I agree totally with the review by Brunswick B. We were there with a group and were told we could not sit until everyone had arrived. (We were waiting on two people). There were nine of us for Pete's sake and at the time the place was practically empty. We felt rushed and like second class citizens. The food was mediocre (kind of a yupified mex) and the margarita was not anything special. My guess is that they feel they have such a base following of fairly wealthy cliental they really don't need any extra business. Well they certainly will not be getting ours again.

Really Good, Great Blackboard specials, A little pricey but worth it. You are getting great mexican using local foods.

Great Margeratas, Great music played while you eat too.

So I read in GQ Mag (AUG 08) that El Camino had the best margarita in the country... so I thought I'd see if it was true. Well, it wasn't. In fact it wasn't good at all. The margarita tasted like straight Tequila (not really a bad thing for me), but being the best margarita in the country it should have had a nice mix to it. I'm assuming the person from GQ that taste tested it was already wasted when he tried it.
Also the food was nothing to shot about either. I'd rather eat a Taco Bell. Maybe I'm being a little hard on this place? But, I grew up in Texas, and this place was wouldn't have even been open for a week down there, much less made it onto GQ's "BEST LIST".
just my opinion, but this is not real Mexican.

We had a Friday dinner at El Camino, it was packed and the funky decor and delicious margaritas kept us happy until we were seated. They have a range of Mexican food which is all home made, using ingredients which come from local and organic farms. Practitioners of the slow food movement, the menu changes daily according to what is seasonally at its best. We started with homemade taco chips and guacamole and moved to delicious wild mushroom tacos and a seafood burrito which was to die for. El Camino is on a back street just 2 blocks from Brunswick center. It is casual and the price is amazingly low for the quality of food you get. The service was friendly and attentive. We will definitely go there again when in Brunswick.
