Good Food-Bad Service. We went on Super Bowl night knowing it wouldn't be crowded, as they have no mega TVs at bar. Unfortunately the waiter we should have had cut a deal with the other waitresses, and left(presumably to a super bowl party). Meagan started us off and I wish we had had Megan through the entire meal. However we wound up with Ms. Air Head (I think her name was Kim). The three of us ordered water 2 with ice lemon 1 with no ice no lemon, 2 decaf and 2 wines. Water came (no lemon) and the waitress felt the need to ask why my husband wanted no lemon or ice, because she couldn't understand why someone wouldn't want ice. So we had to explain that my husband had oral cancer, had part of his tongue removed and was sensitive to cold. I wondered why this was any of her business!! She went for the wines and the lemon. We asked for bread with butter and oil. That took two requests. Then she came with wine and no lemons. Then we ordered and asked for lemons AGAIN!!. The salad came fine and it was good- GREAT salad with blueberry dressing!! The main course came and she stopped dead in her tracts when she realized she had 2 entrees and the people. We asked for coffee again and she came back to say that my main course was served to someone else. Maybe believable if there had been more than 3 tables there but remember its super bowl and no one was there. Still no coffee. She comes with coffee and an assurance that my meal would be there in 2 minutes. She did buy me a wine and told me twice that it was on her - and so it should be since I'm pretty sure she never placed my order anyway. Then we had to ask the other waitress to send her to our table so we could order dessert. She served dessert to the wrong people at our table what that was the least of it, and we just passed it around. Then we had to ask the other waitress to send her back so we could get our bill. By the time my entree arrived we were one of two tables left, so she should not have had an issue with getting back to us. We went with a restaurant.com coupon and she stressed that she did not add the tip. We are usually 20% tippers before the coupon price-however she should had added the mandatory tip because I threatened everyone else that if they left over 15% I would pick it up. We questioned the bill that charged for 3 coffees and only 2 of us had coffee. She took off the third cup but made a point to say that the restaurant charged for refills but she removed the third cup anyway. When we left, someone asked if we enjoyed dinner. My friend said she thought it was crazy to charge for the second cup of coffee and the person said that they didn't charge. Well this is when I went ballistic and marched over to our waitress and pointed out that she was lying!! Then I went right to the table where the chefs were and told them briefly about the meal. Then I left and found this spot where I could vent. REALLY!! Lying about the coffee!! Get RID of that waitress!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Things have changed. The meatballs used to be homemade. Now they are 'processed' The marinara was very runny. Waitress got defensive when I mentioned that I have never had my plate covered in cheese from the kitchen. No one asked me if i wanted cheese on top of the sauce. I am lactose intolerant. Since it was half off wine night, waitress refused our restaurant.com gift card. The waitress was so stand-off-ish it kind of ruined the atmosphere. We used to want to stay and enjoy the ambiance, this time we couldnt wait to leave.

I've been to Scotto's many times over the years, mainly due to the food being very good and I like the casual atmosphere. I especially like the shrimp fra diavlo (called something else now on the menu), spaghetti with meatballs, sausage and peppers and their parmesan dishes. They are higher priced than many places but the quality is higher.

That being said, I have only had a couple servers over the years that have given really good service. Most of the servers have no personality and don't know the menu very well, some are downright bad. With the exception of about 3 servers, the turnover here is incredible. This is not surprising though because I have seen with my own eyes how the owners treat their staff. I have seen them literally screaming in the dining room at their employees, one of whom was a teenage hostess. After that experience I have not been back and now take my business to Liberatore's and Basta Pasta.

The restaurant is a great place to escape to have a quite romantic dinner. The food has always been divine, and the service top notch. You would think you are in Little Italy, but it is so close to home.

Family was in from out of town. Late one evening we stopped by and sat at the bar and enjoyed deserts and drinks. Staff was very friendly. We decided to try them out for dinner and went back the next day. Although Scotto's is pricey it is worth every penny. The food is the best, great atmosphere, and professional staff. When we want to splurge, we go to Scotto's for a relaxing time. We've been back a number of times and have yet to be disappointed. I highly recommend you listen to the daily specials. The chef really knows how to put together creative dishes that aren't on the normal menu.

The atmosphere is great. It's classy but slightly expensive. Again you get what you pay for the place is clean and has great food. It's Italian cuisine one of my favorites.

PROS: Classy, clean, & friendly
CONS: Not family oriented, and pricey
