 7 years and just got sick but he is old i love toms tropicals i also got my frogs and my snail from there, the taxidermy place is so cool.Kinda weird for me though. It is small and cute But the only problem is it is not big enough i think the should be bigger cause every one loves them. and so do i. It is so much fun to go in a look at all the fish and pet the bunnies and i stay away from the spider and rats and mice no thank u not a big fan. But their hermit crabs are so nice and they live very long i love it their so much and everyone is so nice when you go in it is always how are you today or i will be right with you . i have been going there for about 10 years.I love the little floppy ear bunnies and the red ear sliders just as much.TOM'S TROPICALS
IS THE BEST PET STORE I HAVE EVER SEEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My husband and I have had each goose that our boys first shot stuffed and mounted and they all have turned out beautifully. Yes, it does take 4 - 5 months, but it has always been worth the wait and exactly as we wanted. I have have also purchased several reptiles with complete satisfaction and still have a New Jersey Wooley that I purchased 4 years ago named Bun Bun.

The service at toms is class. It is only a small family oriented place but they are willing to help with any question whether over the phone or in person. The staff knows alot about their stuff and are very willing to offer advice. This is my store of choice when dealing with my salt water tank. Con: lack of parking out front, sometimes you have to wait for someone to leave...

We have been going to Tom's for years. We've owned everything from fish,to lizards, to rodents,to frogs, to birds and we have never had a problem with them. We also buy crickets from them for our bearded dragon. We highly recommend Tom's to everybody because they have such a wide variety of things, and if they can't help you they'll tell you who can. As for the "dusty dead traumatising animals all over the walls" they're a taxidermy shop what do you expect? Not to mention that area is off limits to customers anyway. We have had several deer and ducks stuffed at Tom's and they were done beautifully. And to top everything off they also will babysit small pets while you're on vacation.

I have been going to Tom's tropicals for about 13 years, and they do have a nice selection of fish, small animals and reptiles plus they double as a taxidermist. I have bought fish from them in the past, along with anemones and crickets for my tarantula. They usually have what you are looking for, plus a few things you may not normally see in average pet stores, such as unique rocks and natural driftwood for your aquarium or reptile. Just stop over.

My boyfriend bought me a Paruvian Guinea Pig from Toms Tropics. This Pig was so much fun. I had him for three years and sadly he passed away suddenly. I would recommend getting a pet from Tom's at anytime. I had a great experience with the staff and my little furry friend brought me so much joy.

It was recommended by another store who was out of what I was looking for to go to Tom's Tropicals on Bel Air road for pinkies (baby mice). The store was quite smelly and very dark, I didn't realize they had so many dead stuffed animals otherwise I wouldn't have made the journey. When I kindly asked the lady behind the counter about the taxidermy she looked at me like I was crazy. In any case, they did have what I came for but I honestly don't think I will visit again..for what its worth.

I have been going there for as long as I can remember, at least 10 years I'm sure. I buy crickets regularly and the staff are always very nice. The animals look fine in the cages, it's a pet shop though, not a beauty parlor. It's just a bunch of fish tanks in half the store, so what do you expect? They are great with customer service because I have been buying fish from them for a while too and if a fish died for whatever reason within a week or so, just bring it back in a zip lock and they give you a new one. They always know what fish are compatible with each other. The prices can't be beat either. It's also very hard to find live pinkies which they seem to always have, as well as the older mice variety.

My family and I have been going to Tom's for years and love it. This is a small family run business and they give personal care to all their customers. Every time I'm in the store, which is often, their employees are busy cleaning tanks and refreshing the small pets bedding and all of their animals are very healthy. This is the only pet store I've been in where their very knowledgeable about their pets and products and share that information freely. That person complaining about her rabbit. The animal is DEAD it will never look like your beloved LIVE rabbit. The person complaining about the dust, is an idiot. The animals in the show room weren't left behind, they were hides bought for display only. Tom is an artist and it took a great deal of time and talent to put them all together. This is the cleanest pet store around, you obviously didn't go to other parts of the store.I highly recommend this store to anyone who loves pets.

Tom's Tropicals is a unique pet store specializing in reptiles and fish. My husband gets his crickets and mice there for his snake and spiders, but I love it because they take care of our rabbit when we're on vacation. They take great care of him, and he always comes home clean, happy, and well-fed. And they do it for a great price.

This is a great little fish store, they have an excellent selection! They are very reasonably priced and most of the staff are very eager and willing to help. The fishtanks are a little green, but they're not dirty, they just have a lot of algea sometimes. They also have great deals on animal housing, including bunny hutches and other small animal cages. There is also a taxidermy shop on location, and they have a wide variety of stuffed animals on display--if you're at all squeamish, watch out!

PROS: Great selection and great prices!
CONS: Creepy animals on the walls.

Toms Tropicals is a unique pet shop. They specialize in fish and iguanas. They have a great selection of salt water and fresh water fish. I bought my boyfriend a salt-water fish tank and all of the accessories here. The prices are reasonable. The employees were very knowledgeable and a great resource.

Toms Tropicals specializes in lizards and fish, and their selection is huge. It's rare to find a pet store in a standalone store any more, but this is a great example. Besides the animals themselves, Toms offers a huge array of supplies, including garden ponds, aquariums, and cage decor. The staff are a little unenthusiastic, but not enough to ruin the experience. My kids love going there and just looking at all the animals! Ample parking and they're rarely busy.
