Amazing daycare! Our daughter loves her teachers and loves going to school every day. And we feel confident at work, knowing she is being loved and cared for while we're away. If we had not found DBCC, I'm not sure what we would have done. We couldn't be happier!

As first time parents, we made the decision of going for an expensive daycare not knowing other ways of guarantying that we were getting the best for our son. It was a mistake. DBCC was disappointing at many levels. I am writing this review almost a year out now that I feel that I have acquired enough experience elsewhere to have an objective opinion. My son got hurt many times in this setting. For instance, left to climb steps in the big kid area when he just started crawling, he fell from the top of the stair on his head on the sharp corner of a trim that shouldn??t have be there for obvious safety reason. Over the course of 2 months I had to get him 4 times for these types of injury. Additionally, some teachers were giving me the silent treatment for unknown reasons and I had to leave for work not knowing if that behavior was going to affect the care given to my son. There was an obvious lack of communication between the teachers and the directing staff. Some of the ??rules? showed a total lack of common sense, impairing efficiency. But looking back, the issue that would make me encourage parents to go elsewhere is the fact that my son was beat up daily by a bully girl, older than the other children. She beat up all the other kids as well; I witnessed it countless times (I was coming to have lunch with my son a lot and had a good relationship with his teacher so was never rushing out of DBCC after pick up and drop offs). I tried to talk to the teachers and the staff, but I was made to feel uncomfortable and awkward. I was told numerous times that it was ??normal.? It is not normal for the teachers to watch an older child purposely run full speed into another child (not mine) that is just learning to walk, only to see the younger child hit his head on a chair, that shouldn??t be there in the first place. The parents of the little girl saw it happening on multiple occasions and ignored it. I could go on with numerous examples of that sad situation. I now know that there was nothing normal about it and I am happy that we had the summer to correct the consequence of this on our son??s behavior and concept of socialization. Thankfully we found a place half as expensive with high quality care.

My son was at this center for almost 2 years. It wasn't a horrible place. The teachers were decent, the office staff was acceptable; however, the facility was terrible. It was always dirty and dark. The playground was less than impressive and the staff, in general, did not show any motivation to improve the conditions. The security is lacking, especially for a downtown center. We switched to a nearby center and have never looked back. I truly believe that the environment is just as important as the "ratios" or "play based philosophy". Tour and look beyond the idea that they are selling you (for a considerable amount of money more than nearby centers)

Our family has had a fabulous experience with DBCC. Our two kids have really thrived here. It is a very safe, caring, exciting environment, and the staff are so patient and kind to the children. The playground is wonderful, and there is an indoor play area so that even on rainy cold days the kids have a place to run around. The classrooms are well-equipped with age appropriate, challenging, equipment for children to explore and learn from. The pre-k class is wonderful-- my friends cannot believe that I get a daily email from the lead teacher with photos highlighting what the kids have done and learned and talked about during the day, in addition to the field trips the kids take. I have great respect for the teachers there, and they have given me great suggestions to try out at home. I can't say enough about DBCC-- it is a really wonderful learning environment and I know my kids are in wonderful caring hands while they are there!

DBCC does an amazing job caring for young children. The staff are educated, warm, and caring. The play-based curriculum is well aligned with current research and educational standards. My daughters have and continue to grow beautifully there. I am not surprised that several local publications have featured the center in their "Best of" issues. This is a well-deserved honor.

My kids were at DBCC for 4-5 years each. They are in elementary school now, but I know they are the happy, bright children they are today because of their experience at DBCC. The teachers are great - full of love, wisdom, and wit - and the play-based approach to learning was wonderful. We loved the other families we met at DBCC. Our kids' best friends are still the friends they met there.

Two of my children went to DBCC for a total of seven years. If you're looking for great quality play-based child care, I highly recommend DBCC. Their teachers are loving and highly experienced. Their curriculum is child-centered and developmentally appropriate. And, their commitment to children and families surpasses every school I've had contact with. My kids didn't want to leave at the end of the day and still talk about their great memories from DBCC.

The downtown Baltimore Child Care Incorporated facility is one of the top notch centers in the state. The teachers are very attentive to the needs of the students, and genuinely attempt to do the best to get the children to learn the "traditional" curriculum as well as achieve the highest standards while doing so. My only complaint is that the school is located downtown, and traffic getting to the school can be quite challenging to navigate. Other than that, I would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a good school for their child.

My son was at DBCC beginning at 14 months and ending this summer as he enters kindergarten. I cannot express how impressed I was with the caring and love shown by the teachers and staff over these four years. He learned how to problem solve with his classmates and be creative. I would recommend DBCC to anyone seeking excellent childcare.

PROS: Well trained, loving staff. Good teacher ratios. Play-based. Age approp
CONS: Pricey, but worth it.

Sending my children to DBCC is one of the best decisions I've ever made. Both my five year-old and my two year-old have been there since they were four months old. DBCC has become their home away from home. The teachers and staff are nurturing of both children and parents and the curriculum is top-notch. Children learn self-confidence and social skills along with their math and ABCs, and the program is designed to teach kids to love to learn and explore. My kids sometimes don't want to leave at the end of the day. I think that says it all.

PROS: Child-centered learning in a nurturing environment
CONS: None

My older son was at DBCC University Center from age four months to five years, and my younger son has been there from four months to (currently) 3 1/2. They have both thrived! The committed, caring, well-trained staff -- who have been there for years, as opposed to the revolving-door situation at a lot of centers -- are the heart of the program. The philosophy is great - very child-centered. The teacher-child ratio far exceeds the licensing minimum that most places do. (Example: 9 infants in the infant room with 4 full-time caregivers plus a part-time housekeeper just for that room (to keep everything clean). Nationally accredited by NAEYC and also voted "Best of Baltimore". They get grants to pay for ongoing professional development, so the teachers are up-to-date with the most recent thinking about child development and early childhood education. Great playground, fantastic classroom spaces, regular visiting artists for interactive children's concerts and plays... I can't say enough good things about it -- you owe it to yourself and your child to visit. :-)

PROS: Teachers, philosophy, committed families, facility.
CONS: None!

I felt a little uncomfotable leaving my child there for the first time.
However the next day I went back and spoke with a teacher and I felt a lot better and she was very open to hearing my concerns.

With a philosophy that puts the child first and encourages creativity and independent thinking, this facility is beyond exceptional. Teachers are highly qualified ant the center's student to teacher ratio is better than the state laws require.
