From my experience buying an engagement ring and two wedding bands, the headsets were used to call an associate to help me. The associate that assisted me did not wear a headset. I might add that those wearing the headset only asked me if I needed assistance, they would be happy to call someone over. Everyone was very eager to greet me and help me. Once we started looking, our associate showed us everything that we wanted to see. Once we started looking, her experience really showed. We were a couple that only "thought" we knew what we wanted. She offered us a drink and we had a seat. about 5-10 minutes later she came back with several different combinations based on not only the types of rings we were looking at but also our BUDGET! My bride to be tried several rings and through alot of patience, we found a ring and band that my fiance loved! We were never sold on anything we didn't want and we stayed within our budget. To say the least, we were a fairly difficult couple. She was very polite every step of the way and her knowledge and proffessionalism really showed. We are even able to get the diamond mounted and the ring sized in time for Thanksgiving. Thank you Smyth.

My sister told me years ago she did not like Smyth's because of the way she was treated when she called to return a diamond ring that was in her repair envelope along with her own ring. She was not thanked or even treated with common courtesy. She refused to ever go there again. I had a recent experience. Although the man who greeted me was very polite, the person who waited on me to talk about replacing a lost diamond was cocky. The insurance person told me they were not selling the diamond to me but to the insurance company when I asked her if she could give me some idea of the replacement cost. I thought she was rude!. I will not have my diamond replaced by Smyth's and should have listened to my sister.

I just read the review by someone who claims to know what they're talking about when it comes to Smyth Jewelers in Timonium. I've not only shopped there for many years for only the highest quality merchandise, but I also worked there. This is the most "Honest" merchant you will come across in this day and age. I promise you that. Their motto is "Never say No to a customer". They go above and beyond in their quest to please their customers. They are the best when it comes to customer service. This is evident based on the number of loyal patrons they have. The wires you see in some of the employees' ears are not there to "Scam" anyone. They're not hiding their use of this equipment. They are used by the managers to see to it that every customer gets attention as they need it. They do not push their sales people on anyone, but they are ready to summon help whenever and where ever it is needed. Whoever wrote about the "Scam" should do more research, and maybe by someone more reliable than "someone who used to work there and probably has an ax to grind!" Sorry, I do take offense.

I saw where a previous customer claimed someone he knew mentioned there was scams at Smyth's to get you to buy. That they use their radio's . Well I used to work there and Yes I had one of those so called radios. They were mainly used to give wonderful customer service. Yes that is right NOT for SCAMS!! We Had people up stairs working ,others working in the warehouse, others working in accounting, all over that store. Us managers who had those walkie talkie radios were able to call for instant help when we saw that all our employees on the floor were busy with customers. We wanted to make sure we had some employees ready to help new customers coming into the store. We believed giving our customers the instant help they deserved. When I first started working there I remember that we found out that we owed a customer $5.00. I remember making sure that customer got their $5.00 . The Smyth were always and are the Most Honest in business. I always believed that working and there and still do today. I worked there for 9 years I saw what goes on there. They are honest you don't have to worry and they will always stand behind you and their merchandise. Have fun there, YOU WILL!!!

I have been shopping at Smyth's as long as I can remember--and that's a long time! They sell quality merchandise at competitive prices. The service is outstanding, professional yet not stuffy. From Vera Bradley to fine china, crystal, jewelry and gifts---they have it. They replace watch batteries free with no wait in line, (I did purchase my watch there but they never ask), they have successfully repaired any jewelry I've taken them, and an added delight---they have the most wonderful warm cookies at the service counter! Thank you, Smyth's, for being there.

Have you ever been to Smyth Jewelers? I had such an unbelievable experience when I went there for the first time on Saturday that I feel compelled to share it. I was greeted as soon as I walked in the door and a gorgeous girl asked me if I needed anything. She got on her radio (and here I thought it was for security purposes...) and all of a sudden I had a drink and a great salesperson to help me find the watch of my dreams. Kevin gave me a tour of the store and actually took the time to get to know me before we even started shopping. His expertise and professionalism were unparalleled - I've never learned so much from a trip to a jewelry store. And finally, I was even more impressed when he called to follow up with me later in the week - and remembered to ask about the golf tournament I had mentioned. I have never experienced service or salesmanship of this caliber. I highly recommend a trip to Smyth Jewelers...

I used to be a good customer (I bought an engagement ring, anniversary and had repairs done) until i realized there scams a friend of mine that worked there told me about. I don't want to rant but it's only fare that other people out there learn the truth. Has anyone else noticed that they wear ear pieces and microphones? This is because (according to a previous employee and friend) that if a sale is not made by the person helping you in a certain amount of time then someone else listening in to the sale (who knows all the details from listening in) steps in to help "close the deal", depending on how much you want to spend (aka depending on if your worth the trouble or not)... I was very surprised to find this out and didn't believe it at first but before i stopped going there I tested it out myself and found it to be true. If the price is right it never fails... they care nothing about your needs only making money just like a mall store which is basically what they are now. My friend told me they do it to increase sales and turnaround especially at xmas so they can make more money. They basically don't care what you want they just want to close the deal for as much money as they can as soon as possible. I'm very disappointed as a former avid customer to find someone i thought i trusted to stoop so low. I do not recommend anyone going there. I have found personally since i stopped going to smyth that small family owned local business don't lie to your face and act like your friend while treating you like a number behind their smile. Now you know so don't say you weren't warned

This is a big store with a bunch of different departments and I am always a little overwhelmed when I walk in. But every time I've been there I've had very attentive service. I've gotten rings resized, a watch repaired, and I've bought flatware there. Every experience has been very pleasant. I highly recommend Smyth Jewelers.

My husband and I shopped at Smyth for our wedding rings. We found exactly what we wanted, and the staff person helping us was so patient as we took our time choosing rings. Everyone we talked to there was very knowledgable about jewelry. There was a mixup with my order (my ring was accidentally ordered in yellow gold, instead of white gold), and they were very apologetic, and quickly ordered the correct ring. All around, it was a great experience.

Albert S Smyth Jewelers has a wonderful reputation for high quality merchandise. Not only do they sell jewelry, but you can actually register for all of your fine china and silver for your wedding at lower prices than the same exact patterns in department stores. They wrap all gifts and offer shipping to make it easier for your guests.

Smyth's is a phenomenal store with phenomenal customer service. First, they carry a huge selection of gifts, from Waterford and all the best crystal and china, to sports collectibles, Vera Bradley, and much more. But the best part is their jewelry. You won't find better quality diamonds anywhere, let alone at a better price. These are not you mall-jewelry-store diamonds. They are SOOO much better. You must go here if you're shopping for jewelry.

We have had such possitive buying experiences in this store, I can't imagine shopping any where else! The customer service is just outstanding! They treat you equally well if you walk in wearing sweatpants or business attire. In addition to jewelry, they carry high end collectible (limoges and lladro) china, crystal, and silverware. The service department is great and can repair and clean all sorts of thing. I love going there just to get my ring cleaned, which they do for free while I wait!

I'm so glad they finally moved locations!! This new location is huge. Their previous location had been so jam packed, you could not get around and see all of the merchandise. I could spend hours in this location looking at all of the beautiful jewelry especially the great estate jewelry collection.

It doesn't get much better than this. Great selection, great service, huge showroom. For jewelry, these people know thier stuff better than anyone around. Great spot for corporate gifts as well - waterford crystal, etc.
