I have a 2005 S Type Jag that has leaking cooling lines issues. I spent hours checking for a honest Mechanic Shop that would take the time to discuss the transmission issuesand cost and Mike spent a hour explaining the problem and he gave me great solutions along great analogys that help me understand the mechanical aspect of the problem. Prior to speaking to Mike I felt like I had no other choice but to pay the high repair bill another Shop was charging NOT ANYMORE and I am glad there is another option soThank you Mike and I will work with Suburban Transmission again and again!!. .

I have a 2003 Dodge Neon. I went to Suburban Transmissions in Laurel, Maryland after talking to Mike. I was already told by Cottman that I had to have a new trans. Dodge told me the same thing first. Suburban replaced my speed sensor and so far it is working great, and cost me 120 dollars. Thank you Suburban.

I took my volvo v70 to a local shop and asked them to do a Transmission Flush. They told me they couldn't do it because they didn't have the correct fluid, except what really happened is that they didn't know how and ended up leaving me with no 3rd gear. The volvo dealership by default told me I needed a new transmission for $3k, regardless of the fact that the problem only started after I had taken it to the local garage. I called around and Suburban Transmissions was the only one who didn't by default tell me I needed a new transmission, and seemed genuinely knowledgeable. They figured out that the local garage (who denied doing anything), had by accident pulled the plug that held the 3rd gear band in place, thinking it was the transmission fluid plug. I saved $3k for not following the dealer's advice, who are supposed to be specialized in volvos. It's nice to know that there are still both Honest and Competent mechanics out there.

Um, hello???? Mike (the owner) said he had to drive my car home to determine the problem with my car!!! He drove it to Gaithersburg from Laurel, kept it at his home overnight, and then drove my car back to his place of business in Laurel the next morning!!!! He had the audacity to tell my husband if he hadn't driven our car home, he would have had to charge us for the 3 days it was in his shop!!! When we picked up our car, we didn't owe him anything, b/c he couldn't find anything wrong with the transmission, but he did try to change our filter and keep our car another night!! Hhhhmmm... I think he should have paid US, considering the gas prices AND the possibility of collision or THEFT!!!!! ASIDE from that, Mike's diagnosis did seem pretty accurate and the company does have a good website. When I spoke to Mike prior to taking my car there, he was VERY friendly, conversational, and seemed well informed about cars and Toyota transmissions. I would have given this company a better rating had Mike not told us he drove our car home!!!! I'd recommend them, but take ALL precautions they don't go for a joyride!! Know your mileage, gas levels, and take your registration (as we did). 2.5 stars.
