I called and they came the next day for estimate. Wooden Fence installed within 10 days, no problem, paid the bill and all went well. I know they have the best reputation in the Mid Atlantice region; they exceeded my expectations. Have referred to family and friends.

I requested an estimate to fence in my vet practice...needless to say the request was about as far as I got. Need I or anyone else say more?

I could not even get past the estimate phase with them. My wife called to get an estimate for my insurance company for the deck on the front of my house that was burned in a fire. They said someone would call back within an hour, they never did. 4 hours later she called them back and asked if they really wanted our business.

They assured her they did and apologized and scheduled an appointment for today. My wife explained that she would be home until 11 AM but left for work then. They assured it the appointment would be between 9-11 AM and made a note that she would leave after 11. This morning she received a call from the salesperson. He stated in a semi rude manner that there was no way he would be there before 11 since is was after 10 and he was just getting to work.

He said he would still go to the house and leave an estimate in the door. It was explained to him that this estimate was to be turned in to an insurance company and needed to be a detailed estimate with materials and labor breakdowns listed. When I arrived home form work there was a package of sales brochures in my door with a hand scribbled note with a single price on it, no breakdown, no detail, nothing I could submit to my insurance company.

I called the local phone number pretty angry by now. I was greeted at 4:00 in the afternoon by a voice mail that informed me that the voice mail box was full and could not receive any more messages and it hung up on me. I then called the 800 number and after venting on the poor girl for a minute she suggested she transfer me to "customer service". I was transferred and i asked if I was now speaking to customer service and was told no I was not. I vented more on this girl before she offered to transfer me to the sales persons' manager. He of course was not in and I was forced to leave a message.

I have now given up all hope of actually doing business with these people and i am amazed that they are still in business with the way they treat perspective customers.

I contracted to have a fence built by Long fence. They told me that they would contact me and let me know when the job will start. To this day, 3 weeks later, I have yet to hear from them. I want to warn you, while I still try to get a fence built, do not use these people. They have NO people skills. They will tell you ANYTHING to get the sale. We have contacted them twice and each time they tell us the fence will be finished by a certain date, Those dates come and go with not one single call from the company. DO NOT USE LONG FENCE. DO NOT USE LONG FENCE. I hope that, what we are going through, does not happen to you.

I contracted for a wrought iron driveway gate anchored to 6-foot tall brick columns. All the work was done by nameless subcontractors whom I did not approve. One crew did the masonry, another did the gate assembly, and a third hung the gate. From what I heard while watching the work, only the crew supervisor spoke English. I had thought that Long had their own crews. Wrong!

The bricklayers took 5 days to do a 1-day job. They used substandard mortar with excessive gaps between bricks. The partial bricks were simply broken to approximate size instead of being cut to fit. A couple bricks were not cemented. The top cap was not finished properly - it was 1/4" flat masonry instead of a thick, slightly domed cap that water would run off of. They did not backfill the columns, but left them sitting in large holes in the yard.

The wrought iron is rusting after less than two months.

I called numerous times to get the columns backfilled and proper masonry caps finished. They sent the same lousy crew out to correct the job - finish the job, really. The final caps are cracking after 1 week because the masonry was improperly mixed. Before the job was even finished properly, Vicky at the "customer service" department was dunning me for the final payment. She never did act as an advocate to provide proper customer service - she acted in the role of bill collector.

I paid the final bill and will correct the deficiencies myself.

Long Fence Co. installed right-of -way fence for VDOT Willow Run Road project in Harrisonburg, VA. The corner posts installed 14 inches in the ground when asked, I was told you we left the chain saw at the office, if post were cut off you can't tell. These post already planted in concrete about 100 .Most line post installed 7-12 inches in the ground. This project started Nov. 26, 07 today Feb. 17 ,08 I walked the fence row and picked up over 2 lb. of wire ,staples and barb wire in less than 800 ft. after asking the crew to please check for any . So if Long Fence Co. builds any fence for you or close to your land PLEASE WATCH it might blow away with a little wind. Landowner

I hired Long Fence of Capitol Heights, MD to put a 7-foot privacy fence around my backyard. Unbeknownst to me, they put the fence inside my property line, giving my neighbors one foot of my property. For some dumb reason, I hired them again to put a fence around my front yard. This time, after I had paid them in full, they claimed I still owed them $150 for a permit, which was not detailed on the contract. After several attempts to correct this error, they sent my account to collections. I paid the $150 and vowed to them that I would let everyone know to stay away from Long Fence. I guess the old adage of fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me is true. I should never have hired them again.
