My family and I stopped by the Humane Society last week. We had two active 6 year old boys with us. I found the staff, no matter how young or old they were to be very friendly, caring and PATIENT with us as we visited with several kittens to find the right fit for our family. It was very busy that day and we had to wait for awhile before we could get into the visitors room. During that time the staff member who was helping us engaged us in conversation and made us feel welcome. We are picking up our beautiful kitten today and while we are there we are planning to adopt another. I was very pleased with my adoption experience and found the staff young but very caring, willing to answer all of our questions and spend as much time with us as we needed.

If you plan on going here to adopt an animal, do not let them know you have children under the age of 10. We were interested in a beautiful German Shepherd dog and actually called about it and they said that she was still there and had no stipulations in adopting her. We were very suprised because usually they tell you that if you have kids under the age of 10 the only dog they will let you adopt is a puppy..Well first off I am not about to dish out over$200 for a puppy at the Humane society. Well anyhow we got to the Humane Society and I guess they must have saw my four year old daughter and they quickly stated that this dog had already been adopted and that she coldn't of went with us anyhow because of my daughters age. They went on to show us the puppy behind the counter that we could adopt while he was peeingon the floor.. I was like NO thank you...My husband of course was livid because we drove all the way there....

I am completely and udderly APALLED with the staff at theBangor Humane Society. They are a bunch of young female snots who think they are know-it-alls. I am under the impression that they judge people as soon as they walk through the door. Whenever you ask questions about a particular "potential pet" they have nothing to say in response. They act like little kids are demons towards animals!!! My kids would never hurt an animal. The staff has a much higher regard for animals , then they do for humans. They NEED to start concerning themselves about the people too! The people's needs matter too! In order to have a good placement, you THE STAFF need to concern youself with the adopters needs TOO

PROS: A pro would be if you fired all staff, and got older& knowledgeable staff
CONS: everything about the staff!
