I've been here as a bride and my experience was fine...but nothing like September's Bride in Holland!!! THAT place is the best!

As a bridesmaid, this place is pretty bad! I have been in two weddings prior to this one and had no trouble popping in and out to get measured at other businesses. At David's the plus was that they actually had the dress so I could try it on in my size, but what could have been 5 min. took almost an hour. I had to stand and wait between each dress size b/c the woman helping me was also helping brides that came in after me...I realize they make their money on the brides dress sales but no bride wants her bridesmaids waiting around forever in the store b/c the brides dress sales are more important. Its just bad business to compromise service for more money. Then after the woman knew I found my size I took off the dress and the woman was gone! I walked to the front of the store and stood there awkwardly wondering if I should have stayed put and doubted that she would come to the front to finish with me. Thankfully my uncomfortable expression got someones attention, she went to find the lady, got my form from her and came back telling me, "she is helping a bride into a dress...you can stand in line here to check out". The line was HUGE! The staff was friendly, I felt bad for them though b/c they are forced to be rude and probably get yelled at by angry customers b/c of how the owner runs it.

I LOVED the time I spent at David's Bridal. I had heard bad reviews about the one in Centerpointe Mall so I was very reluctant to go at first. My first visit there was about 10 months ago and it was for my gown. It was very busy when I arrived because of course, it was a Saturday and that is when people are most free to go shopping. I forgot to make an appointment so I had to wait at least ten minutes for the next open consultant. One thing I understood about all this is that PEOPLE ARE PEOPLE. The consultant I was getting is a human being, just like me and you, so she could only work so fast.
Once I got my consultant I realized she has two other parties she was working with and you know what I WAS OK WITH THAT. She was busy so why make it an even more stressful time by making her feel like crap because she was trying to help everyone. By being patient with her, I found my gown in less than 25 minutes and I bought it that day.
The next time I came was for my bridesmaids. I was put with a different consultant who was helping other people too at the same time but I acted the same time as I did the first and all my girls got their dresses ordered in less than an hour while the other party my consultant was working with (who of course were rude customers and didn't have enough respect to even be working with a consultant-sorry had to say it) were still there after I left.
This is the advice I am going to give. David's Bridal is a FAST PACED STORE. First of all, if you want to be treated hand and foot you need to respect your sales lady and treat her LIKE YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE TREATED! Secondly, I read all these reviews about how the people working their were rude and snobby. Then I read about how YOU want to be treated like a princess. Who is the snobby one now? I know just as well as any other bride that you want to have a happy time when finding that perfect gown, but it is NOT GOING TO HAPPEN if you act like a child.
I witnessed ( in my short and lovely time at David's) HORRIFIC women who would talk behind their consultants back and say that's not what they wanted and blah blah blah. If it isn't what you wanted then tell your consultant that. Duh. If that doesn't work, ask for a manager. It really isn't that hard when you think about it.
I just get angry when I read all these reviews about women not getting their "perfect gown" or having an "amazing time" choosing a dress. You women come into the store with a bad attitude to begin with, I probably wouldn't want to work with you either. Would you want to work with you if you were working that way? Yeah, that is what I thought.
WOMEN! Stop being those stupid bridezillas you see on T.V. Because COME ON! If you are shopping at David's we already know you don't have the money to act like one.

The first visit to Davids Bridal was not so great...it was on a Saturday and you had to stand in line to make an appointment in order to try on dresses...2 1/2 hour wait, so I left. The second time I went during the week and it was not busy so I decided to try on some wedding dresses. I picked 3 or 4 out and asked the consultant to grab them for me. I also told her the style that I was looking for and to have her find some of that particular style. Well...when she got back she didn't grab any of the dresses that I had asked her to grab for me to try on and she brought dresses that looked like my grandma would wear, but to be nice I tried them on. Their dressing rooms are ridiculously small and my consultant dissapered every time after I tried a dress on. I felt like I was on my own. The consultant also kept trying to pressure me to buy their bras, veils, jewelry ect. and it got annoying. After trying on the 7-8 wedding dresses, I was so disappointed in their service and gown selection that I left. A fer weeks later, one of my bridesmaids stopped in to try on a bridesmaid dress and they told her that she better order it now because they can only guarantee that they have them for 3 more weeks (I doubt it since the dress just came out this spring)....Overall I will NEVER go back...I ended up going to Fantastic Finds in Lansing to buy my dress and they have excellent customer service, are not pushy, have huge dressing rooms, and plenty of great dresses (not just "cookie cutter" cheap dresses like Davids has! ...they are actually designer dresses!

My first visit there was for my own gown. I went with my mom and we were pretty much shunned when entering because we didn't have an appointment. There was no one in the store and they wouldn't let me try anything on because we needed a consultant working with us... I bought my dress somewhere else...

My second visit there was for my maids dresses. Even though I said I'd never go back they do have very good prices for my girls and a lot of sizes in stock at all times.

I've been working with Andrea and she's been the best to work with. A few times I didn't have an appointment but they didn't mind and were no less helpful.

Although I wish they had some sort of payment plan for my girls - some were seeing money issues - I was able to get their credit card deal: 12 mo. same as cash, to help them out.

So far my experience (though crappy at first) has been great. We'll see how alterations go. I pray they go well, I've read and heard so many horror stories. But they'll get hell if they mess up my girls' dresses!!

I went there because they had their $99 dresses, and I'm always looking for a deal. Their $99 section was VERY small..like 3 or 4 in each size. Luckily, I found the perfect dress! The associate that helped me was nice and friendly, but I felt rushed. I wanted to look around at other wedding supplies, but she pushed me out the door when I was done paying. The lady at the desk when you first walk in isn't the friendliest..but don't let that stop you. I was planning on buying everything I need while I was there, but their veils are outrageously priced. ($189 for one I wanted) and jewelry looks cheap. I wish I had a little bit more privacy while trying on dresses, I went on a Sunday, so I expected a lot of people, but it was crazy how many people were there. Random people were commenting on the dresses I was trying on, which was awkward. The dressing room was rather small too..so that was a challenge to get the dresses on (had 4 dresses, slips, myself and clothes in there). I do need to get the hem on my dress taken in and I'm nervous about going back there because I've heard awful things about their alterations. Overall, if your looking for a deal I would go there, however, I won't be sending my bridesmaids there..

I went today to try dresses on for the first time and the girl I worked with was very pushy. I hadn't made an appt. but came in when there was no one else in the store, yet it still seemed like a problem for me to have just walked in. When I got all situated with the woman at the front desk my consultant did not say hello or introduce herself to me. She just started interrogating me for her form. I had looked online and had a few styles that i wanted to try on. For what ever reason she didn't seem to like this. Then after about 5 dresses and two of which I really liked she acted like we were done and I had to make a decision out of those 5 and that I needed to buy my dress today. She kept going on about having to buy my dress within the next month...my wedding isn't till may! Then after I tried on dresses I wanted my maid of honor to try some dresses on but we had already spent our 90 minutes with our consultant and aparently we needed to move on because she was done helping us. We made an appt. for a month from now to get all the bridesmaids in and for me to finalize my decision, still after only trying on 5 dresses, I have a feeling I'm going to cancel after I look around at some other shops...i was just irritated because I felt like I had to make a decision that instant and that I was doing every thing wrong if i didn't....I'm not totally writing them off but I will be doing some looking around before I make any decisions!

My first complaint regarding my experience with DB is about my BM dresses. I brought my girls in to order the dresses in June 08 for a fall 08 wedding. My sales girl told me it would be 6 weeks before the dresses came in. Eight weeks later we were still waiting for the dresses. I called and they said the dress was a "custom cut" dress and it would be at least 12 weeks before they came in. All of the girls need alterations and this will put us at getting the dresses just about three weeks before the wedding.

Second, if you are buying your wedding dress make sure you talk to the sales clerk about any pressing or cleaning that needs to be done. If you have someone else do your alterations DB WILL NOT take your dress in for pressing/bead check/cleaning. I was not told this when I purchased my dress (off the rack). I was told to bring it in and have it cleaned and pressed when it came closer to the wedding. They want you to pay for their high alterations costs! Once the alterations have been done elsewhere they want nothing to do with you!

The only good thing about this store is that they have dresses available off the rack. However, if these don't fit perfectly, do NOT get them altered here. I tried on 2 sizes of a dress - one fit just about perfect and the other was way too big. They convinced me to get the larger one so that they could alter it 'perfectly.' I believed them - after all, they were charging and arm and a leg for alterations.

Needless to say, the dress now fits worse than the first one...even after they have altered it not once, but twice. I'm out $200 and have a dress with a crooked pendant, bad stitching, and bunching on the sides. These errors are so evident that even my husband saw them and pointed them out when I tried it on at home. So much for my perfectly fitted dress. I am sorely disappointed in this store and will never, as far as it depends on me, purchase from here again.

The only good thing about this store is that they have affordable bridesmaid dresses. The first time I went to this store to order a bridesmaid dress that the bride had already picked out, they threw a fit that I didn't have an appointment and made it seem like I was really inconveniencing them. There was no other customers in the store at the time! Phyllis "helped" me get it ordered, but was a real snob because my friend, the bride, wasn't registered at their store. This time, I'm the bride. I made sure to make an appointment to shop for bridesmaid dresses with my girls. When each of us arrived there, we first had to be interrogated at the table at the front, and after telling them that we had an appointment, they would just leave us standing there for a few minutes without any explanation (it was busy this time). Phyllis was "helping" us once again. Basically she showed us where the bridesmaid dresses were, and then walked off. When we were ready to try some on, we had to track her down. She was a snob once again, even though I had made sure to play by their rules. I am so glad I didn't even consider buying my wedding dress there. Go to the smaller shops. They have affordable dresses too, that are much nicer looking, and they have much better customer service.

PROS: affordable bridesmaid dresses
CONS: HORRIBLE customer service

My wife purchased her dress from Davids Bridal and had no problems during the purchase and alterations process. She told me Meredith was great to work with and answered all of her questions. She took dress there for alterations and was pleased. She heard bad things about their alteration dept. but had no problems and was happy with how it turned out.

I found that as long as you work with a select few bridal consultants, you will have a great experience at David's. I got my wedding dress, veil and bridesmaids dresses there with absolutely no problems. I worked with Kathy and she was a dear. I also had my alterations done there and I just LOVE those ladies! However, the customer service there leaves much to be desired. They won't say one word to you when you walk in the door, and they treat you like scum if you don't have an appointment - won't even let you try anything on, even if there is no one else in the store! I am glad that I had an overall positive experience there, but you really have to play by their rules and work with the right person in order to get that.

David's Bridal has a bad reputation of poor service and my three visits at the Centerpointe David's Bridal have totally fit their reputation.

The first time I entered DB was in March 2003. I purchased a bridesmaid gown for a friend's wedding in FL. They shipped the wrong size, so I went to my local DB to exchange for the correct size. The ladies at the counter were very rude and basically said that it was my problem and I had to deal with it. They FINALLY sent me a new dress after a huge run around.

Then my sister ended up picking out bridesmaid dresses through DB. My experience with them was neither negative nor positive.

My third experience was in Oct 2005. We went there to look at bridesmaid dresses. Again, their staff was far from friendly or helpful. I felt like just another customer. When I said I wasn't interested in the particular dress they were showing me, the employee quickly walked away and never offered her help again.

My third experience was in Oct 2005. We went there to look at bridesmaid dresses. Again, their staff was far from friendly or helpful. I felt like just another customer. When I said I wasn't interested in the particular dress they were showing me, the employee quickly walked away and never offered her help again.
