Hi! I've been living at Lakeside North for about 6 months now and I can confidently say that I've never seen 1 bug or 1 rodent in my apartment ever. I believe the person who previously posted must be angry for reasons unrelated to the apartment complex, because my experience there has been a positive one and I haven't heard any of my neighbors complaining of rodents or bugs. The community is diverse - grad students and families - people from varying nationalities and backgrounds. Everyone is very friendly and I feel safe living there (especially with the Greenbelt police station next door). The grounds are well-kept, the office staff is friendly and accommodating, and community activities are held regularly. The UMD shuttle is very close. And they allow pets. The buildings were built in the 70's, but the apartments are a good size though sometimes I wish they were newer and the kitchen were bigger. Overall I'd recommend this complex to a friend. If you have questions or comments, feel free to post them here. I don't mind answering them (honestly!).

This community and the bunch of idiots that run it are a waste of your time and money. They treat you like second class citizens, want to run all of the minorities out and bring white people in. What they really need to worry about is kicking all of the mice and bed bugs they have out first. SUPER OVERPRICED!

I lived at Lakeside North while an undergrad at the University of Maryland in College Park. The location is decent (there's a Giant and other stores close by), the rent prices are good for the area, apartment complex feels relatively safe, and the staff are friendly/helpful. It feels like more of a grad student/family environment (most of the residents like quiet, although a few are annoyingly loud all the time, people complain to the office if you have parties, play loud music, etc.), which may be good or bad depending on what you're looking for. It's probably not the kind of place you'd want to live if you like to be super-social and throw parties, but it's nice if you want somewhere quiet and relaxed. Also, apartments are split up among several buildings, so there's no main lobby area (office is seperate).

PROS: Laundry facilities in buildings (not in individual units though), gas/water is included, nice grassy picnic/BBQ area in courtyard, area feels safe, playground for kids, reserved parking (one car per unit), visitor spots available, garbage rooms with pickup included, close proximity to UMD and NASA Goddard, pets allowed, rent is fairly cheap for the area, apartments are relatively large for the price, grocery store and some restaurants nearby, good if you're looking for a quiet, non-party, family environment with fairly cheap rent

CONS: Sound travels easily, some other residents complain if you're not super-quiet 24/7 (i.e. complaints that we "walked too loud" even at noon), occasional roach problems, option for hardwood floors BUT lease agreement states that you MUST get the apartment carpeted within a certain number of days after moving in (Lakeside will install for free, but then your rent goes up to "carpet" rates), not a "happening" place--no parties and residents mostly keep to themselves, location is ok and kind-of boring (not a ritzy or exciting area), apartments are somewhat old and not super-pretty (although they look ok), office closes evenings/weekends so don't forget your key, pay for internet and cable TV yourself

This apartment is very good place to live in. i like the locality, the reception and immediate attending to all the needs of the residents. they are real dedicative. lots of families live in this community as well which is added advantage for families. the playground for children is amazing and new.
