Never Again. We used to go to the Williamsburg Inn at least once per month. We moved away 10 years ago and have only been back a hand full of times since.
Today we made plans to visit friends and drove in from out of town for dinner. What a horrible mistake.
The restaurant used to have a nice feel of Antiques. Now it just smells of mold. One of the fireplaces was burning, the other had a big bucket to collect the dripping rain water leaking in. It felt damp and cold.
The food was poorly prepared and tasted awlful. The portions were very, very small for the price. Worse: the were out of Prime Rib. That is their specialty. I was confused. We were one of the first people to arrive for dinner at the restaurant, yet they were out of their specialty. There were hardly any other customers. Why? What's worse, we were not told they were out until after we have ordered drinks, soup and salad. The soup and salad had arrived and we had already eaten them. That's when the waitrss showed up with menus telling us that we had to reorder. We could not leave to go to another restaurant.
We asked to speak to the manager and we got someone who clearly did not care to speak to us. He had a chip on his shoulder. How can you justify being condescending and unprofessional? His attitude was the final straw.
Never, never again.

Business Response:

First of all, let me apologize for your unfortunate experience at the Williamsburg Inn. Since purchasing the restaurant about a month ago, we have been working tirelessly to fix the many cosmetic and aesthetic problems it has. There was a damp feeling throughout much of the restaurant, especially the lobby area. That has been dealt with entirely and the problem has been fixed. Even more importantly, the leaks have all been repaired and the overall look of the place has been updated while keeping the colonial theme that the Inn is known for. As far as the food goes, we do apologize again that you had an unsatisfactory experience, although it was about a year prior to our ownership. As of my writing this response, a new menu is being put into place, and adequate stocks of all food (especially the prime rib) will be kept. We hope you decide to give the Williamsburg Inn another chance, especially since it is under new ownership. We are doing our best to provide all of our patrons with the best dining experience possible. -Joe

Made reservation--table not ready; small glasses, no refills (even water) until after second course; prime rib--half fat (but admittedly, good flavor); seated in high traffic area. This was supposed to be a special occasion for my daughters birthday--should have gone elsewhere.

I love the atmosphere at this comfortable restaurant. The food is always good, although a little more pricey than average. A nice place to go for a casual dinner or even lunch.

A nice little restaurant to get a good lunch or dinner. The drinks are very large and strong! The menu features a decent variety of food. The service was efficient. The prices are a little bit more than average, but it is a nicer restaurant than most in the area.

Business Response:

We, the new owners of the Williamsburg Inn are doing all that we can to make our patrons' experiences excellent. There is a new menu being put into place, with reductions in pricing where we can. We hope you will come back to see the updated look and feel of the Williamsburg Inn. -Joe P.S. Glad you enjoy the big drinks!

Decent food but somewhat pricey. Unique atmosphere with old style accomodations. Great for group events including wedding rehersal dinners, but not the place for children. Even though they knew children were in our wedding group they were still given glassware and thin glasses. The building appears to be in need of repair.

PROS: Great for group events
CONS: Somewhat expensive
