The full name of this business is "Frank's Produce AND GREENHOUSES". They offer plants (described below) in addition to produce. I'm not much of a gardener, so I just go there for the food. ;o)

In a semi-enclosed stand about the size of a generous garage, they have a changing selection of fruits and vegetables that are as local as possible for the season. Mainstays include garlic, several varieties of potatoes and onions, and a large selection of McCutcheon's products. Seasonal products include corn, tomatoes, melons, peaches, cherries, peppers, and cold-weather greens.

For the holidays, they offer citrus fruit by the case, loose or prebagged whole nuts, and various holiday greenery (wreaths, etc.).

You probably won't find any oddball gourmet goodies here, but you will find good, basic food at a better price than the supermarkets... and since the selection is as local as possible (sometimes even from Frank's own farm), you can feel good knowing that a minimum of transportation/energy was involved in getting these goods to you. Plus Frank's is a local business... money you spend there stays in your neighborhood.

Flower selection includes starter plants (both edible and decorative), hanging baskets, occasional flowers (Mother's Day, etc.), and more mature landscaping plants.

Frank's is open from some time in April (varies) til Dec. 24. Stop in during the week before Christmas for closeout bargains!

PROS: fresh, local, lower cost than big stores
CONS: may not have your item right when you need it
