Needed to buy a new washer & dryer & I didn't know a thing about them but "Doc", of Brummel's Home Furnishings was very helpful. he told me everything I needed to know about the machines & was able to match my needs with what I needed. He was very helpful. It's a great(and unusual) thing to talk to a salesman who is very knowledgeable & helpful without feeling pressured. I plan on going back to Brummels again & would recommend talking to Doc.
We were excited when we first went to Brummel's. The low pressure approach was great and made shopping easy. We found a couch, love seat, chair and ottoman that we fell in love with, but we weren't ready to buy and told the salesman that we would be back in a month to buy. He was kind enough to write down the prices for us on a sheet of paper he had printed out with a picture of the style of furniture we wanted.
Fast forward to a month later and upon arrival we were told that the prices would not be honored and that we couldn't get the furniture anymore. We asked our salesman to see what he could do and asked for a call back the next day. He called and told us that it would be $200 more for a similar set of furniture and there was nothing he could do. I asked for his manager and he told me to talk with Joe Brummel at the Zeeland location. Needless to say, I have only been subject to that lack of customer service one other time in my life. I was asking Joe to drop $50 from each piece of a replacement/similar product in order to honor his original quote and he refused and told me he wanted me to shop elsewhere. I obliged and bought from his competition in Holland, Vanhill Furniture who were fantastic. Joe told me that if I went to the grocery store and looked at meat it wouldn't be the same price a month later. I told him it would if I had a rain check or a quote, which is what his salesman gave to me. He told me it wasn't the same and since I didn't buy that day he won't honor the pricing. For $200 he was willing to provide horrible customer service that resulted in me telling all friends I have on Facebook, the folks that read these reviews, and anyone else that I can find to never shop there. I hope it was worth it Joe Brummel and I will NEVER use Brummel's for anything and I recommend highly that you don't either.
I recently sent my mother to Brummels to buy a new television set and stand. She was initially scared of the new technology; however, the patience of the Brummels staff before and after the sale put her at ease.
This is what I expected of them and that is what they delivered.
Thank you, Paul M.
Needed all new appliances for a remodel in my house. Bought a microwave which broke after 5 weeks. Returned it and the store policy says I can't get my money back. I am told to drive around to the back of the store. They can't carry a small microwave to the repair dept. themselves? Someone took it and said they would try to repair or I would get a new one. I can't get a credit toward a different brand either. I'm now without a microwave waiting for Fridgedaire to either fix it or get me a new one. Then I can drive back to the store to get it. So rather than working with me they just lost a great future sale. They were not friendly, just said that's the way it is. So needless to say it was a great $150 lesson for me and Brummels will not be getting an additional $10,000 from me for all of the other appliances I will be buying.
Brummels has the worst customer service anywhere. We were going to purchase a stove from them and noticed the drawer in the bottom was not aligned properly. I asked the salesman "Steve" about it and he said he would have it looked at. Well, when it was delivered the drawer had not been fixed and we refused to sign for anything and requested the stove be returned. Brummels said they couldn't do that and would have a service man out immediately to look at it. NO ONE CAME OUT. We called to have the stove picked up and when they came out we were charged for another service call $39 and a restocking fee of 20%($150) NEVER BUY FROM BRUMMELS they LIE and CHEAT you out of your money.
Absolutely horrible! If I could give it a ZERO, I would!
This store came highly recommended when we moved here. We purchased (what we were told) was great quality carpet that would last us through the years. The carpet installer came. What was supposed to be a two day job was accomplished in a half a day. Unfortunately, that means that the carpet was laid incredible shoddy.
The stair carpet started coming undone immediately; the carpet pad was laid over top of each other in two rooms, leading to a huge ridge. There are so many bubbles in this carpet...seriously every year I need it to be worked on.
Low and behold, I call Brummels, who won't stand behind their worker (who they incidentally fired for being so sloppy). They told me I bought a cheap carpet which is why this is happening. Nice. How the story has changed since we bought it!
I went to the Home and Garden show at the Devos place and went to the Brummel??s booth. There was a very nice guy that worked there and told us how they could put a package deal together for when we built the new house. Because he was so nice, I told my mom about this company and suggested that she shop there instead of one of the big box stores.
She ended up purchasing a Whirlpool fridge and also a dishwasher. Brummel??s delivered the items to the house on Saturday, but said that they could not hook up either of the items. We got them hooked up and loaded all of our ??stuff? into the fridge. On Monday, two days after we got the brand-new fridge, the freezer quit working. We moved our stuff to the basement freezer and called Brummel??s. They said that they would send a guy on Wednesday to look at it. Meanwhile, the fridge part broke on Tuesday, so we didn??t have any working appliance. We purchased ice trying to keep $200 + dollars of our food that we just bought at the grocery store.
My mom took Wednesday off and waited for the repair guy. Wednesday came and the repairman said that that we needed a certain part to fix the fridge, but it wouldn??t be in until the following Thursday (over a week). Because our food was going bad, we called Brummel??s to see what they could do to help us because our brand-new fridge quit working after two days. Doc, the person that sold us the fridge, said that there was nothing that Brummel??s could do to help us, and he needed to call Whirlpool. We waited for a few hours and called back. He said he was still waiting to hear. We called Whirlpool and they said that #1 Brummel??s had never called and #2 they needed to send out a certified Whirlpool repair person to see what was wrong with the fridge. We said that a certified person was already there, and they claimed that Brummel??s is not a certified person. We called Doc back and he said that there was nothing that Brummel??s could do to help us. In other words, they don??t stand behind the products they sell. We requested to talk with a manager, and he said that a manager was not available, but he would have him call tomorrow.
Thursday, Dan Brummel called us and started to say that there was nothing they could do. We explained that the fridge was two days old and all of our food was going bad. We also told him that I would be building a new house and needed a house full of appliances, furniture, and electronics which I had been planning on purchasing from there. That seemed to change his mind. He then said that they could get a new fridge out to us, but not until the following Thursday (a week later). We asked what we were supposed to do without a fridge until then, and he offered to have a temporary fridge brought over until then. He also offered us $300 to compensate for the food, but we said we had only spent $200 at the grocery store, and we would be fine with that. He asked if we wanted to come in and pick up the check or to mail it out, and we said to mail it.
Less than two hours later, we got a phone call from Bruce Brummel asking for our credit card number. We were confused and said that Dan told us he was sending us a check. We heard some commotion in the background, and Dan got on the phone. When we said that we thought he was sending us a check, he said that he would have never said that. Whirlpool won??t reimburse him for the food, so he would have never offered us money to reimburse for the food. That they were coming that afternoon to pick up the fridge and that they wanted our credit card to refund us the money for the fridge. They weren??t going to do business with us. I waited around until 4:00 when I had to leave to go teach, and they didn??t show up until right after I left.
Since they came and picked up our fridge on Friday, we have had three phone calls from Brummel??s repair service, A & E Factory service, and also Terry Brummel who is the President of Brummel??s. Nobody had communicated with each other, and each time we explained our situation hoping that someone would help us understand what happened. All we got was, ??I am sorry that you had trouble?. We are just in shock that a company that has been around since the 50??s would treat people this way. They lost over $30,000 in business for a $1,500 fridge.
If you need service done to your big appliances check out Brummels. They offer 1 day service on washers, fridges, stoves, ovens, compactors, dishwashers, dryers, freezers, ranges, microwaves and many more appliances. They have prompt and professional installations. They offer custom and replacement parts. They have a large parts inventory. Great place to check out if you need service on any of your appliances.
My husband and I went to Brummels when we needed to get a full set of appliances. The sales people there were not pushy at all, and were very accomodating to us. They gave us a great discount for buying a whole set of things. They also offer free delivery -- even though we lived over 20 miles away. Very handy! The installation company they recommended was very well priced. We'd recommend Brummels to anyone.
