Great work!

by marty t.

I have been a customer of Gene's Evergreens for 20 years now because of the great work they do and the terrific customer service. Every year they come out and clean up our property and then do our mulching, pruning and our summer plantings. We see them come in the early morning and then watch the incredible transformation take place. They work hard and the end product is gorgeous. This is my third house in 20 years and they have done all my landscaping start to finish! I highly recommend them.

Poor quality

by Anonymous

I wish I had read the other reviews before spending $150 on a dogwood tree. It wilted within hours of planting and now two weeks later (mid June) has pretty much died. When I called to see what could be wrong or to get a replacement, I was told to just keep watering it and that they had no warranty on things they didn't plant.

Poor Service

by leslie t. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 11,190

I was on my way back home when I traced this store. They do have some good plant variety and gardening supplies but are priced very very high. Their service too is not too great. I was looking for a particular item (tulip feed) in the store and was not able to find it and so asked an attendent to get it for me. She went and never appeared again. I found this to be very annoying so I just left. Enter at your own risk.

Genes

by Diane W. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 2,693

Genes Evergreens in Fallston is conveniently located on Mountain Road. I have bought some annuals here and had no problems, but I have heard people complaining mostly about the perennials not living or looking bad only weeks later. Perhaps they force them to grow too quickly, I do not know why? The prices are fairly high to be replacing flowers all the time.

looks great but we've had problems

by MJ C. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 7,139

Genes is a nice garden center, right off the road with lots of perennials and trees to bring you in. But we have really had mixed luck with them. We purchased 15 Miss Kim Lilacs, and all died within a few months in a garden that was otherwise thriving. Still, we thought it was us, we purchased some azaleas. Again, all died.

A friend landscaping at the same time said she had the same problem with 20 leland cypresses purchased there dying. We purchased 6 dwarf fruit trees, and they are doing fine, although it has taken quite awhile for them to take off.

Landscape services, well, we had two truck loads of field stone and flag stone (not sure on the exact amount) that was quite nice at the store. The problem was, when they delivered them, they simply tipped the back of the truck up and dumped all this loose stone on my lawn. The flag stone broke and left lots of pieces (fun mowing later on), and we had to haul these large HEAVY rocks one by one into another location. It was not pleasant. We still haven't gotten around to laying all the stone, since we spent so many days sorting and moving it.
