Sukee Kennel

I've had Sukee Shepherds since the early 80s. I have two now, plus two of my own puppies from my Sukee girl and a male from another kennel. My male just died at 4 years old of a massive stroke. He was, otherwise, healthy until that last day of his life. My Sukke girl and boy have both been rock solid healthwise. She's 6 and he's 3. My two puppies are also solid healthwise. They are definitely not terribly dog friendly, but they are wonderful amazing Shepherds.

I know a lot of people with Shepherds from many kennels who have died young from cancer. I've had the problems with skin issues with Sukee dogs in the 80s and 90s, but not now.

I can't speak for anyone else's experience with the owners, but my experience has always been very good. I've run into people who had Sukee dogs but had less than great interactions with the owners, so stopped and went to another kennel.

I'm looking for another girl and Sukee is the only kennel I would get her from.

On another note, if your dog has skin problems or immune issues, accupuncture was a lifesaver for one of my dogs. Not cheap; three times a week for the first two weeks, then twice a week, then twice a month. But for whatever it's worth, no more skin problems or immune issues.

We have had 2 Sukee shepherds. The 1st died of liver disease at 4 yrs and we just put our 2nd down at 13 years (old age). In no way did we blame Sukee for the early death of our first --- it's the luck of the draw --- unless you can weed out all the non-hereditary factors (including environmental, food and water sources etc) that contribute to any disease. And, while I've never dealt directly with Jerry, every one of his employees (including his wife) has been compassionate and professional. We're getting ready to bring another Sukee boy into our home --- we've been approached by other breeders but, frankly, we think we (and our puppies) - are well served by Sukee Kennels....and I'm not a pushover....

I have had 2 dogs from Sukees over the past 24 years. The first was a wonderful companion, gentle & extremely patient with many types of people. Had to be put down at the age of 13.5 years, degenerative spinal disease.(Not uncommon in large breeds). The second dog, was also a perfect match and a wonderful companion! He died at the age of 9 years of Cancer of the spleen, (again, I found that this is not uncommon in male dogs of large breeds like shepherds or goldens to name two.) Both times Jerry gave me sound and helpful advice as well as advice with any training issues. Jerry was very professional and very compassionate when ever we spoke. I would definitely consider getting another dog from them once we are ready to do so. To all who complained...Just tell me how you can prevent someone from getting cancer or degenerative spinal disease...and I'll bet you can make a lot of money.

the love our our lives, dakota has ms. we can not get any info from sukee kennel. sukee will not talk to us about it and says all his dogs are very healthy. I have been told this is in his heritage. I will not buy from sukee again.
