I came into this place for services on my 09 Civic Si. I had problems with the suspension in which i heard rattling noises and clanking noises. When i came there and asked if they could fix the problem, they told me the noise was from my aftermarket exhaust which was not secured tightly. I went home and checked. It was on there pretty tight and not moving. I wiggled it and it didn't make a sound or hit anything in the undercarriage. I went to my local Shell Gas station to speak with my longtime mechanic and he told me that its not my exhaust, it's my endlinks. Upon knowing this, I came back to Honda of CP and told them I had another mechanic look and told me it was my endlinks. The service advisor then brought my car back and when he returned, he stated, that it was my exhaust and not my endlinks. So, the clanking noise continued on my drive home. I then purchased a set of endlinks from Advance Auto Parts for about $40 and changed the damn things myself. Guess what? Noise was gone. No more clanking, and no horrid sound from the rear of the car. My impression of this place is that the people here are extremely lazy, most of the time, I just see them sitting around and about talking to one another. I feel like as soon as they see an aftermarket part installed, they want to put all the blame upon that and not do the work themselves. Was it so hard to tell me that my endlinks had gone bad and bill me for the services? I don't think so. Knowing that they didn't care, i foolishly went there once more when I had my coolant leak. I should've gone to my trusty old mechanic, but instead opted for this place. Since I could not find the leak, I came there and asked them to find the leak and tell me how it could be fixed. The service advisor came back and told me that it would cost over $200 with labor to get it fixed. I asked him where the leak was and he told me, the lower radiator hose. I can buy a hose for $40 at advance auto parts. so i told him, no, I don't want it fixed. When the tech drove my car out, he told me that it was a small hose (not the lower radiator hose the advisor had previously stated) and when I asked him to show me where, he would not show me. He just kept looking at me and stated that it was a small hose. I know it was a small hose, i wanted to know where that small hose was, but he still wouldn't show me. I went back to my local mechanic that day and he told me he could fix it for basically free. Why? Because the hose CP had quoted me $200 for was actually just a 3/5ths sized hose (smaller than an inch) and was only THREE INCHES LONG. If you ask me, I'd say CP was trying to rip me off. So my local mechanic did it for free and all i had to do was pay $20 to replace my coolant. Basically, this place is full of lazy people that tries to rip you off. Never again CP, never again.

STAY AWAY, WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!! The Salesman Richard Reddick lied, they said they would meet any written offer, but when it came to it they said "NO", they didn't believe that the offer that I showed them was real, but didn't want into calling anyone a liar. They inflated the Freight Charge to $830 when ALL HONDA'S are $770 for Freight and that is guaranteed by HONDA AMERICA! The sales man said I was crazy if I thought I would get more than their offer for my trade, and I got $5000 more than their offer. Don't go for the "life time warranty", it is not worth the trouble. You will be lied to, you will be taken advantage of, you will be treated badly and they will RIP YOU OFF!! I got an AMAZING DEAL at Northwest Honda, I saved $4000 on my new 2012 Civic and I got an AMAZING TRADE! Do your self a favor, stay away from COLLEGE PARK HONDA, they are nothing but RIP OFF ARTISTS!!!!!!!!

Do not buy from this dealership.

I took my family to College Park Honda on 4/16/2011 to test drive a pre-owned Honda Pilot and negotiate a purchase of the Pilot with a trade-in of my car. After the salesman, Eddie, offered a low amount for my car, we left the dealership. Thereafter, in successive voicemail messages, Eddie and his internet sales manager, Reagan Harrison, increased the offer to a final amount of $20,000. The next day, Sunday, I called both Eddie and the dealership and agreed to come in on Monday to purchase the car. On Monday morning, I again called the dealership, and confirmed with Reagan that the offer of $20,000 for my car was acceptable and that I would come in after work at 6:00pm that day to purchase the Pilot. Reagan stated that the Pilot would be ??all cleaned up and ready to go? for me. I made plans to leave work early and drive the hour to the car lot in rush hour traffic.

On April 18th, I left work in DC to drive to College Park. At 5:30pm, en route to the dealership, a different manager called me to verify that I was coming in, and stated that two other people were interested in the Pilot. I confirmed that I was en route. Upon arrival shortly after 6:00pm, I learned that neither Eddie nor Reagan were present. I was directed to a salesman, and I explained that I was there to purchase the Pilot and had already agreed upon the trade-in amount with the internet sales manager. After several minutes, the salesman??s ??boss? came over holding a stack of stapled documents with ??$20,000 Trade In? written and circled on the top sheet. He stated that although my ??request? had been for $20,000 they were offering about a thousand less. After I explained that I never requested any amount, but had accepted Reagan??s $20,000 offer, he returned to his office for several minutes.

When he returned, he informed me that no one had ever told me they would pay $20,000. I explained that I had specifically verified that with Reagan before making the appointment, and that I would not have driven there otherwise. I asked him to call Reagan and that I would also do so. He said he would call Reagan and again returned to his office. I called and left a message on Reagan??s voicemail and waited for 15 minutes, watching another couple conducting a transaction.

My new salesman then came over and told me that I should ??make a better offer to [his] boss? or they will sell the Pilot to someone else ??to make more money on it.? At first I thought he was using a crude sales tactic. After a few minutes, however, I realized he was completely serious. I got up and asked a salesman and the manager if this was true, that they were selling the Pilot to someone else while I waited for a response about my trade-in. They informed me that they had sold the Pilot to the couple seated near me and there was nothing I could do. When I protested that I was told that we were waiting for Reagan to confirm the trade-in offer, the manager said he had not spoken to Reagan and was not going to. When I noted that I had already agreed to purchase the Pilot and had driven there in rush hour traffic to do so, I was simply dismissed. After a few moments of awkward silence and staring, I had no choice but to leave. I called Reagan and left another message, detailing what had transpired. Neither Reagan nor Eddie has returned my calls to explain or apologize.

I need to stress that each interaction with the manager was filled with hostility and rudeness towards me. It is now obvious that he never intended to honor the deal with me, but rather wanted me to leave so that he could sell the Pilot to the couple and make more money on that deal. In the process, I was blatantly lied to, was accused of fabricating the offer from Reagan, and was kept waiting under false pretenses while the Pilot was secretly sold to someone else.

Business Response:

After posting a reply asking for more information (on http://DealerRater.com), I never heard back from this poster. Details are not accurate as there are two sides. In addition, this is posted under College Park Honda when in fact he was dealing with our used car department which operates out of College Park Hyundai. Eddie and Regan are both amazing, hard working people and they work hard to provide great customer service. We wish this poster well. Heather

I decided to come to this dealership because they would somewhat match a service timing belt job from another dealer quote of $699 they wanted $775. Fine, then they called to charge me $180! For a tensioner which is included in all timing belt, water pump installs which after taxes will be around $1000 which I can have done at any other dealer. The rep was named Junior, he was nice and cool but overall they won't price match. More expensive especiall when I told them I found a tensioner at another dealer for $82!

We did try to follow up with this poster as there was more to the story. We appreciate you bringing attention this issue so we can continue to improve our service. Heather

First of all, let me start by saying that I am a long time customer of College Park Honda. My family and I own four Honda's-three of which were purchased from College Park Honda. All four of our cars have been brought here for service for almost ten years. We have experience in dealing with most of all of the employees of this dealership-and all are welcoming and want to be helpful.
As far as the sales department goes-we have had nothing but positive experiences. We have purchased three new Honda's from these guys over the span of seven years, and we will go back when the time comes to purchase another car. My father has been a business man his entire professional career, and we have never felt as though we were being taken advantage of in terms of pricing, financing, etc. They are honest and while they want our business, they are respectful of our wishes. I was 16 when I got my first car, and that first experience we had buying a car from them was exactly like the last two. I am 24 and will head to CP Honda when I am in the market for a new car. The employees of the sales department have never treated me any differently then they have treated my parents-with attentiveness and interest in what my needs are. John Davis is wonderful. We also deal with Carlos Gomez and Uday.
Now onto the service department. We have been loyal to these guys for many years and we have no regrets. They treat us like family and always cater to our needs. Since purchasing my car in 2004, I have been in and out of CP Honda time after time and the experience is the same across the board. Regardless of if my car is in for scheduled maintenance, or if I am paranoid about something potentially being wrong with it, they are always happy to take a look at it and answer all of my questions-most of which are elementary seeing as how I know nothing about cars. Again, I have never felt taken advantage of, or been made to feel like my business isn't valued. If I call to ask a question, I always get a call back. If I need to come in at an inconvenient hour, they make it happen. If I want all of my options laid out for me-they are glad to do it and they are honest and up front. We have dealt with Frank Davis for years, and I encourage people who are interested in bringing their cars here for service to give him a call. Robert Coates and Justin Brewer are also wonderful to deal with-they truly have your best interests at heart and will listen to you and help find a solution to whatever your problem may be. The service deparement (service rep's, tech's and management) exemplifies customer service that exceeds standards. If they personally cannot answer your question, they will find someone who can. They truly posess all of the characteristics of a solid, productive service deparement.
I am shocked at some of these negative reviews I have read, and I can only hope that people can find comfort in my review. With multiple dealerships in our area, we would have no problem with taking our cars somewhere else if we ever felt like our needs and the needs of our cars were not being met.
CP Honda cherishes its customers and values all of the business it receives whether from a loyal long time customer or a first timer. I recommend this dealership to everyone for both sales and service.

6/2011 - Thank you so much for the glowing review Sara! We are more than delighted to hear about your years of good service with us. We look forward to seeing you for years to come! Have an awesome summer! Heather (PS - I know you posted this a while ago - we have had some ongoing access issues with Insider Pages so we were unable to comment)
.

My wife and I had an excellent experience with the sales and financing department at College Park Honda January 5 and 6, 2011, especially Michael Greengold and Tharius Robinson, although we made our purchase at another area Honda dealership. Had we not received a friends and family discount at this other dealership I am certain the rating for our experience would be 5 stars. To be clear, we were first-time buyers so we were very impressionable. We were skeptical that our experience would be much different from the reviews since all the negative reviews were specific about the sales people. However, as the responses from Heather state here about how the dealership has changed since coming under new management in January 2010, I can attest that they - at least Mike and Tharius, and even sales managers Uday Gulati and JD - don't operate the same way they are accused of on insiderpages. We were treated with the courteous, honest service CP Honda claims in their online ads.

We were looking to buy a used CRV we saw on their site - lured by the Lifetime Warranty offered exclusively at CP Honda, more on this further down - shopping on a limited budget with a junker for a trade. Michael, who conscientiously took these into consideration after taking an Internet coupon offered on the site for our trade and seeing my credit score, offered us a "new" 2010 - undriven, zero miles, one model-year old. The experience with Michael could not have been better. The interest rate was guaranteed from America Honda, Inc. so there was no risk of losing the rate like some reviews claimed, and the Lifetime Warranty is just like it sounds, guaranteed by CP Honda for the life of the car, redeemable at any Honda dealership in the U.S. with a $100 fee every time you use it (small price to pay for major transmission/engine repairs which could happen if you're like us: looking to buy a car to drive for years), and Tharius makes all this clear so there are no surprises, providing the warranty in writing to look over during financing. The financing part comes last in the process, after dealing with sales, the test drive, etc. But once we sat down with Tharius to go over our budget and the cost the dealership was asking us to pay, he was extremely patient and considerate. He made the process transparent by turning his computer screen toward us so we could see the costs and how the financing would work. We saw it all: the sticker price, which they reduced appropriately; taxes and tag fees, the ProPak fee, our $500 trade-in value, our interest rate and financing amount, and our monthly payment amount. He took the time to show us how our monthly payments would change if we included the 5-year bumper-to-bumber warranty (which is separate from the Lifetime Warranty), put less money down, if we included/removed some of the dealer add-ons, etc. Seeing all of this as he saw it made the process so rewarding because it showed that he and CP Honda were trustworthy. We weren't ready to commit but gave them our word that we'd return to discuss this decision further since we needed to review the different payment amounts we were facing, so he saved the info on his computer and pulled it back up when we came back the next day. Such excellent customer service!

Sure there are other sales people and financiers at this dealership but if you look to buy from CP Honda, hopefully Mike and Tharius will be who you deal with.

First of all, I would like to let everyone know I am 22 years old and looking to buy my first car. This dealership was the first dealership that I decided to give a real chance to because Brian Haley said he would ??do whatever it takes to make me come to College Park Honda to buy the Civic I wanted.?

With that being said, you can only imagine how horrible this went. First of all, I used to work at a dealership and date a car salesman. I know all the tricks that these guys play on customers and it makes me sick to my stomach what happened yesterday, August 17, 2010. It made me so upset that I had nightmares about the gentlemen and what they did. At 4:30 (an hour before I was supposed to be getting there), Brian calls me to tell me they sold the Civic he was going to sell to me and they had one they could get me by tomorrow but to still come in today to go over the paper work. I agreed because I understand that kind of stuff can happen.

I walked in, and it took a few minutes for Brian to come down because the receptionist ignored me as I stood there for 5 minutes, waiting for her to page the sales representative. When I saw Brian, for a moment I felt relief. He has a nice appearance and looked like a decent guy. We sat down, and immediately one of the first applications he had me fill out was a credit application. For everyone??s information, that is the LAST application you fill out because you do not need them to run your credit until the price is finalized??please do not make the same mistake I made. When I came in there, Brian and I agreed to a price of $16,752 + $250 discount because he said he would ??match? the price I was given at another dealer. Well to my dismay, the new car they were getting for me tomorrow had ??mud flappers? that were going to cost me $995 extra. I told him to take them off. He said no. So Brian and my dad negotiated down to $300. But Brian forgot the extra $250 he promised to take off the price. So I shot back with, ??Well Brian you forgot the $250 so I guess that turns out to be $50 extra for the mud flappers which is something I can afford. So I will do $50 extra for this.? I think it is ridiculous that I had to pay extra money for items added on to a car that I did not ask for. I shouldn??t have to pay for that because if it was that easy to install then it should be that easy to uninstall if the customer doesn??t want it (which I made clear I didn??t want it). Mr. Haley said, ??I will see what I can do with this? and disappeared upstairs.

Next, Mr. Haley comes back with a new gentlemen Mr. Uday, who sat down with us to start negotiating these mud flappers that I apparently had no choice on paying for. He proceeded to talk to my dad about this. My dad told Brian once and now Mr. Uday to direct questions to me, Alison, because I am the buyer??not my dad. Mr Uday began talking to me like I was someone off the streets. He said statements like, ??What can you do for me? Come on??what can you do for me? and looking down at the paper. I told him there is nothing I can do for him. I didn??t agree to pay for those nor did I ask for them. Then he started saying, ??We gotta make a living too? and proceeding to look at me and my family like we owed it to him to jack up the price of the car to put money in his pockets. At this point I was ready to go. The harassment and the chauvinistic behavior of these two men towards me disgusted me. First of all, all of the papers I signed up until that point were in my name. The car was going to be in my name. Why they would direct any questions towards my father, I don??t know. Second of all, don??t ask me to volunteer more of my money to your company when I already agreed on a price with Brian. I shouldn??t be faulted for the mechanics added on features to the car that I didn??t want or agree to. Sorry your mechanics are that bored they do things like that? Regardless, I refuse to pay for that.

Next, my mom decided to see how much they were going to charge all together for everything, included taxes, titles, freight etc (typical fees attached to the base price of the car). The price ended up in the low twenties. I could have dealt with that had the two men not been such disgusting pigs towards me as a woman and trying to take advantage of me. The final blow came when Mr. Uday started saying that he may not be able to honor the 0.9% financing that is posted on every Honda dealership and even on the Honda USA website. At this point, I had enough of their sales pitch and I told my family I was ready to go. I refuse to ever step foot in this dealership again. I will make sure to send this letter to Honda USA as well.

Sorry to hear 9/1/10 Thank you for taking time to let us know about your experience and I apologize that it was not a pleasant one to say the least. It is very unusual for our receptionist to not be attentive and for Brian or Uday to be rude, discriminating and/or full of tricks. We have not had prior issues with these folks and it will be addressed. With all that happened, your frustration is certainly understandable. We will use your feedback to continue to improve our services. I‚??m glad to hear that you were able to purchase the vehicle you were seeking at the price you wanted. All the best, Heather
.

So I almost bought a car from College Park Honda. It started on the internet - when I solicited several dealers for their best internet quote. College Park Honda offered the best deal by far. I followed up, and was prepared to buy the car. Then the salesman told me that his original quote, which we had discussed extensively several times, was incorrect, and wanted to raise the price more than $1,000.00. I felt this was disingenuous and essentially amounted to unfair business practice. After the experience, I found these reviews online, and realized that many others had had bad experiences. Just one more voice to concur. And this was in July, 2010, well after the change in management.

Curious I would like more information so that I can investigate internally. If you feel so inclined please email me at hgraham@cpautos.com - I would appreciate it. Again, we are under new mgmt and we strive to do all the right things; however, just like any business, sometimes things go astray. We appreciate the feedback once it happens and would ask in the future to let us (or any business you are working with) know as the problems is occuring as it we can address it more quickly. Thank you. Heather

I read many of the negative complaints about College Park Honda spread all over the internet. Like a fool, I wasted a bit of time visiting. I was looking to replace a fairly new Civic with something a bit larger. The March 2010 incentives seemed inviting. While I expected bad things out of CP, the reality was even worse. They offered to sell me a new vehicle at an unrealistically high price (compared to other delears), they low-balled the trade-on by nearly $2K (over what I got at another dealer), and they insisted on some overpriced add-ons (which other dealers did not). Being impatient by nature, I simply left when it became obvious what CP was up too. I shudder to think what their finance department would be like. (Based on a recent review by Shann V, my concerns regarding CP's finance department seem to be well founded.) My advice to anyone thinking of buying from CP is to check the internet. I think only a fool would waste time with these people. By the way, I ended up purchasing the new Honda I wanted at a net price which was nearly $5,000 less than CP's net price, and this did not include any of CP's silly add-ons. With a little work, anyone can achieve the similar savings. Avoid these guys.

It appears someone from CP posted a response. During the buying process, I contacted Sport, Hersons and Criswell, all offered a much better buying experience than CP.

I do note the response from CP does not deny anything in my review. It is particularly noteworthy CP did not deny the expensive add-ons. The Honda vehicle I purchased has a list price of $29590 (including freight). CP has this vehicle listed at a price of about $30600. Guess what the difference is? I ultimately purchased this vehicle for under $25,000 (including freight). This price does not reflect the impact of my trade-in vehicle.

Thankfully, there are web-sites like Insider Pages where people can identify and frequent business who strive to put customer satisfaction high on their list of goals.

The management at CP apparently is not schooled in marketing as they fail to recognize an unhappy customer tells far more people than does a happy customer, or perhaps they do and they simply don't care. There are many reasons CP's reputation is less than good, a couple of responses on Insider Pages will not impact that reputation, actions will. Based on the continuing number of negative reviews, CP has not changed anything.

It appears CP's selling technique is to try to squeeze every possible dime out of customers. When companies have this as their goal they have a certain way of thinking. On the other hand, when a business has a goal of meeting customer expectations and building customer relationships they will have a completely different way of thinking.

I find it amusing that CP is trying to convince people it will provide an extended warranty of some sort for free. Only an idiot would buy that claim. In reality, the extended warranty is not free or it is useless, probably both.

Once again, CP has responded with a bunch of baloney. An Ex is an Ex at any Honda dealer. I would ask CP to describe a stripped Ex. CP could not pay me enough to work for them, I am not in the car business, but I am knowledgable of costs and profits. I have simply described my experience so that others may have as much information as possible upon which to make an informed purchase.

I found that neither Sport, Hersons or Criswell "accessorized" (cute word CP!) their vehicles to any great degree. Oh they included a wheel lock "accessory", but all agreed to include the locks at no cost.

Edmunds calls CPs "accessorize" sticker the rip-off sticker and notes the products/services included add high-profit for the dealer while holding little or no value for the consumer. Edmunds suggests dealers who employ such tactics probably won't offer the best deal and advises customers to generally avoid such dealers. Experience gained over many decades of buying cars has taught me dealers who "accessorize" vehicles with overpriced stuff are best left for others to enjoy.

Do yourself a favor, visit other local Honda dealers and save some money!

Update - Response to CP Comment on my post -

I am not a former CP employee nor a competitor. My "agenda" is to pass my experience to potential buyers. Having bought three Hondas since 2008, I fell somewhat familiar with most of the local dealerships. Interestingly, I did not buy any vehicle from CP as I had no trouble finding better deals and much more pleasent buying experiences elsewhere.

Review 4-10 6-10 Once again, I cannot specifically address this reviewer‚??s issues as there is not enough detail for me to research. Dealer‚??s prices vary for different reasons. It is confusing, but there are often underlying reasons why one dealer will go lower than another at a specific point in time. That said, we do try to remain very competitive. Some of our vehicles come equipped with accessories that previous customers have told us they appreciate. Many of our vehicles do not have accessories....and one can almost always order a stripped vehicle. Most dealers around the beltway accessorize some or all of their vehicles. We sell 150-200 Honda's per month and we know from internal processes and Honda Corp. surveys that 95% of our customers are very happy. We of course strive to reach 100%. Reviews in general must always be given consideration. Often ones that are too good or too bad to be true are written by someone with an agenda, ie past/present employee, competitor, etc. Review sites that post the date of the review (the majority of ours are older) and ping where a customer is sending the review from are the best sites in my opinion.

To anyone looking to buy a car in the Washington, DC, Metro Area:

Hopefully your experience will be better than mine when buying a new vehicle. I am writing this in regards to the terrible service I have dealt with since buying my car. I purchased a 2009 Honda Accord at College Park Honda. From the beginning the service was not welcoming or friendly, something most people look for when buying a car. I am a student at East Carolina University and needed to have the tag and title in North Carolina. Tharius Robinson, the Finance manager lead me to believe that this would be an easy process and that their policy was they would take care of it (they did not let buyers issue tags). Once sending them the required information they needed (insurance and license) I should have my tags within two weeks. My temporary tag lasted me two months allowing me enough time to get the information to them. Within two weeks of my temporary tag expiring I started worrying that they were not going to get it to me on time. I called everyday and was told to speak to Patty. Patty never answered her phone or returned any messages. I would call several times in a day and would never get an answer. I would then call Tharius asking for information on Patty and where my tags were in this process. He could not help me and told me (with 2 days left on my temp. tag) that he would call me back the next day with the information. Two days later, no call. The customer service was awful. I could go on and on how many times I have left messages and not heard anything back or heard the classic "we will call you tomorrow morning" and heard nothing back. In addition, they were rude. It was always ??my fault? and they always had the tone of being annoyed that I kept calling everyday but if they are not going to take care of my tags and their policy is they are the only ones that can, what else am I supposed to do?

I am still without a license, can??t go to work, or run any errands and they want to blame me. You would think upper management would teach their employees that the customer is never wrong but not at College Park Honda. They refuse to send me another temporary tag because this was my fault and even if they could it would not get here for another three days. To top it all off, the finance manager tells me that I??m not the only one having this problem, so that should make me feel better? That just proves they don??t value me as a customer but many other customers trying to buy from them.

I suggest staying far away from College Park Honda not only because of their horrible customer service but word from other customers is their ??lifetime free oil change? is not free.

Went here a couple times for oil changes. The service is friendly and efficient. They periodically send out oil change coupons for $20 for oil, lube, and filter. They generally run right on schedule for these routine maintenance appointments. Priced tires as well and they are a bit cheaper than many of the surrounding businesses and in general, would be a good place to go for car service.

I first started with College Park Honda about 4 or 5 years ago. Though they were pricey I thought they did decent work. That was until I went in for my 30,000 major tune-up. I have a 2004 Honda CRV and thought that I needed a major tune-up at 30,000(like most cars). I called the day before I went in to price a major tune-up. I was told it was in the mid 300's range. I took my vehicle in the next day. When it was time to pay, the invoice had mid 400's. I bought this to the service managers attention. He assured me that that was the correct price. I informed him of the price quoted to me the day before. After meeting with his manager he changed it to the quoted price. Last year I took my vehicle in to have the 60,000 major tune-up done. I was informed that my vehicle did not need a major tune-up until I reached 100,000 miles. Basically, the service manager just took my money for the 30,000 tune-up. Recently, I reminded him of that visit. Of course he denied being the service manager on record. He pulled out all the paperwork to prove he was not the culprit. I know who I dealt with. He also tried to tell me that it was not a major tune-up that was done, merely a service job.I thought about calling his manager and complaining but after reading these blogs, I felt it would be in vain. I will not be taking my car back to this dealership. I just don't trust them.

We purchased a 2008 Odyssey from CP Honda late last year and what an ordeal. First, we called several Honda dealerships look for a specific model and CP Honda was the lone dealership to have what we were looking for. They were a bit aggressive with contacting us before we stopped by, I recall three phones calls in one hour on a Sunday morning, should have taken it as a sign. Anyway, once we arrived there the salesperson was unsure they had the minivan, of course I was irate since we traveled some 30 miles to see the vehicle. After 15 minutes they were able to locate the minivan (another sign). It was dark when we checked the car out so I guess we missed a few things but did notice it was a little dirty for a new car. It did have some miles on which they couldn't say exactly how they got there (really, that was our third sign). We were also turning in our leased vehicle which they said they would take care of for us. In our original conversations the "implied" they would take care of our lease payments (two remained). Well, when all the finance was done we discovered that their taking care of it meant grounding it only. So whatever, they would have worked those payments into our new car anyway but really this was sign four, five and six. After using the car normally for a week a few things broke, yes I said broke. Nothing mechanical just the ashtray, one side with pin stripe and scratched console plate. We also noticed it was still pretty dirty on the inside and the oil percentage was already at 60. So wee took the car back and they actually implied that our children could have scratched up the console, you have to be kidding me! So now we are at sign 20 something right but we already purchased the car. They made the minor repairs and did an oil change but didn't understand the car was a bit dirty on the inside. So that very night I opened the lower glove box to put something away and sure enough it fell all the way open and I could not shut it. We now believe that the minivan was also in an accident with damage to the passenger side since there was no pinstripe on that side, the glove box broke and the ashtray couldn't slide in and out without breaking (it took them more than an hour to change the ashtray). The GM offered us a discount on service for our terrible experience with the financing and the small problems with the car. It has been more than a month since he made that offer yet we have no contract from him. And to make it the experience even more enjoyable Honda Finance contacted us to set up our inspection and termination for our leased vehicle, yes the one we grounded at CP Honda more than a month ago.
This minivan was our fourth Honda and I have loved all my Hondas but with this experience it may be my last Honda. You should not under any circumstances buy a new or slightly used car from this dealership, unless of course, you have more money than brains.

Although I have been a client at CP Honda and although I think their prices are outrageous (convenience speaks loudest), I called with a question at 8am one morning, and then again at 9am. No one returned my call. By 10am, another service center had taken my car in and by 10:30, they were done. I guess even in tough economic times, my business is not valued, nor is customer service a priority.

They quoted a price of $616 to change an alternator on a 1995 Honda Civic. I called around and found three other garages in the area that only charged $350 or less. It's clear that this is price-gouging, trying to take advantage of people.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. The first time I went to CP Honda was after I graduated college in '96. I bought a Civic from them that I asked was in an accident or not and was told, "Absolutely not!" I went to my mechanic, he popped the hood and said, "Uh, you do know this car has been repaired from an accident don't you?" I was pissed. I wrote letters to the BBB and the dealership and heard nothing back from anyone. Yet, the car served me well for several years. In March of '08 I was looking to buy a used car and ended up talking to a salesman from CP Honda ironically. He told me he understood why I had a bad taste in my mouth from my previous experience and that the place had undergone a complete sales/service overhaul to clean house and refurbish their reputation. So I went to see what they had and ended up purchasing a Pontiac from them PAID IN FULL. Not only did the check engine light come on two days after I bought the car, one of the rear seatbelts was actually broken, and one of my wheel weights was missing causing the car to roll roughly when I drove pass 60 mph, but after three visits they were unable to fix the engine problem. I had to go to King Pontiac in Gaithersburg (they're wonderful) who fixed it in one afternoon and called CP Honda and made them pay for it because CP was implying that I'd be responsible since I went somewhere else even though they were unable to find the problem to begin with although I had a bumper-to-bumper warranty. Later to my dismay, according to the paperwork that CP Honda actually gave me, I've discovered that the odometer on my vehicle seems to have been rolled back several thousand miles. Now I get the honor of dealing with these snakes to either give them the opportunity to make this situation right by me or take up legal matters since this is a federal offense. Do not do business with this organization if you can even call them one. Refurbished reputation? Not even close!

I got the same treatment some of the other people got on here got. Here's my story, i went in to purchase a new CR-V EX-L Navi which i got approved for a lease on. I traded in my Element which they did not give me near what i wanted. Anyways, i signed all the paper work up in finance and finally got out of there at around 10:00pm that evening. I had the car for about three weeks or so and then out of the blue i get a call from these guys saying i have to bring the car in. They told me i have to put more money down and that the bank could not do the lease. Why would do all the paper work(sign a contract) and push the vehicle on someone and then want it back? They told me they rolled the dice on the deal and it didn't go through( what a load of garbage). Anyways beware of these people they are only out to make money any ways necessary and lie to you.

I have been bringing my Accord there since 2004 and Andre Arnold has been such a pleasure to work with. I am very sad that he is no longer at Honda, but before he left he did introduce me to Kurth Smith. Kurth has done everything possible to keep me informed with what is going on with my vehicle and I feel that he is straight forward and honest. I will continue to bring my vehicle there as long as I recieve the level of service that Andre and Kurth have given me in the past four years.

I read these comments and have to wonder if this is the same dealership that I go to!!! I have been servicing my car at College Park Honda for almost 9 years now and have nothing but EXCELLENT service. Kurth and Sharon bend over backwards to take care of my car and even remember me by name as I walk in the door. This is the BEST place to go for service. They are now even open on Sundays for service...which I love!!

If you ever speak to Sharon at Honda College Park do not expect to receive any service at all. She is rude and could not be less interested in helping you. She told me I was not in the system and neither was the brand new car I bought from them. Then she suddenly realized my car was standing right infront of her all along. She will actually tell you that she could not be bothered less with you needing assistance. The serive center overall will not return calls and simply place you on hold for ages to then tell you that there is nothing they can assist you with. The sales people are great but the service could not be worse. Honda College Park should seriously try to protect their image and hire service people who actually like their job and want to do it.

We came to DC to visit family and our air conditioning died en route from Boston. Ironically my car had been serviced by a local (Boston-area) Acura/Honda dealership with a great reputation and they failed to pinpoint the problem, just saying the compressor was noisy. So, stuff happens.

Anyway, we went through hoops trying to get the A/C diagnosed and fixed closer to where my brothers lived. A nearby garage determined it was the compressor, and further investigation - with College Park Honda's help - proved that it was covered under our extended warranty.

Brennan at College Park Honda worked with us to get the car in, diagnosed, parts ordered, and car repaired. He also facilitated our getting a loaner car from nearby Enterprise (they were also great).

The level of personal customer service, quality of auto repair, and Brennan's follow up far exceeded our expectations, especially judging by what's written in reviews. All I can say is FIRST, don't trust a review from Anonymous. And don't always trust what you read. These guys rocked.

Thanks College Park Honda!

This dealership is only out to sell cars! Realizing that is their business, I incurred a horrible situation with them. If anyone would like to chat regarding the problem(s) they had, please let me know. In the meantime, report them to every consumer protection agency possible including the Better Business Bureau. I really feel bad for the sales people who are there to make an earnest living. My problem derives from "upper management" who will "appear" to be concerned. they will not return your calls unless you intend to purchase a vehicle from them or the call will benefit "their" behalf. Just know that there is someone there who is going to ruin their reputation because of his attitude towards consumers. Just remember that some of the employees are only doing what they are being told to do. Stay away from them unless you plan to obtain financing from your banking institution or they will be calling you, too back in two or three weeks to inform you they could not get your car financed either. Bottom line: Hondas are excellent cars, just don't purchase one from this dealership unless you have your own financing.

First of all , they will let you sign all the papers required for the finance
they let you take the vehicle with you saying that you got it for a special deal
2 weeks later they call you up and tell you that they tried hard to get the loan approved
But coouldnot getit from honda finance
they will ask you pay 7-9 % apr for the car that you have already signed the contract
If you ask them to take away the car
they will harass you legally saying that you have used the car (More miles than on the contract)
Believe me guys, I faced this situation with a new honda accord 2008
if you want to buy a honda better go for another dealer
and the Director/Boss man is a Scumbag
He does not have any courtesy towards customers
Please please be careful while going for college park honda
Dont fall for their words

Please go nowhere near this dealership - do not send them an email, do not give them your phone number. They will harass you and lie to you - ANYTHING, to get you in the door and then they will not let you leave until they think they have you. I did not buy a car from them but they continue to call me, telling me that they have "my" car and that I need to just do the paperwork so that their kids can eat. They told me that if I didn't buy the car that people would get fired and on and on and on. They are ruthless people and will lie and cheat to get you to buy a car and they will not give you a good deal but they will make you think you are getting the best deal ever - these people are swindlers. And they are mean - they have yelled at me, they have argued with me, they have harassed me. They will use guilt, lies - anything. Please stay away. They don't care about the customer, just the deal. And it seems no one can do anything to stop them from continuing these bad business practices.

I had made the unfortunate mistake of purchasing a vehicle from these clowns, a few months later I received a recall notice. I called the service shop and made an appointment to have the car serviced for the recall. When I arrived I gave the person behind the counter my keys and sat in the waiting room for about an hour, they came in and told me they didn't have the part in stock and didn't know when they would receive it. So I took off work and sat there for an hour for nothing. It took 2 more trips in to get this recall corrected! TRULY PATHETIC! Don't make the mistake I did, go somewhere else.

Do NOT buy any vehicle sold by these yahoos, even if this was the last car dealership on earth. I would rather walk than own another car purchased from this group of scumbags.

The price we received online from one of their employees (in response to an email request) was $1,000 below MSRP, so naturally, we drove the hour down to College Park to buy our new Civic. After "negotiating" with two complete morons, we arrived at a competitive price - only to have the second moron add their "mandatory" dealer-installed package costing $2,000 (which included wheel locks, paint "protection," and fabric "protection" - all of which I could have bought for $50). We talked them down to $1,000 and in the end, only paid MSRP (which was less than we would have paid anywhere else - we checked).

But these people were rude, immoral, and illegal (do plenty of research on the Consumer Protection Act and the Truth in Lending Act before you buy a car). We wrote a formal complaint to Honda (they did nothing, of course) and the dealership (who did not respond).

Please, spare yourself the resulting embarassment from being made into a fool and help put these scumbags out of business.

I bought a 2002 Honda Accord five years ago from this place.... the thing was built like a piece of total crap-- needed new engine/alternator/power steering pump (within four weeks of buying it brand new)... That was under warranty- thank goodness...
When I bought the car, I also purchased the "Free Lifetime Oil Change" which I was led to believe would entitle me to free oil changes for as long as I owned the car... Well, after five years of servicing my car.. they started to get bitchy when I didn't want to get my maintenance done at their outrageous rates (they also lied about things that my car did not need... saying that I needed them desperately at mucho $$$ I got second and third opinions that said otherwise)... So then when I rolled up last Friday to get an oil change- they said "sorry, your contract is only good when you get your service and suggested maintenance done here. You can pay $30.00 for your oil change, if you want." I'm pissed off that they magically changed the contract after five years.. but I'm glad that I no longer have to deal with these liars and cheats with bad attitudes. For simple maintenance I reccomend the Shell on Greenbelt Rd (near the mall)- they're professional and friendly there and won't try to pillage your wallet.

I'm writing this in regards to the service College Park Honda offers. It awful, degrading to the buyer, and by far, the worst experience I have received from a dealer. First, all CP Honda employees are unprofessional. They talk and act as though they've made thousands of sales, and they don't care for your business.

Here was my experience:
I went to CP Honda to find a Honda Accord for a specific price I was looking for. After an hour of negotiating with them, they said no deal and I left. The following day, I receive a call from them stating that I can get the Accord for the price I asked. Thus, I go to the dealership with my family, ready to buy the car.
When we arrive, they say the employee who called us only said we can "try" for that price, and that employees are not allowed to state a price over the phone. I argued semantics with them for a half-hour to no avail.
Then, as we are about to leave, they bring in another employee to talk to us who again says that he will try to make the deal. After a half-hour of negotiation with him, he still doesn't budge. Each time we got up to leave, another employee came to us. Even as we were walking out the door, an employee came running to us and told us he could offer us the price we were looking for. When we get back to the office, he starts us off at MSRP!!
I was in shock to see a dealership so willing to lie through their teeth to get people to stay. Remember, the entire time we talked to their employees, they didn't budge at all from the original MSRP! Essentially, they wanted to break us until we finally bought the car at their price. Let's just say it was our worst experience at a dealership.
Try O'Donnell Honda! They gave us the price we wanted (actually, even less! '04 Honda Accord LX for $18,400 out the door!), and they gave us the price over the phone, we went to the dealership and they had the paperwork ready to go. I signed a few papers, and was given the car without any hassle.

PROS: Superior B.S.
CONS: Lying to get you into their dealership

Similar to any big shop with no interest in servicing customers unlike they are there to buy a car, this honda shop is not that good. I went there to buy a small knob for a radiator and had to wait for a long time for some one to talk to me. Even after that, the hospitality was not that good. But, the guy in the parts sections is really knowledgable about the honda cars.

They got me into leasing a Honda Civic LX 2002 saying that I would be able to save a lot of money at the end. Several times I took my car in for a service I ended up with something wrong with my car. One time I noticed the radiator cap was missing after it got out from service. That hasn't been replaced until this very moment. Then one time my car's left front strut was leaking and they wanted to charge me when it was still under factory warranty. My car's mileage was very low and still is. Then I was told by one of the agents there that I am only allowed to return my car to College Park when the lease is terminated. This is not what American Honda told me when I gave them a call. I can return my car to any Honda dealer within the States. Also, God forbid if you ever make any complaints to them. They will either be rude at you, no respect towards their customers at all, and they will make you wait like forever. I would never ever go to this dealer again, neither would I recommend this dealer to anyone. I hate rude and dishonest people! In case they don't know, customers should be treated with respect, after all, it's OUR money that keep them in business!

i had my worst experience here at this honda deler. I bought my 2002 honda civic from them and at the time of the sale they told me they would give me free life time maintainance but everytime i would go there they would charge me and i told them that the service is free and they asked me to bring the contract and i dont have it with me. they make you wait long time and find something wrong with the car all the time you go there and ofcourse if you get it fixed there they will charge off the roof prices for repair and parts.

PROS: Buying
CONS: Service
