susie j.

when i found an holistic vet, I was so happy. Unfortunately, Dr. tickert and the woman vet there don't care sick animal.
My cat was so sick and I brought her to the clinic and had a blood test. He said she was fine. but SHE WAS NOT FINE AT ALL. I took her to ER and found out she was so sick and had a terminal stage of cancer and eventually died. Vets at Abingdon do not want to be bothered by pets that really need great attention. I would not recommend this clinic to anyone.

When my very trusted vet said he could do no more for my elderly dog and knew I had questions about alternative therapies and nutrition, he referred me to Abingdon and Dr. Tiekert. This clinic is the best in the area for holistic veterinary medicine. Dr. Tiekert is very knowledgeable in many holistic disciplines and well as being an excellent animal dental surgeon. His chiropractic and nutritional therapies for my dog helped her live longer and have a better quality of life.

We drive about an hour each way to see Dr. Tiekert, and it's well worth the trip. He is knowledgeable in both holistic and allopathic care, so we can be assured of getting whichever type of care is appropriate.

He's a very practical fellow, with a sort of dry temperament... not as new-agey as one might expect for a holistic vet, but I like his style. His trust in his office staff is refreshing. He also feels no need to monopolize your pet's care; especially if you have traveled a long distance to see him, he will set you up with a treatment plan and suggest that you get palliative and/or emergency care closer to home.

Billing for a holistic consultation is "by the minute". That works out well because it includes some treatments, rather than you getting billed for them separately. (Not all treatments are included, and unfortunately I have not kept track of which is which.)

There is also an allopathic vet on staff, so the office is covered when Dr. Tiekert is away.

Abingdon Veterinary Clinic also offers boarding services at reasonable rates.
