The new owner does everything right. Really great food serve by a friendly staff. They also own the Yum Mee in Bath near the bridge.
They serve very fresh food prepared the way you like it.

I ate at Jan Mee only once, but that was enough. I had just moved to Maine from New Jersey and wanted some Chinese food. I got the chicken with garlic sauce to go. It was awful. It was salty and bland- worse than any Chinese food I've ever had.

Make no mistake, I've lived in NYC and Boston for 20 years. First of all, the prices are 25% highter than ANY CHINESE RESTAURANT I've enjoyed in NYC or Boston. My office in Boston was on South Street, a block away from Chinatown, so we enjoyed many fine meals.

The food was absolutely awful. Chicken wings overcooked to the point of rubber. We ordered the Kung Pao chicken and some others. FIRST TIME I'D EVER HEARD that the chinese grew carrots, never mind put broccoli in Kung Pao. They don't in ANY OTHER Restaurant (we're talking at leat 50 I've enjoyed in NYC, Boston San Fran).

I would never order from this place again. We rec'd an order which was uneatable, and we threw the reorder of the Kung Pao out.

Hey, if you want to overpay for bad Chinese food, this is the place!
