Everyone is right on the money as to the doctors attitude or the lack of it. I don't like him and my dog certainly does not either. He does not talk and with my dog with Addison's he does not even request a blood test to find out what her level are.

We took our pets to Dr. McClellan for years, and were very happy with his excellent professional service. We were so dissappointed to discover he retired and the practice was bought by Dr. Kellogg. This was our experience...We gave Dr. Kellogg a few chances but, quickly decided no more. When he first took over the practice (years ago),I took my pets to his office for vaccine updates. I guess at this time, he was still giving the shots in the office without taking them to the back room. I don't know what made me look at the shot bottles but, I was horrified to discover that the vaccines were expired. I questioned the staff about the expired dates on the bottles, and was told by a very high strung staff person with long brown hair that it didn't matter! According to them, the vaccines were still good. The staff was very defensive when questioned. I was completely disgusted, and should have reported the vet practice but, I didn't. I walked away stunned and confused. Of course, I haven't gone back. The Dr.'s demeaner is cold. Not any comfort in this office.

Sorry, but I have to disagree with every review on here. We've been with McClellan for approx. 3 years and never had a bad experience. I think Dr. Kellogg's personality is less "touch feely" and more matter of fact, which might bother some people, but the techs are full of love for the animals, always rubbing our dogs' chests to keep them happy and calm. The prices are the lowest in Frederick (we did research before we chose a vet since our budget's tight). Just recently, Dr. Kellogg and one of the techs went out of their way to come to our home to euthanize our 13 year old dog. He always got so nervous going to the office and we didn't want him to suffer any more than necessary. They charged us the same as they would have for us to come to the office, allowing our dog to lay in his favorite spot on the couch while he was put down and they were clearly choked up. I am forever indebted for their kindness and compassion.

Worst Vet Service Ever! The staff was nice well at least the morning girl was but because of the comments I got a quote for a basic exam and grooming (bath and shave) before we went. The lady in the morning was sweet, she quoted me the prices the day before over the phone, the lady in the after noon was greedy and upped everything and the groomer took the dog and left with out a word. When we picked up my baby he was bald as can be, they charged us 50 over the quoted price, charged us twice for a bath and for an 8lb animal that get's groomed every month his hair wasn't even an inch long when we went in and we had to pay for a long haired shave. The directions we gave the vet tech on the shave were not to go that low but they did... the poor thing doesn't even look like his breed and even worse he hasn't stopped itching since we brought him home... They did a barbershop cut at NYC Salon prices. Not only that we never heard a word about the results of his exam... never met the vet, and the staff contradict each other. Worst Vet Services ever, their greed will keep us from returning. From now on I'd rather drive the 4 hours to PA to my old Vet once a year and take him to Pet Smart for grooming than put my poor dog through this again.

Yes it was so sadd to see Dr. McClellan leave. In fact it was a surprise to me and while I was trying to give Dr. Kellogg a chance - I'm simply at the end of my rope. He frequently performs work without asking and this is on my 13 year old dog....she puts her at a higher risk than needed and does not give me the option. He is rough with her when cutting her nails and has now started taking her in the back to give vaccinations, take blood, etc. I am very uncomfortable with Dr. Kellogg. The rest of the staff is nice but it doesn't make up for Dr. Kellogg's abrupt and seemingly greedy, unkind "bedside manner"

I have taken my dog here 3 times and have found the vet to be awful. He takes my dog out of sight to give him vaccations which makes me uncomfortable, I am not sure why he does this. Every vet I have been to always gives the injections infront of me. I also find him extremely expensive and doesn't cure ANYTHING and doesn't tell you ANYTHING.

I have taking my animals here for years. Dr. James McClellan and his staff were always highly spoken of and for good reason. Their care and compassion for the patients was evident every visit. Since the new dr. , Dr. Fruit Loops I believe, has been there the service has completely sunk. While most of the staff remains the same and just as compassionate, the new dr. is no more than a common thief. He took my dog to the back area for an injection and returned with almost $500 of unauthorized tests. I will never return to this vet.
