I have personally been a patient of Doc Sam's (as we come to know and love him as) for approximately 16 years now and have been amazed by the level of care provided to myself, and now my two girls, every time we visit. Doc Sam has always been the epitome of what I look for in a health care provider (and I can honestly say, it's hard to please a nurse/mom). There have been several times where Doc Sam has went above and beyond for me and my girls, i.e. taking his own personal time to call me at home following an ER visit. I certainly cannot express in words how amazing Doc Sam is as a physician or how wonderful he is as a person. There are very few others that I would trust with the health care of my family.

Dr. Williams has been my pediatrician for years. I am so happy that he has expanded his practice to young adults. That means I get to stay a little longer. I can talk to him about anything and he helped me during some trying times in college. He is still sharp and I hope to bring my kids (when I have some) to his practice.

We just joined his practice. Great Doctor. My two boys liked him right away. I am a nurse and he was recommended by the other nurses at my hospital. I also like his partner, Dr. Petit.

I have 4 children ranging in age from 3 to 14 years. I been with Dr. Williams for years. I moved to PA but we still come. He was willing to work with me in using a modified immunization schedule for the kids. We love himand his daughter, Dr. Petit. If your want excellent doctors for your children-then take them to Dr. Williams and Dr. Petit. Also, I cry when I think of this, but when we were struggling financially several year ago, and didn't have insurance, Dr.Williams reduced our bills and gave me lot's of samples. He truly cared about us.

Dr. Williams and Dr. Petit are great pediatricians. We have nothing but great things to say about them. My 2 children are healthy, but my best friend brings her child to their practice also. That child has multiple problems and my friend is quite pleased with the service they have received. I highly recommend this practice.

To A.G.,
It sounds like you are very angry with Dr. Williams. It also sounds like your child has numerous health problems from your own description. My children have been with Dr. Williams for over 25 plus years. It??s sad that you feel he never explained things to you. When my premature baby was born at 28 weeks, I was terrified. My baby had underdeveloped lungs, an infection, and not enough oxygen to the brain. At the time, Dr Williams was a resident at St. Agnes Hospital. My husband and I were very impressed with the way he honestly answered all of our questions. He could see we were in denial and did not want to accept that our child could eventually be totally handicapped. He was never harsh in the way he talked with us. At the same time, we had to face the truth. It was very hard. Dr Williams?? professionalism, knowledge, and bed side manner made us realize that he was the type of doctor we needed. For the last twenty eight years, we have had to face a lot of difficulties with our totally handicapped child. Our child was never able to walk, or talk, but Dr. Williams never gave up on us. Each day is still a struggle, but we always knew we could count on Dr. Williams to help us through. He never lied to us or gave us false hope. Sometimes patients and doctors are a perfect match and sometimes they are not. I am glad you were able to find another doctor that would be a perfect match for you. Dr Williams was a perfect match for our family. Good luck to you.

I agree that Dr. Williams is great with kids who are not often sick and who are developing normally. However, I would avoid this office if your child has any sort of developmental delay. When we were at the practice, Drs. Williams and Petit essentially ignored the reports and test results sent by specialists (like developmental pediatricians and other therapists), and basically made up their own minds -- based on the 5 minutes every few months that they actually saw my child -- about what problems he did and did not have. The most heartbreaking part was when they wrote on a form -- without breaking the news to my husband and I beforehand -- that my child had mental retardation (!!!) when he didn't even have a cognitive delay! They also said he had a speech delay, which was confusing because he had just tested at his age level for speech. At first, I was heartbroken and assumed I must have misinterpreted a test result that indicated retardation or a cognitive delay, but when my child's developmental pediatrician at UMAB heard about this, the developmental pediatrician was absolutely furious. Beyond the fact that Drs. Williams and Petit appeared not to have read any of the developmental or speech reports, our developmental ped was even more angry that Drs. Williams and Petit confused "developmental delay" with something as dramatic as "mental retardation" and never bothered to explain it to me - they just let me read the form when I got home. It was a heinous experience and we immediately switched pediatricians. My child has physical limitations, but that does not mean that his pediatrician - who should be his advocate, in a sense - should label him with an array of other conditions in the absence of supporting evidence. For that reason, I no longer recommend Dr. Williams' practice.

IN RESPONSE TO THE PREVIOUS REVIEWER: Susan,
maybe Dr. Williams was great 25 years ago--and maybe he still is for the majority of his patients today--but regardless of whether or not I am angry, the fact is that Dr. Williams disregarded many reports sent by highly trained physicians who specialize in child development and who spent hours, rather than a mere 5 minutes every few months, with my child. I agree that many parents of children with developmental issues go through denial and yes, when my son was first born, I was one of them. But that was years ago. Today, I actually take the time to listen to specialists when they say that my son *does* or *does not* have certain limitations. And, according to these highly trained physicians, my son does not have mental retardation. That's not my *opinion* -- that's the conclusion of a physician with far more specialized expertise than Dr. Williams. And the fact that Dr. Williams (1) disregarded the specialist's diagnoses and (2) did not even discuss the possibility of mental retardation with me before writing it on an official form is both inconsiderate and irresponsible. With all due respect to Dr. Williams, I feel that other parents of children with developmental delays who are looking for a pediatrician *today*, rather than 25 years ago, should know that this could happen to their child, too.

Business Response:

As a physician, it would be unprofessional to comment on this specific patient's medical condition or diagnosis. All of my career, I have dedicated myself to provide quality, compassionate, care to all patients regardless of race, economic status, or medical condition. Special needs children, with their multiple problems, require a lot of medical attention which our office always provides.(Certainly more than just 5 minute office visits). Our reputation for providing quality care for children with special needs is well known in the medical community. One of the things that I have discovered, early on in my medial career, is "you can't please all of the people, all of the time". This parent was unhappy with the office and transferred. Things like this rarely occur with this office. I sincerely pray that the Lord blesses this family and I harbor no ill will. Samuel R. Williams,.M.D.

He is the pediatrician for all 5 of my children. I recently gave birth to a set of twins, and he is now their doctor. His daughter has joined the practice and we love her as well! THey are great day to earth, old-school, Christian Doctors.

Dr. Williams has been our pediatrician through 4 children for seventeen years. He is incredible - patient, funny, kind, knowledgeable and down to earth. We love him so much! My kids were always excited about a trip to see Dr. Sam. I have never waited more than 10 minutes to see him and usually I don't even have a chance to sit down before it's our turn. With a thriving business, that is incredibly rare. Now his daughter, Dr. Petit, has joined him and she is wonderful too. They have expanded hours and you can always get an appointment for the day you call. I highly recommend this practice.

Dr. Williams is a wonderful doctor. He was recommended to me by a nurse in the NICU @ Sinai Hospital. She takes her kids to him. I have been taking my twins to him for four years and love him.

Both my husband & I saw Dr Williams as children and are thrilled that our children are able to visit his practice as well. He is, and always has been, very professional, thorough, friendly, and efficient. I am a nurse myself, and there's no one I'd rather my children see.

Both of my children have had Dr. Sam since birth. He is very knowledgeable in his field and he has made great strides to make sure your doctor's visit is a pleasant experience. The staff is pleasant and personal and knows the children by name. There is no other children's doctor that I would recommend.

My son and daughter have been with Dr. Williams since they were infants. Now they are 19 and 21 and don;t want to leave. We moved from Catonsville to Carroll County 5 years ago, but we couldn't leave this Doctor's practice. I always tell Dr. Williams that I wish I could be his patient also. He thinks I'm joking but it's true. What I love about Dr. Williams is that he truly takes the time to know who you are. He always takes the time to answer my questions. The personalized care he provides is excellent. I have to admit that I hate those large impersonal group practices. I give Dr. Williams 6 stars and I love his staff too.
