I love going to Musicland because of the tremendous amount of sheet music right there in the store and the friendly atmosphere. The real thing - a music store as in the old times, with knowlegeable manager. Highly recommended.

We have been going to Music Land for over 10 years. My husband plays guitar and has purchased just about everything he has needed from Music Land since 1995. When our oldest started taking violin lessons in 4th grade we went straight to Music Land. My son is now in 6th grade and plays violin and guitar. My youngest started taking cello lessons now that he's in 4th grade. He plays cello and has recently started taking drum lessons as well. We have used Music Land for instrument rentals, music, accessories, etc. The staff is extremely helpful and courteous. I highly recommend Music Land. We have never had a single issue with the staff or anything we have purchased from them.

A couple of years ago I told my brother, Ray Dombrowski, that I was thinking about playing piano in the Bel Air area. Ray told me to look up a guy by the name of Joe at Music Land if I needed assistance in purchasing music, equipment, or anything connected to music. Ray then proceeded to tell me about his relationship with Joe Noto. Ray knew Joe when Ray was band director at Bel Air High. Joe was very helpful in getting whatever music equipment Ray needed to make Bel Air High Band one of the best in the area. From Ray's beginning with the band, through the time the band represented Maryland in Philadelphia during the 200th birthday of our nation, and until Ray retired, Joe was there to help.
I did go to Music Land for music and equipment and was treated nicely by the store's personnel, especially Joe. I felt as if I had been dealing with them for ages. I can truly say, from my experience with Music Land, that Joe is a "Pizon."

While on tour with a big band in California, our baritone sax player lost a pivot screw on his instrument. After trying numerous music stores in the San Francisco area, we could not get the repair part. One call to Gary at Music Land and our problem was solved. The part was overnighted to our venue, and all was well. Why deal anywhere else? Music Land is the greatest!

My son just learned the lesson of getting his mouthpiece stuck in his trumpet. Not only did Joe remove the stuck mouthpiece right on the spot, but he handled the situation with a great deal of sensitivity. My son's impression was that he was very kind. Contrary to those who have complained about service, our experience could not have been more positive. We are not regular customers (yet) as this is our oldest child's first instrument, but we will certainly be back.

I have know Joe for over thirty years. Joe is a very sincere, caring person who really desires to give you the best that he's got. He has been struggling with very serious health issues for some time now and I doubt if it were me that I would handle it as well as Joe is.This may help to explain what some people refer to as rudeness. Joe has always treated me and all of my friends with the utmost respect and has always given me and my students great deals on purchases. He is probably more knowledgeable about the products he sells than any other owner I know. If you do have a problem with Joe or disagree with him about something, talk to him. He is a reasonable man. As a matter of fact, the entire staff of Musicland as far as I am concerned are aces.

The repair artists at Musicland are great! They are truthful about the work that needs to get done and are easy to talk to about technical questions. My son took sax lessons there for years and the repair guys kept up with his alto, tenor, sop sax, and did a great job restoring a flute I bought on ebay. If you don't see music you want, just ask and it can be ordered for you. Personally, I like Joe. Be sincere & ask good questions and he is a God-given fountain of knowledge. We were able to buy all the accessories we needed there for both sax & guitar.

I walked in to MusicLand about 2 years ago. It had been over 30 years since I had set foot in the place having moved away from Bel Air, and I was a teenager the last time I was there. I had taken lessons there in the 70's for over 6 years. Anyway, Joe (the owner) recognized me instantly and we ended up talking for a long time. It was great reminiscing about old times, old instructors, etc. I mentioned to him that I still have the Les Paul Custom I had bought there in 1978, although I have owned over 150 guitars since then.

So, for sure the store still had an old vibe to it and that it was privately owned, but to me that was a refreshing bit of charm. The chain stores and mega-outlets can't really match the personalized service you can still get in a place like MusicLand. And although their guitar brand line was limited, I was reasonably impressed at the line up of instruments they had on hand. I imagine that it is not easy to make a profit with music stores these days. I can understand (somewhat) Joe's disposition. But I also recognize that he's an Italian guy, and if you engage him the same way he engages you, you are going to get along great. So to the lady who wrote that she sends her husband in , my recommendation is that you go in yourself and stick your finger in Joe's chest.

Good old Music Land. My father bought my first Ibanez electric guitar there when I was 10. Since then, I have bought a Gibson Les Paul, 2 American Stratocasters, 3 Fender acoustics, a few amps, and many strings, chords and picks. Joe, the owner of Music Land, can be a little stand-offish now and then. But, I guess when you have young kids wanting to play Les Pauls and Strats all day with no intentions of buying, it can get a little frustrating. Overall, Music Land is a great place to buy guitars. The amp selection is a little thin (no Marshall) but there is a nice selection of Gibson, Fender, Ibanez, and even some cheaper metal head guitars. I would definitely recommend anyone looking for a good deal to buy there!

I have been going to Music Land for the past 10 years, at first, Joe, the owner does seem to intimidate you. He is a great person if you are a return customer and has a good sense of humor. Any employee is glad to answer any question or have a look at something for you and will go beyond your expectations. The guitar selection is excellent and the employees have much experience and are great people to talk to.

The previous two reviews are both pretty much on the mark. The repairman is a pretty nice guy who does good work from what I've seen. The owner/manager is a really, really mean guy who seems to go out of his way to alienate people.

Their guitar selection is pretty good, though I wish they carried Taylors. Amps are good if you like Fenders and Peaveys, but Marshalls would be nice to check out, too.

PROS: Good selection, mostly decent people
CONS: Some major brands not represented, terrible manager

I haven't found a better music store in the Bel Air area than Music Land. Their repairman has worked with the store ever since I've been going there, and he even knows my name and my instrument. They have very reasonable prices, and are usually less than the other local compeitiors. I would recommend this store to anyone...their service is first class!

PROS: Friendly associates, good service, "family" feel, reasonable prices
CONS: Parking lot can be hectic at times

The store owner (or manager?) is pretty unfriendly. He's upset my child on more than one occasion by chastising them for minor wear on the rental instrument. He's not any better with adults. I always have the feeling that his customers are annoying him or that he is laughing at them. I've gotten to the point where I send my husband in if I can.
