A week ago we took our cat to be seen. She was very sick with anemia and very low body temp. The vet, in a very, very hard sell tried to get us to put her down, saying that the cost would better be spent filling our oil barrrel this winter. It cost 91 dollars to walk in and would have been over 400 if they treated her overnight, up to 822 if they gave her a transfusion, which they said she needed. My girlfirend almost was swayed. Vets are authority figures and they have the power of an expert, which can very much influence a person, even about such a big choice.

I didn't care for the options...pay a great sum on the spot (they won't bill or do installment payments) or kill the beloved pet. Mercenary! A price tag on a life. I refused to have the dear animal killed and we took her home.

The cat lived the night and in the morning I took her to our own vet. She was nursed back by caring folks in the office we would have taken her to if it had not been a Sunday when she was so ill. The cat is now home. What if we had put her down because we did not have 400 or 800 to throw into the pocket of the Brewer clinic? How many people have been bullied by that doctor and her hard sell approach, and influencial badge of being a vet, to kill their beloved pets? Shame on the clinic.

I suggest that people avoid going there unless there is absolutely no other choice, and always listen to your own thoughts and feelings when dealing with alleged experts. I'm glad I listened to myself, and I'm sure the cat that is now home and alive would agree with me.

We have been a customer at the Brewer Vet Clinic for many years and I have never been disappointed. They always find a way to squeeze you in when you have an emergency. When we go in for a regular type appointment, the wait isn't too bad. I keep in mind that there may other emergencies that were squeezed in before me and I know I am always appreciative when I am on the other end!

We have been going to this Vet for about 2 years. The staff is always knowlegable and willing to help. I have even called and gotten advice over the phone for my animals. Excellent service and very pleasant.
