I use the Lompoc as my home base when I visit Bar Harbor. There's enough variety in the menu to keep me coming back- and the food's excellent. I enjoy the outdoor patio area, which is overclouded by large trees and quite pleasant. They have live music every weekend and I've seen a variety of talented players, everything from folk to jazz to hard core funk. I track with them on Facebook and they had an accordion player recently. Imagine that. Anyway, I heartily endorse the Lompoc and everything it stands for.

Lompoc's is fun. It just has a great vibe to it. A friendly neighborhood bar appeal. It's comfortable. The beer garden is my desired spot to congregate here and watch a game of bocce ball. The waiters and waitresses are very friendly and don't seem to want to leave themselves. They get off shift and sit and have a chat and a drink. A must pop in in Bar Harbor.

From Boston’s Hidden Restaurants “...sometimes we come across a place so interesting that we feel like we have to include it... And so it goes with the Lompoc Cafe, a laid-back, friendly little restaurant...that is unique even for this quirky downeast Maine town.

The Lompoc has made Bar Harbor its home since the late 1980s...The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor dining (as well as a pub area), and it also has a bocce court where patrons can spend their time either before or after dinner. The outdoor dining area is very pleasing... If you like music, the Lompoc is a good place to go, as bands and musicians of nearly every genre can be found here on Friday and Saturday nights.

The menu at the Lompoc Cafe includes organic, locally-grown products and is wonderfully varied. ... Finally, if you like good beer, the selection at the Lompoc is excellent.

From the healthy (and tasty) food to the friendly servers to the outdoor dining and bocce, the Lompoc Cafe has a lot going for it.”

We're slightly off the beaten trail, two blocks from Main Street. Stop by and enjoy.

More about Lompoc Cafe & Brew Pub

Lompoc Café has been part of the Bar Harbor scene for 22 years. Originally a brew pub, we’re a favorite for travelers and locals who want delicious food, a friendly bar, a beautiful setting, and live music. The dinner menus feature an eclectic array of classic and more daring dishes. Most of our ingredients are locally produced- we support Freedom Farm, Beech Hill Farm, and Mandala Farm. Our staff is attentive and knows Mt. Desert Island- want to know what park trails that will match your interests? Or where to rent a bike? Ask us. The Lompoc pub was voted the #2 local bar in America by Esquire. Yes, we have a broad selection of local, domestic, and imported beer, wine, and spirits. But it’s the laid back, friendly atmosphere that makes the Lompoc so popular. The patio is a special place. Under Norway Maple trees, patrons relax, perhaps enjoying a meal or a beer or a cup of coffee. Or bocce; we have the only bocce court in these parts. Bocce is an easy, engaging game that rewards skill and luck. We have live music every weekend, featuring everything from folk to rock to jazz. We’ve had a steady stream of critical praise but we want you to come by and enjoy.
