I am a huge animal lover ,care taker, and trainer . I wanted a small breed puppy/dog for my family and fell in love with the Havanese breed. I got a mix hava from a breeder in feb 2012 and then decided she needed a friend . I was told about a dog that was 8 months old from just puppies in towson ,md . I was able to get the puppy from a woman who had bough her back in march . She is the most loving dog to me ever ! I would not trade her for anything ! So when I received my new pup from this person they gave me all of her papers as well . I called the pet store to get more information on her and they told me I would have to ask her old owner about her . (I don't understand how the old owner is going to be able to help me understand where she came from) .. they did call me back after I left a message with the clerk though and were very nice on the phone . I plan on doing a visit with the store very soon and believe that everyone should visit and then talk to the store manager before getting a puppy from here. So....After reading her papers fro the 5th time I saw that there was a breeders name on it . Edward Cannon. From MO. Come to find out he had over 284 dogs in one building ! I found it on USDA.Gov. I now know that my poor poor baby was born in a puppy mill there is full reports you can get on this pet shop and the (so called Breeders) they use ! please go to petshotpuppies.com you can get a report on any puppy from any pet shop . She has her first vet visit by me next week . I trust my vet as now my mom and step father even use them . So we shell see if she has any problems . Please do your research before you very buy a dog anywhere from anyone . I even did so with my hava mix after our first visit I went home and looked up online anything I could and even called my spca about their place to make sure . Also to put some light on the whole kennel cough ... Every puppy in a pet store will have it or even in a kennel . If you do not buy from a breeder expect a vet bill a little lager . I don't believe that these people make you use their vets only! Though that was the first sigh right there puppy mill puppies !

I have been training canine companions and their pet parents several years. As a dog trainer, my friends and co-workers always ask me for advice with their pooches. A few years ago, I accompanied a co-worker to Just Puppies to look at a Yorkie-Poo she wanted to purchase. I did not have any previous knowledge of the store before I went with her. So we walked in and I immediately noticed the line in front of the cages. I was informed that this was so we wouldn't make the puppies sick. I tried not to raise my eyebrows at this. The staff was totally friendly and nice, UNTIL my co-worker told them that I was a professional trainer. Suddenly their whole demeanor went guarded and confrontational.

Anyway, the Yorkie-poo that co-worker wanted was "sick in the back," so she picked out two others to look at. Well, things got even weirder. Co-worker and I had to sanitize our hands (not too bothered by that), and take off our shoes (okay...not even my AKC top breeders demand that with their puppies) and sit in this little clean white cubicle to wait for the shop clerk to bring in the puppy. So they bring it in and sit it down.

So it basically just sits there, no energy, no nothing. We try toys, high pitched voices and petting..nothing. Finally (whith shop clerk looking on) I take a look at it. I start by smelling its ears, looking at teeth growth, checking out the sanitary area and playing with the paws to looks at pads/nails. Suddenly shop clerk snaps at me and asks what I am doing. I simply reply that I'm checking over the puppy. Shop clerk gets super angry and states that we are "stressing out the poor thing," and whisks it away. By the way, the puppy's ears smelled awful, only a little black crust though. There was evidence of recent diarrhea around the anus, and the eyes were several crusted. The nails were also quite long for a puppy of the claimed age.

So..it gets worse. We move on to the next cubicle over to see the next puppy, who was snoozing on a pile of about 4 others in one corner of the kennel. All this time, co-worker and I are attempting nice, friendly conversation and have kept good attitudes. So shop clerk brings the puppy over, and I heard the kennel cough wheeze a mile away. Before she put the puppy down I said, "Shop clerk, I don't think we should see that puppy, it has kennel cough." Shop clerk shoots us a dirty look, and says "Of course he doesn't have kennel cough! Our puppies are all healthy!" Right as she says this, co-worker points to the giant snot-bubble coming from the puppy's nose. Then shop clerk says, "YOU MADE HIM SICK!" and rushes him the the back. She comes back, rather irritated, and we go to take our leave. Before we go, I couldn't help but say, "Aren't you going to quarantine its kennel mates? They might have it too." to which shop girl replies, "Oh no they don't, YOU are the ones who made that puppy sick!" Keep in mind this puppy was always at least 3ft away from me and co-worker.

I am convinced this place is sketchy, and that any "healthy, perfect dogs" from here are flukes. Since my visit, this place has been confirmed as a puppy mill and anyone who buys from here should look up the pictures of the puppy's mothers whom they left behind in the mill. That is what your hard earned money is paying for. I wish I could rate negative stars.

I think some of the people that rate Just puppies as a bad place are either over zealous Humane society employees or people that expect to be baby sat by staff whenever they come into the store. I just want to look around and if I need you I'll let you know. I bought a cocka-poo from them almost two years ago and he is healthy and happy. He has a lot of personality quirks, and doesnt really like men (loves women, huge flirt). He is smart and sweet and an all around good hearted and good natured dog. Hes my only so I've spoiled him terribly. My parents love him too. Infact my parents are the proud owner of a Just puppies puppy and she's going on 11 years old. She is a great dog, and even gets along with my dog, despite the major age difference and never being around puppies. She also is healthy. So, I love my dog *teardrop* I don't know what I would do without him. :)

My husband bought me and my kids a chihuahua from the Towson store on Valentines day. I love this dog so much he hasn't had any problems and he is very loving. He did not come from a puppy mill he came from a breeder in Iowa. not all of the puppies come from puppy mills. The staff there was very helpful and I even saw some of the employees taking the puppies out of the cages and playing with them and there was no more then 2 puppies to a cage. My parents bought a shiba from just puppies in Laurel when it was in Laurel 7 years ago and they have had no problems with her

The gentleman that wrote the review about the dachshund he purchased on 4/23/2010 called the store and told us that if we did not let him return the dog, he threatened to harm the puppy.

We told him immediately to please return the puppy and we would adopt him to a LOVING family. This gentleman NEVER BOTHERED to bring the puppy back to us.

Please do not take the word of a person who has no compassion towards the life of an animal. How dare you, sir, try to slander this store because you are too poor of an owner to take responsibility and be a real man.

I bought my pug puppy about 3 months ago. Yes, they offer a health guarantee, but that is only because they know they sell genetically defective dogs. The guarantee is only in effect if you go to one of their vets, one of which is the most money-hungry "animal lover" I've ever met. Inflated prices to balance out the refund they'll need to give you when you find out your dog has a congenital disorder. Maybe the vet owns the pet store? That would make sense to me.

I had faith in this place when I walked through the door. It was clean, in fact, i commented on how clean it smelled. To my disappoinment, it was completly opposite. From the day that I purchased my Yorkie I had issues. She never ate, had seizures, hypoglycemic, the list goes on. After having her for 2 weeks I had to return her becasue she would not eat. I had to feed her realy baby food through a dropper. It was horrible. I returned her on a Friday. Friday they said they would take care of her. Saturday, i spoke to them a few times about a refund and to see how she was doing. They diagnosed her with penmonia, said she was being treated and would be ok to come home in 2 weeks. I told them I did not want her back as I could not care for a dog that needed 24 hour care. She had issues beyond anything I could do to help her. My Yorkie died in their care on Satursday and NO ONE from the store called me to let me know. The has been one of the worst experiences of my life. The Towson store has been very un-professoinal and un-helpful. THe general mng @ Rocville location has been the only person who has been nice, kind & very helpful. I am waiting on my refund, coming from CANADA.

Just Puppies Inc is very unprofessional. Three years ago I went there to look for a puppy and the place reeked of feces. I have worked in the pet industry and know that there is no excuse for those condiditon. Well yesterday, I thought I'd give them another chance. BIG MISTAKE! Not only were the conditions the same, the "staff" there was rude and argumentative. After snapping at my husband when he almost touched a cage, a young man in the store proceeded to grab at his crotch and tell me how he was "all about customer service." When I asked to speak with anyone else who worked there, he gestured to a young girl who was with a customer and said she was his manager. She was only four feet away from me as her "employee" argued with me but she made no attempt to intercede, or even acknowledge my existence. She even brushed past me to get something without even looking at me. Later, when I called to get the owner's name and contact info, I was told that they were "in Canada" and was refused the information. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS STORE!

The only reason I would purchase a puppy from this store would be to save them from the horrendous conditions they are kept in. The employees are rude and do not care at all about the conditions the puppies are in, they stand by idly while the smaller pups get gnawed on and yelp out in pain.

Hi, I am the proud new dad of the little red doxie. He is doing fine and will be on steroids for a week or two more.
He is house broken and loves my horses, very cute indeed. It was my understanding you got your money back.
Anyway I will be posting photos of my boy later this week.

Went to the Towson store in May 2009 and saw an adorable little red Dachshund. We put a 100 dollar deposit on him and said we would be back to get him on Tuesday. When we came to the store to pick him up we were told that he was sick and in quarantine. When we asked the store "manager" Chelsea when he would be ready for us she informed us that she didn't know. We asked her to call us with any news and never received a call so we returned to the store a few days later and were told that she still knew nothing. I left the store feeling that we were not being treated honestly and expect that the dog probably died in their care. To make things worse she refuses to refund our 100 dollar deposit!! Thet deserve a minus 5 stars!!

Please don't buy a puppy from here. I know first hand that these puppy's have major issues I used to work for a vet that treated these dogs. About 10 a week would end up dead. the rest would end up sick sooner or later. Most are not pure breed but claim to be. They did a story about this on the news. also most were deformed. plus they want you to pay for hundreds for a dog you could get alot cheaper from a real breeder.

I purchased a Toy Fox Terrier whom I called Felix from Just Puppies in Tow son with great joy. Unexpectedly Felix developed a rare bone condition that progressed and he had to be put down at the age of two. I contacted Just Puppies to explain my situation with great details and was later told to come get another puppy from the store. All of the employees were very sensitive to my needs and I never met any company so eager to please me. I highly recommend this store to anyone and rate not only the store but the owner as top of class.

The only reason I gave them 1 star is because I wasn't allowed to use 0. I had to euthanize my 2 year old boxer because he was born with kidney problems. I wish I had researched the Just Puppies company before I bought him. So many people have bought sick dogs from them and they are not even willing to take responsibility and give me the money that I paid for him because "it is over their 1 year policy." He was the best dog ever and I was only able to enjoy him for a year and a half. I had to put him to sleep a few days after he turned two all because they do not care about the dogs they buy or the customers who love their pets. I don't want anyone to have to go through the pain I went through. PLEASE DO NOT BUY FROM THEM
