One of the best meals I've had in Maine
by Mark B.
My wife and I moved to Maine almost 20 years ago, and we love it hear. But after having grown up in NYC, one of the things we do miss about the city is the quality and diversity of restaurants in Maine. Most vary from OK to adequate. We recently eat at the Freedom Cafe and the food was out of this world. Fresh made everything, friendly service and the owner is right there serving, talking to diners and making it a very pleasant experience in every respect. If you are in Waterville, go to the Freedom Cafe and treat yourself to a great meal at a reasonable price.

Food well worth the wait
by Anonymous
The Freedom Cafe has it all: atmosphere, friendly service, and exquisite, real soul food. Mouth watering smells and genuine smiles greet you at the door, so the usual wait for a seat during busy times is hardly a burden. Anyone who wants real barbecue, delicious jambalaya, heavenly cornbread, luscious desserts, just go once. The hours are limited, and the menu changes each time you visit, and only features a few items, but one price gets you soup to nuts, and every part of the meal is top-notch. The Mother's Day Brunch was downright decadent. One thing to know, though: if you are a Southerner who pines for real "Sweet Tea", you can get it here. If you are not a Southerner, be aware that the sweetened iced tea is REALLY sweet, and the lemonade is terrific without the toothache.
For my money, the very best cuisine and atmosphere in Waterville.
