I've been going to Beltsville Veterinary Hospital, for about 7 years. I just love this place, they are really nice specially Dr. Spencer. He's very patient with the animals, and answers any question you might have. I have been trying to tell my husband to take his dog there, because his vet was ripping him off, and finally he started to take his dog there and he's also very happy he made the change. Now we take both our dogs, and cat there. I would recommend this place to anyone.

My family has been using the Beltsville Veterinary Hospital since I was a child and I would never take my pets anywhere else. The staff is friendly and helpful, appointments are easy and convenient, the prices are lower than any that my friends pay at other local vet's and the doctors are the best. My personal favorite is Dr. Fink but all of them are great. We recently had to have our 13 year old german shepherd put to sleep due to a brain tumor and Dr. Fink was there all the way with us. She always took time out for my phone calls, even on weekends, and was very professional yet like part of the family, when it came time to have the procedure done. When we got a new dog, the first person we called was Dr. Fink. I highly recommend this practice.

I have to say Dr. Prowell is the best. According to some people she was not nice, maybe you did'nt take care of your pets. (Believe it or not some vets actually care about thier clients)So that being said I have never had a problem with her and she has been awesome to me and my huge family. She helped me out when I needed help and was always honest and upfront with me.I live in Colorado now and love my vet. But shes not Dr. Prowell, whom if I had the money I would have her come out here.

He answered all of my new pet questions and took extra time to explain pet care... I am so happy I took my pet here.. Dr. Spencer now has a new pooch in his fan club :0)... And his Mommy too.. lol

They have taken care of my dogs for the last 13 years (George is 14 April 1st) and I have been pleased. They even accommodate our Jindo who was a terrified mess when she showed up at our door. She is not easy to handle but Dr.Fink can calm her down. Very fair costs.

We had taken our cats to 4 other vet practices prior to Beltsville. They have kept our business for many years now as they take good care of our cats, they have weekend hours, their prices are extremely reasonable, and they go the extra mile. For example - our cat recently developed an abscess and a high fever after a fight. It was Sat night, so we took him to Friendship Animal Hospital in DC. They charged $800 to keep him overnight and run some tests. When I went to Beltsville for a recheck, the doctor heard what I'd been charged at Friendship and didn't charge a penny. Our cat went back for several antibiotic booster shots and the charges were always very reasonable. Highly recommended.

I have been going here with my parents since I was a little girl, and now I take my own pets there. I also work at a vet now, and I still take my pets to Beltsville. There is one doctor who in my opinion is unpleasant to deal with so I always request Dr. Spencer, or Dr.Fink (although I have never had issues with Dr. Prowell or Sidor, just the one doctor I have left off). I have a chihuahua that does not like strangers at all and has tried to bite another vet but I can hand her to Dr. Spencer, and she will let him do whatever he needs to do. I have never had any problems with them, and I would highly reccomend them to anyone. Prices are also fair.

My family and I have been using this vet for many 10+ years. We have had few problems. Some of the Vets there do not go over the pet like they should and do push you out the door but there is a certain 2 vets that take the time and do anything and everything that is needed no matter the time.

Dr. Sidor is by far one of the most outstanding Vets within the DC Metro Area and in MD.

My Cat passed away in March of 07 from the Menu Foods tainted foods. We saw an older Male DR that was not Dr Sidor the day we took him in to get tested. They called up promptly Saturday Morning to let us know it was Kidney Diease at the last stages. We had to take him in on Sunday to be put to sleep.

When we went in we brought Frankie in without a crate. They didn't give us any problems. Dr. Sidor was the Vet that put Frankie to sleep. He let us spend as much time with Frankie as we wanted and Dr Sidor also took the time to sit there and explain all the details out.

They waived the cost of putting my cat to sleep and only made us pay for the cremation. Not many people/Vets would do that.

Then when we got my new cat Luna I decided that Dr. Sidor would be the only Vet I would see there due to how he was when frankie was ill and had to be put to sleep. I am EXTREMLY happy with that choice. Luna was born a Feral cat and has slight problems. Before I even mentioned it to Dr. Sidor he noticed it off the bat.

We had taken her in to get her shots and he let her walk around the room as he leaned against a wall and just watched her. He then pointed out things that we have noticed and explained it to us.

Luna also has a Upper Resp. INfection that just won't go and stay away so Dr. Sidor allows us to get her the Antibiotics when she needs them without going threw a full appt. So that helps with costs drastically!

Dr Sidor takes the time to understand the pets and the family. He doesn't rush anyone and will explain anything and everything to you.

The front staff are amazing also. When Frankie died they told us if there is anything that they can do just ask. Meaning information and printouts for records for the lawsuit against Menu Foods. They are willing to go above and beyond for the Families and Pets.

All and All the bad experiences I have had at this office were nothing short of the Vet I was seeing that day. Since changing to see Dr. Sidor I have had no problems and am beyond happy with the service I recieve.

This Vets office is noted as one of the best in the State of Maryland also.

We've been taking our greyhound to Dr. Prowell for about seven years. We've had nothing but positive experiences--friendly and efficient staff, excellent care by Dr. Prowell and very cordial and clear communications with her, etc. She can be business-like, which some may interpret as cold, and she's been around long enough that she probably doesn't put up with any unnecessary BS from customers.

Also, their prices are very cheap compared to many DC and Bethesda vets. They cheerfully accommodate our fear-aggressive dog. He can't wait in the waiting room because he gets so agitated around other dogs, so we keep him out in the car until Dr. Prowell is ready and the staff very nicely phones us to bring him in, directly to the examining room.

Highly recommended and worth the drive from the DC area.

We have been using Beltsville Veterinary Hospital for nearly twenty years for our cats. We have never had a problem of any kind with them. They have always been caring, accommodating and professional. This is one of the last places I know of that I go that has the same kind of community feel that my grandfather's country store had 50 years ago. Priceless.

I've been taking my labs to the Beltsville Animal Hospital for the past 15 years. The staff have been friendly, incredibly accommodating and very very knowledgeable. As much as my dogs mean to me, I would not even consider taking them anywhere else! I did have one bad experience BUT was the result of many things that were going on that instance, including the fact that my dog was bleeding and could hardly walk!! Both which the clinic had nothing to do with and my experience was only compounded by my own fear of what was happening to my dog.

The clinic is somewhat small but I have always found it to be clean and organized. The appointment wait time is minimal and the Vet always does an overall check of my dogs.

I have been using this vet for about 11 years now, after switching from rocky gorge animal hospital. This place may be small, but what it lacks in size it makes up for in friendly and knowledgeable staff, honest practice and an overall comfortable feeling. SJ S is probably just a stuck up prick who was being rude to the staff, and in return did not receive respect that decent people like the rest of us get. Trust the rest of us here, this place is very nice and they actually care about you and your pet!

I have taken my animals to Dr. Prowell at Beltsville Veterinary Hospital for many years now (maybe 15 or 16 years?). Dr. Prowell was recommended to me by the several of the owner / handlers at my dog obedience club -- those individuals tend to have pretty high standards about their veterinarians for their pets. I highly recommend Beltsville Veterinary Hospital due to the positive experience I've had there. Dr. Prowell is dispassionate and also compassionate, which is a good combination. You will get a straight-forward opinion, and good medicine. Dr. Prowell is an excellent surgeon as well. Dr. Prowell is good to talk to if you have an emergency. If you have a serious problem, you can get an appointment with Dr. Prowell and be confident that you are getting advice based upon a wealth of experience and sound time-tested medical care along with it. One of my dogs was very ill from the time she was a puppy. Unfortunatley, she did not live very long. Dr. Prowell was very patient and kind to her and to me.

Some people will ONLY go to Dr. Prowell. Dr. Prowell is always my first choice but there are other good veterinarians there also.

For example, Dr. Martof is excellent, though she works part-time. Dr. Palmer, Dr. Spencer and Dr. Fink, are very good also.

The front desk staff are helpful and kind especially Janet and Diane.

My 14 year old cat Nils was very ill . I had to make the decision to have him put to rest as he was suffering so much. I was very emotionally upset as I raised him from an injured kitten. The receptionists, Techs and the doctor took great time and care with me and Nils . They were all compassionate and I truly believe they knew how difficult this was for me. The time taken to prepare Nils was so very comforting. The entire staff are the most caring people I have ever encountered in a veterinary office. I want to Thank everyone for making such an emotional day easier to tolerate through your kind and generous actions with my cat Nils.

I started going to this vet 25 years ago. I have always had at least three dogs at a time. Many years ago I moved and hour away, but after trying about 10 other vets, I went running back to Beltsville. The other vets always wanted to start out by giving very costly tests, vitamins, topical sprays, special shampoos in addition to medications, all stuff that was very expensive, the dogs hated it and didn't seem to have any effect. It seemed like every time I came out of the other vets office I had a bag that cost me over $400 and a dog that needed at least one or two trips back until they got it right. I have NEVER had even one bad experience over all these years at Beltsville Veterinary Hospital. I always felt each vet I saw there had my pet's health as their #1 priority, not how much stuff they could sell me. Over the years, I have had 3 emergencies and each time each vet went out of their way to give my dog immediate and professional attention. I have seen them do the same with other people that have come in when I was in the waiting room. Because many of the vets there have been in the business for so many years they have seen it all and are very adept at diagnosing problems, which not only saves me money, but lessens the stress on my dog by not putting them thru a bunch of unnecessary tests and trips to the vet. They are very compassionate and gentle. The staff is very cordial for such a busy place and I always feel that they will do anything they can to help me. I cannot say enough good things about this vet.

This place may seem unfriendly, but that is because of Dr. Prowell, a mean veterinarian...but I work there and I know what goes on behind the scenes, and that person,"SJ S" is totally wrong. The people at the hospital are friendly and helpful and willing to be patient, unlike "SJ S" who was probably bitchy that day

I wouldn't recommend you this place at all. I took my two dogs there for two years and I have always felt rushed though the appts. The vets did not take their time to evaluate my dogs. My dogs would freak out everytime we visit this place.

In addition, this place is small and dirty.

I switched to New Carrollton Vet three years ago and have been pleased with the change. I am so glad that I changed vets!

My family has been taking pets to this vet for about 20 years. Even though we have encountered many different people there over the years, we have always been pleased with their knowledge and ease with animals. They do not charge any more than most vets, they take wonderful care of the animals that board there, and everyone seems to truly enjoy working with the animals. Additionally, sometimes you can adopt a cat or dog that has been abandoned to them, and you only have to give them a donation for the animal. I would definitely recommend taking your four-legged friends to this vet.

I use Beltsville Veterinary Hospital for the care of my pet cat. She goes there for all of her routine care and was also spayed by them. I can say that I feel that they provide excellent service. I have seen 3 different vets there and all were personable and knowledgeable. Their front desk staff is very nice and helpful. Prices are quite reasonable. They are open 7 days a week and evenings, making them convenient.
