It has been my privilege to know Dr. Shulak professionally for almost 20 years. He has cared for several of my animals and has always provided excellent care and
compassion at a time when both the animals and the owners needed it most. I deal with ??vets? on a daily basis and can testify to Dr. Shulak??s outstanding skill and experience. I would not hesitate to recommend his care!

Dr. Shulak and the exceptional staff at North Branch Animal Hospital are definitely a notch above the rest! My family and I have been loyal and loving clients of Dr. Shulak for almost 20 years. Dr. Shulak is very knowledgeable and caring, and will not stop searching for the best possible option for all of our pets. He makes the time to sit down with you and explan any conditions and/or all of the possible treatment options. You definitely feel like you recieving VIP treatment when you're there!
The staff has been extremely helpful and the office is very cute and extremely clean! The prices are very competitive for the area. I would definitely recommend Dr. Shulak to anyone in search of exceptional veterinary medicine and quality service!!

This man is a crook, Please do not go to him. It took him almost 10 tries to get the vein when drawing blood from my dog!! He comes off really nice at first but he really just wants your money. He sent me to a specialist and sadly my dog died, the specialist was so nice and did not charge me, upon returning to the vet to get my dog cremated the Dr demanded that I pay him $500 so he could pay the specialist because he felt they deserved it, I said no way and left the office, I called the specialist later that day and told him this, he was very upset and told me this was not the first time this happened and would be ending his relationship with the Dr Shulak. This is only part of waht he did to me, he also over charged me for meds, food, and visits.

Please go elsewhere for your pet needs, This man is just crooked and I am in the process of working with the BBB to make sure this does not happen to anyone else.

My Blue Front Amazon was sick and my regular Avian vet was on vacation. I was directed to an emergency clinic but unsure of their experience with birds decided to call another vet I know and respect. He told me, for birds, to call Dr. Shulak because he was one of the best avian vets in the state. Even though he was almost 50 miles away, this was one time I really needed a bird specialist. After examining her, Dr. Shulak explained how sick she was and there was a good chance that she might not live but he would do everything he could to keep that from happening. It didn't take long listening to him to realize not only his kindness and compassion but his knowledge and experience. I left her in his hands knowing I made the right choice. That was 28 days ago. She's been home for 3 weeks. She's still on medication and I've had her back twice to be treated. I'm happy to say that she's gaining weight and seems to be doing fine. My brother is a research pathologist in New Jersey and I sent him the lab results and treatment. He told me that I (she) was very lucky and without Dr. Shulak's excellent job of treating her she would not have survived. After this experience, I can't see going anywhere else. I can see why others, including his peers, think so highly of him.
Christine S. - Although I have only been there a few times, I have never experienced anything but kindness and respect from anyone either in person or on the telephone.
MT ?? I have a hard time believing that. Your first couple sentences gave me reason to discount everything else you said. I know that caring for animals can be expensive but since their life is in your hands, don't they deserve the best care? Exploratory surgery? I don't know, only if there was a serious problem with your bird and it was absolutely necessary. Surgery was a possibility in my birds case but Dr. Shulak said that would be an absolute last resort because of the risk involved. Thank God it didn't come to that. Thanks Dr. Shulak and Staff!!!

I think although Dr. Shulak is a really nice vet, the desk woman is a real witch and is not only rude to your face, but I had overheard her say nasty things about other clients that have called there while I was waiting. She is very short on patience and talks to you as if you're 3 years old if you dare ask a question. She really ruined my experience there, and since you have to deal with her the most, it isn't worth coming back.

I have an older Amazon Parrot who has been Dr. Shulak's patient for many years. In fact he is Doctor's oldest patient! When I first met Dr. Shulack my parrot was extremely ill and I believed I could lose him.. Dr. Shulack asked me to trust him and his years of experience as a veterinarian who specializes in birds. My parrot was in the hospital under Doctors care for 9 days and came home cured. One of the tech's took him over the weekend to ensure he was properly cared for while the office was closed. I am eternally grateful and would not dream of taking my parrot any where else as long Dr. Shulack is practicing. Additionally, his staff is also very competent and caring. Thanks Dr Shulack!!

As soon as I noticed that my quaker had labored breathing, I called to see if Dr. Shulak could see her ASAP. He had me bring her right in. Unfortunately, she was much sicker that I had realized. Dr. Shulak did all he could to save her and was very kind and compassionate toward me and my bird. His staff was also very kind. He spent far more than 20 minutes with us, more like an hour +, and didn't charge me anything additional for his time. I'm sorry to see that MT had such poor things to say about this very kind and compassionate man. I've seen him quoted in BirdTalk magazine, Harrison's informational literature and many articles in the local papers. He has been an avian vet for a long time and I believe that he knows what he is talking about.

I have nothing but good things to say about Dr. Shulak as an avian veterinarian. He has cared for our 2 African Greys with nothing but the utmost in priority for their wellbeing and safety. I am sorry to see that M.T. used a personal attack on a man who has devoted his life to caring for birds and animals. Shame on M.T.! Having a bird is a lifetime commitment that includes making sure your bird receives the best of care, and yes, that costs money. If you take a bird to the veterinarian, you have to go in willing to listen what the experienced examiner is saying and take it to heart. Sometimes it isn't what you want or expected to hear. Dr. Shulak and his staff are top notch professionals. They are also enjoyable people. I recommend them - absolutely! Kim K.

I have been a client of Dr. Shulak's for nearly 15 years and he has always been right on the money with his diagnosis and treatment. He has always treated me with respect, told me the truth, and offered me sympathy when required. Yes, taking care of your pets properly can be expensive, but if you can't afford to give them the best then don't get one. This is especially true for birds. They are a huge commitment in yearly bloodwork, organic diets, and a lifespan that goes into the decades. Dr. Shulak understands what it takes to give them the long and healthy life they deserve. Let him do his work!

We have lived with pets for thirty years while moving all over the country, so we have lots of experience with other veterinarians. Dr. Shulak is not only experienced, capable and knowledgeable but also highly conscientious and still curious and excited about his profession. The kindness, concern, affection and sincerity he has consistently shown us and our dogs and birds are shared by his staff, and his fees compare favorably with the going rate in this area. He is energetic, keeps up-to-date, and is respected by his colleagues (who regularly consult him and whom he consults, in special areas of expertise). He's also an interesting and delightful person.

The doctor is older then dirt its self. His hands shake like mad and must be over 85 years old. He is a old con man. He bumped up the office call up by $15.00. The office manager told me twice the office visit was $45.00 but the doctor said that was for twenty minutes and after that the bill goes up by $2.00 a minute. He said he has over fifty years in the biz and worth every extra dollar. I went to see the doctor for time today Re: my parrot. The doc said my bird was old, needs exploratory surgery and may not survive the surgery. Of course I said no surgery and wondered what the heck was he talking about anyway. I only wanted info on his feathers but my saying no was when he bumped the office call from $45.00 to $60.00... He was a old con that was trying to sell me anything. Pleeeese don't take your pet there if you love it.

North Branch treated our cats and were very sensitive to their post surgical pain management needs. They kept our cats for a week after surgery because our cats were unusually sensitive to pain. They took very good care of both cats and the staff was very loving towards our pets. We were very pleased with the care we received and the information we were given. Highly recommend this practice.
