I had very long hair that had never been colored or re-styled for 30 years. So of course I was pretty intimidated by getting a new cut and (gasp) having my hair colored as it was turning grey. Well, I should have moved sooner. Philip Gravels at Art and Chemistry of Hair is a genius. He cut my thick and rather unruly hair into a style that has strangers complimenting me on the street. He takes his time, listens, and doesn't rush you to a decision. He also spent hours with me getting a color that matched my original, and then conducting tests until he created a truly masterful match and a lovely color. He even highlighted it a little to get back some of the blonde notes time has taken away! I heartily recommend Phil to anyone who has ever wished they could find the perfect hairdresser who can listen and create flattering styles!

I have gone to Phil at Art and Chemistry for years. He has always done the best job on my hair. I have very long thick hair and before I found Phil, I used to have to go home and get somebody to re-trim one layer of my hair. Nobody was ever able to get my hair right until Phil. He has done my hair long and short. Color, highlights, Japanese Relaxers and yes even extensions. Before Phil started doing extensions I had gotten them done with a few other people, but they would start coming out within days. Of course, I was thrilled when I learned that Phil had taken up extensions. Once again he didn't disappoint. I have never looked, so good or had my extensions stay in so long. He is just brilliant with hair. If you are looking for the best in hair, make an appointment with Phil.

Being new to the area I asked my girlfriends where should I go for a new look. Several friends highly recommended Phil at Art & Chemistry, which is located conveniently right behind White Flint Mall. Being the type of person who does not embrace change, I was very nervous. That feeling lasted only a few minutes after sitting in Phil's chair. From the moment I sat down Phil put all of my concerns at ease. Not only did he educated me on My hair he gave me the best cut I have ever had. He quickly understood my needs in a new cut and proceeded to deliver a look I could only dream of having. My friends and family noticed immediately how much better my features looked with this darling new cut. I had no idea a hair cut could do so much for a persons confidence. I, like my friends, will recommend Phil to anyone who is looking for a hair stylist who is excellent at cutting hair and putting any fear of change to rest.

If you have curly hair that you have hated for years - Go See Cathy Stredwick. She is the master at Japanese Straightening. She does and amazing job. Takes the time needed to do a process like this.
Not to mention her hair cuts are beautiful. You leave her feeling like a new person. I have been seeing her for about 10 years and never left unhappy.

So I went to another salon as it was a little cheaper and... 24 hrs later I was at Art & Chemistry (referral from friend) begging for Annie to fix my hair. She did and still does. She relaxed my long curly blonde hair and if nothing else looks great on my person my hair does!Love it.. Highlights, Low lights, Relaxer and if you don't want to spend the relaxer $ have Annie blow it out...301-468-6900

Very trendy and very crowded and noisy. Philip is the one i usually go to and he is very good, takes his time and really takes care of your hair. The salon is just very busy, which leads to wait and that can be overwhelming....

Try Jennifer Julia for fabulous haircuts for men and women, as well as wonderful color work. Her work is meticulous and she is a total perfectionist. The salon is easy to get to with plenty of free parking.

Located just outside DC Art and chemistry hair salon provides many services such as cuts, color, highlighting. I was recommended by a friend who had some great highlights done here by Raychell. Very talented, located in the White Flint plaza it is also very convenient and easy to find a parking space. Often crowded I suggest making an appointment ahead of time. Prices are moderate, about $80 for highlights. Recommended!
