This is a great little Zoo that has been updated by the new owners in September 2010. Lots improvements and the animals are looking so much better. Jimmie the Giraffe is awesome ! Plus the is a tiger, bear, camel, zebra and many other animals. My kids love it, because you can get so close to the animals.
It is small, but it's not as hectic as the bigger zoos, so it's nice. Some of the animals have feed machines for a quarter, and you used to be able to buy giraffe food at the front gate. (I'm not sure if they're still doing that, I didn't see it the last time I was there.) There is a nice picnic area, you can take your own food, and also a playground for the kids. There is a lot of shade, which I think is a plus for any outing!
This small Mom and Pop zoo is nestled off the main roads hidden by the trees. This zoo has enough to keep children interested for about an hour or so. The environment has become run down and dirty over the years. One area of concern was the alligator exhibit. During the winter months the poor guy is kept in a small tub that is half filled with green algae water. It is about 3 feet too short and the gator is unable to move about. There is a strong lacking of a nice concession stand for children. The bathrooms were the nicest feature of this place...these are large, spotless, and have ample supplies available. Sure, we will be back to visit, but are hoping for some environmental improvents this summer!
