My family & I decided to go to La Tolteca in Churchville for my parents birthday because the one in Bel Air was packed and as soon as we walked in the hosts were very rude no smiles at all! As we sat down it took 20 min for our server to come to our table. She was very rude and missed up our table order, The Bel Air location is so much better! The food was so different and the people who worked at the Churcville location was not pleasant at all.

Excellent food, fast service and fair pricing. When the food was delivered it was steaming hot so you never have to worry about getting your food cold here. Waitress was very friendly and for the pricing all I can say is Wow. Plan to visit everytime I am in town.

Me and family go here all time, it is the best place around that has good food and is inexpensive. You get alot of food no matter what platter you choose. If we are not eating in the restaurant then we are ordering out to eat at home. The best place to eat at is La Tolteca, The employee's there are the nicest and friendliest people ever. They know us on a first name basis because we go in there so much.

My sons and I love this restaurant. We've enjoyed many meals. I miss the foods from SoCal rather frequently and so when we have a reason to celebrate or go for a treat this is one the places I enjoy.

We're planning another treat for this Saturday so we'll make the trip to enjoy this place.

As a Mexican, I can tell you that the food in La Tolteca is not authentic. Some things are, but most everything is "tweaked" to make it more Americanized. Example: lots of ground beef fill the tacos, enchiladas, etc. In Mexico you will never find this! Steak and chicken strips will always fill your tacos. Also, they don't put cilantro and onions as toppings in tacos, which in Mexico is the two toppings that you will always get. Also the salsa is not authentic at all. Authentic salsa will always be natural chopped or cooked tomatoes, or mashed tomatillos. La Tolteca serves the jarred kind which Mexicans don't eat, it's almost offensive to us!! Nothing wrong with liking La Tolteca's food, I'm just sorry to disappoint those who thought the food was authentic Mexican. If you want authentic, go to Fiesta Grill on Tollgate Rd. by the mall. Last week I was pleasantly surprised to be served hand-made tortillas, I almost cried! The best!

My fiance knows how much I love mexican food so he promised to take me which means a lot more than you realize because he does not care for mexican food. We both thought it was great. We went to the new one in Churchville on Sat night and it wasn't crowded at all. He got the #105 which included the most tender beef tips and I got the Dos Amigos special which was a huge amount of food for only $8.95. Overall everything tasted great and we will definately go back!!

This is one of the best places around to take kids!!! Mine are 2 & 4 and call it the "Dora & Diego Place." There is so much for them to look at and they love being able to get something simple like a burger & fries. I, as the adult, love the Mexican food. Great selection, fresh, inexpensive, nice staff, clean place. We will keep going back. :D

As Mexican restaurants go, this place is ok. Crowded and noisy on weekend nights. The margaritas are big and weak, little if any tequila. I'm sorry but I have never seen why people get so excited about Mexican food, more correctly Tex-Mex. Its mostly beans and rice smothered with cheese. The most basic of ingredients, its no wonder you have to drown it with hot sauce. The profit margin on Mexican food must be the highest of all cuisines.

This is the best place by far to get Mexican food in Bel Air. I have tried many of their dishes and have never been disappointed. The service is great although most times they haven't filled our drinks as often as I'd like (things can get spicy!) That's the only negative thing I can say. Go early because this place has caught on and it can get busy on weekends!

PROS: Great authentic Mexican food!
CONS: Hard to get a table on weekends

In a hurry, no problem? The service was fast and efficient. We were seated immediately as we entered and were delighted by this restaurant. The food was great and the portions were abundent!! They even have a liquor license so you can get great margaritas to go with.

The food is the freshest around. The vegetables were all crisp and cooked to perfection. The food all arrived quickly and cooked to perfection! The restaurant is large enough to handle most crowds, and is well maintained. The servers are difficult to understand, but they are patient with non Spanish speaking diners.

Love the atmosphere, small but cute. Food is priced right and tasty, love how they give you chips and salsa (2 types) right off the bat-free! Sometimes there is a wait because the place is small but its well worth it. Flan is delicious!

This place might be hard to find being it is in Bel Air (off I-95 exit 77 towards Bel Air), but definitely worth checking out. Prices are very good (Combination dinners $8.25) and very good magaritas (19 oz $6.50, 14oz $5.50). The place is small and popular, so you will have to wait for tables (average 15-20 min wait). This place has the distinction of making it to Carl Ripkin's TOP 10 best of Maryland. You will notice a few Polaroid?s of CR on the wall. The service is ok, but not great, food is exceptional. My colleague had the shrimp fajita (delicious!!) and I had the basic (taco, enchilada, Chalupa) dinner. It is very authentic to the nature. This place could improve in it's size and service, but overall its well worth the trip if you?re near Baltimore.

Pros: Food, Prices, Drinks

Cons: Service, location

This place is awesome! Absolutely the best, most authentic Mexican anywhere around Baltimore. I've been to Mexico several times and this food reminds me of the food there. They also make their own salsas. The red salsa has a spicy kick to it. And if you want to go up a notch, as for the green salsa. Once in a while, they even have a salsa more spicy than their green. And when you talk to the wait staff, you can actually find out which of the waiters made the salsa that day!!! I would warn you to go early and/or to expect a wait. Even on weeknights, there is a long line. Lunch is a little easier to get seated. However, once you order, food usually comes fairly quickly. Prices are very inexpensive for lunch and dinner. Portions are fairly large, especially if you eat the tortilla chips, you will not leave hungry. For vegetarians, they also have a vegetarian selection on their menu. Or if you see a combination that looks good from the meat portion of the menu, you can substitute (such as ask for the taco to be a bean taco or the enchiladas to be cheese). We have tried almost every restaurant in Bel Air, and this is just about the only one we actually go to. We have La Tolteca at least once a week, and sometimes more!

Pros: Delicious food, hearty portions, inexpensive

Cons: Long wait to get seated

I went to Mexico back when I was a teen and lived in Saltillo for about a month or so. I loved the food, but once I got back to the states, I never really found a place to get it. I don't count Taco Bell or Chi Chi's as real Mexican food. I remember loving refried beans in Mexico, and then trying some from a can here in the U.S. It reminded me of this dog food called Red Heart that my mother used to feed our dog. I swear, it looked and smelled exactly the same! La Tolteca is the taste I remember from Mexico. All of the food I've had there has been excellent and authentic. Their lunch menu is superb with fantastic prices. Try the fajitas. They could do a little better with making sure their employees have a firm grasp of the English language, but hey. . . it's a Mexican resturant for crying out loud.

Pros: Great authentic food. Prices.

Cons: Tiny parking lot.
