Cornerstone certainly offers a fine looking array of homes with attractive floorplans, elevations, and some intriguing options. The salesteam is also courteous through the sales process and during construction; my home had several modifications not even charaterized as options most of which were accomodated.

Construction of my home was not without incident though as the framing team drank their way through the first floor. Alcohol had skewed the Earth's gravitational pull and caused the plumblines for the framing to go wildly awry. This was corrected with the removal of the alcohol though I am unsure if that framing team still subs for Cornerstone; I wouldn't be shocked if they were.

Warranty service was required on our home and was provided eventually. The drywall subs were only marginally better than the framing team and had to work with the "crafsmanship" they were left to cover. In all, the finish of the house is only just so good. Seams, nailpops, lousy mudwork... these are the hallmarks of sub-par drywall installation and the cost of having purchased the house at what we'd considered to be a better than average price.

That price didn't include any choices for better windows or insulation. We got the bare minimum and the energy efficiency of the house tells the tale. R-13 just doesn't cut it in today's Maryland climate.

Cornerstone does specify some things to their subs that do show an above average level of attention to detail. The registers for the HVAC system in the bathrooms are intelligently placed to help wet towels dry after showers or handwashing. The exposed wiring in the unfinished basement is thoughtfully organized to allow for an easy remodel.

Cornerstone offers a fine house though they're not willing to sacrifice quality for profit and it shows in their subcontractors and after sales teethpulling service.

PROS: nice floorplans, nice elevations, detailed, good, small neighborhood sites
CONS: poor after sale service, inconsiderate of new homeowners
