Amazing! One of my favorite places to eat in Frederick. The food and staff are always great! If you are ordering from the bar they always have great drink specials too!

Because of time and distance hadn't been to Monocacy Crossing in a long, long time (like 5 and a half years I think) and that was a quick in and out lunch!

Hit this place on a whim Labor Day Saturday evening.

Well...the visit was a big big hit!. The Popcorn Shrimp with Corn relish... The shrimp were a fried a little too brown which gave them a somewhat oily taste but the underside was perfect. Breaking off the overdone portion I was able to salvage them without having to send them back (I always hate to do that except in the worst of cases).

Salad Caesar Salad and Parmesan Cheese - was ok... wished I had asked if they had some Maytag Blue Cheese in the house. We love that flavor profile.

But the ABSOLUTE Stars of the show were the ENTREES.
The Garlic and Herb topped Beef Medallions wrapped with Applewood Bacon ... to use the well worn (if you watch Rachel Zoe) I DieD!!! That was the BOMB Perfectly cooked - tender (of course it was filet dummy!!) but ooooh that scrumptious topping and bacon Yummmm! 3 Michelin Tires

Crispy Buttermilk Chicken Breast with Tasso Ham Gravy I could have eaten a bowl of that GRAVY. IT was like TASSO HAM soup! Thick unctuous, fattening (I'm sure!) but ohhh so satisfying! 4 Michelin tires.

Veal Chops with Lemon Caper Sauce with Risotto.
OK here it is... the only way this could have been better is if I had had an igloo cooler to fill up with this dish and take it ALL home for breakfast. A full set of 4 Michelin Tires and a spare in the trunk on this dish. Yumm-O

Dessert: The COCONUT CAKE - THE BOMB!
This MOTHER OF SOMEONES MOTHERS CAKLE WAS ANOTHER HIT IN THE STICKS

One warning though...

get there while there's still a seat!

I have eaten a Monocacy Crossing a handful of times in the past and always leave thinking to myself "why don't we come here more often?". The food is absolutely delicious (try to save room for some dessert if you can!), they have a great wine list (and a full bar) and there is something about the location and atmosphere that makes it feel off of the beaten path and away from the noise, lights and traffic that I get so tired of. The staff is professional and courteous and service has always been outstanding. This is a great place to visit if you are looking for a quiet, quaint dining location (maybe even with a bit of romantic flair).

We have eaten here several times for special occasions. The food is absolutely scrumptious and the wine list is extensive. They even have special wine dinners which we are hoping to try out. The atmosphere is quaint and the servie is impeccable, although the tables are rather close together. Leave your kids at home as there is no children's menu.
