Great italian

by Jamie S. | insider Insider | Rank: 13,041

I have been going to Mamma Lucia's now for a little over 10 years and I must say that their food has yet to let me down. I think I have tried just about everything on the menu and it is all at a reasonable price. If you havent been you should go!

Good Food

by L S. | top100 Top100 | Rank: 1

This place has good food. I love the bread and garlic that they bring to the table. Their salads are disappointing but the pasta makes up for it. Never had room for desert.

Italian and American dining "al fresco"

by Lisa D. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 4,495

I got hooked on Mamma Lucia's while in training at a local printing company. The whole class used to invade the place; it was close by, there was something for just about everybody, and we could dine outside (which was particularly good for the smokers in the group). The self-service pickup also eliminated the added expense of leaving a tip -- a savings important to folks who were just getting started in their jobs!

My personal favorites were the cheesesteak sub, cold cut sub, fries, house salad, and a chicken salad with walnuts and grapes that I no longer see on the menu. They used to post specials on a dry-erase board every day... if you see such a salad posted on that board, get it, you won't be sorry!

Since we were going there, they have also started an all-you-can-eat lunch buffet... but it's crowded enough in there just ordering your food and picking it up... I can't imagine fighting my way through the crowd for multiple trips to the buffet!

Fancier dishes are available -- even some veal -- but we had neither the time nor the funds for such things. I have heard from others that the more formal dishes are as good as the "quicker" food that I'm familiar with.

Beer and wine are available, and you can take them outside (but not off the premises).

Mamma Lucia's is open for lunch and dinner Monday thru Friday, and dinner only on Saturday and Sunday.

really bad takeout experience

by kejaja

Ordered the Kid's Homemade Fresh Chicken Strips from them for delivery and they were terrible. I don't think they could have made them taste worse if they burnt them. The chicken was way overcooked, rubbery, the breading was tasteless, except for the scorched edges which had a flavor, but not a good one, and the mustard sauce was odd-tasting and watery. The fries they were served on were flaccid and tasteless. Hopefully all their takeout isn't this bad.

Great Italian Food!!!

by jammin27

A great find...in the Hanover area, not far from Arundel Mills Mall. You may have to order from a line, but the food is great and the prices reasonable. Try it, you will like it.
