Riverside is a breath of fresh air in a quiet part of town. The outside is peaceful and inviting, the inside is warm and comforting, the food and service complete for a great experience. The food was presented artfully in fashion, while tasting equally fantastic, and unique. The servers embraced their duties with graciousness and knowledge. A highly recommended retreat from the mainstream.

Pros: locally owned and operated

Cons: ???

We've dined here for lunch on several occassions and the lunch selections have been fine. With their limited evening hours we opted for a family gathering. The five of us arrived on time for our Friday night reservation.

While not full, the restaurant was fairly busy. After promply handing us the menus, our server disappeared for close to 10 minutes before taking our drink orders, not a big deal but proved to be the norm with her for the balance of our dining experience.

The smoked salmon was good and so is the home made bread. Mom's brie had nothing on it whatsoever, a little odd as brie is fairly easy to dress up. All that was on the plate was a round of cheese, nothing else.

After finishing a nice Quo Chardonnay, we opted for a second bottle which sat on the bar for another 10 minutes. I finally waved to the bartender/owner who brought over the bottle. The bottle cooler came when the second bottle was almost finished!

The entree's were odd and rather boring. Two us had crabmeat cantollini, very dry, tasteless and not enough sauce. My Brother-in-Law had duck that he said didn't even taste like duck! His green beans were overcooked and mushy. My wife opted for a goat cheese and beet salad served with a dressing that detracted rather then enhanced the dish.

Our server never checked with us once while we ate the entree's, obviously not interested in our dining experience.

With mediocre food and service that was poor, it might be a bit before we try Riverside again.

As a frequent visitor and fellow restaurant owner, I always find Riverside to have great service and selection. They have expanded their seating area recently and even started serving dinners, which always have unique items. They even extended their outdoor patio so that I can enjoy my dinner on a summer night with a glass of wine outdoors! I know that they have their own vineyard but I'm not sure if they have their own wine bottled, as I have yet to see any.

I would most definitely recommend a journey to this restaurant, but they're closed Mondays so make sure it's on a different day of the week!

I went to the Riverside Farm Market with a group of 8. We were told it would be at least 30 minutes due to the fact it was Colby weekend. We were fine waiting. After about 40 minutes many parties who arrived after us were being seated. We asked how it was decided who was being seated. We were told they were waiting for two tables to open up side by side. I said that could take forever as I didn't think two tables would open up beside each other if they continually seated people when one opened. We said we'd take two tables for 4 instead. The owner then came over and said there would be a wait no matter where we went this weekend and we could leave if we didn't like it. ??? I said we had already settled the issue and didn't know why he was being rude. He told us "There's one every Colby weekend and I guess you're it" ??? I don't know what this guy's problem was, but we weren't the problem. I would not give this guy any business. He is mean and rude!

Given up on finding quality food in central Maine? Don't lose hope! This small, tucked away market sells Baor's Head meats, quality local produce and a nice selection of wines. Their frozen turkey pot pies are out of this world! I only wish it were bigger, and had a much larger selection. Also, it would make my day if they would carry premium salsas.

PROS: Great food, good wine selection
CONS: Not enough variety, a little on the pricey side for baked goods
